I'm willing to buy a stombox that will allow me to get that kind of tone, and I don't know which to choose, pod xt,x3, boss gt10. I know that Magicstomps would be good but they are hard to get, and you need a couple of the to cover all the holdsworthian needs.
tone1 = bluecompr (S50 Lv80) _ blackface+2x12 _ eq(addin some bass) _ Analogchorus(slow, mid mix, lots of deph) ddelay(504ms, 10fbk, 20mix) and a bit of reverb.
tone2 = bluecompr (S50 Lv80) _ ddelay(20ms, 20fbk, 100mix) _ jazzchorus+2x12JC _ eq(addin some bass) _ Sinechorus(slow, 100%mix, lots of deph) and a bit of reverb.
more or less like this. it's the clean i use mainly for tapping with lower output pickups.
TwinRev & bypassed + lil bit compressor (=P) + analog chorus(vry slow vry soft but 50mix) & leslie simulation(vry bright, slow, 100mix) in parallel + 2 digital delay (420ms 25mix and 20ms 100mix) + spring reverb

I used dual tone:

in this song the fingering is not that hard as it looks. but the rithm is killer in some changes.
and strumming at some spots to get the tone of that spot...
i see this as a beatifull song, not as a hard chord progression.
