Part 3 of 3. If you feel the need to curse, go ahead and curse. Curse until you’re completely satisfied If you truly believe that I am disloyal. Someday when you come to realize, you will, Surely regret and pity me. As for my feeling it still loves. It loves you still and can not forget. The faithfulness it inhabits my body and soul. Even when life ends I will remain loyal.
Part 2 of 3. This story of eternal love I bestow upon you. Even when life ends I will love you still.
As I love this song, here's my attempt in translating it. It corresponds to the video. My Cambodian is very limited and basic as I am isolated from Khmer people since the age of 7 and still am.
Sorry for the numerous removals. I tried to edit part 2 and 3 to make them look like part 1 for line by line translation. Oh well, I gave it my best shot.
I love this song very much...in my personal opinion, I don't think there's a true love at all...if there's any, then where did they all go? Hahahahaha
omg love ur translation i gotta say really now ur stuff haha i can speak and understand khmer but dont ask me to translate haha. Oh yeah and I am american born so holla!
I believe true love does exist, at least the idea of it. If a wife truly loves and cares for her husband, and the husband returns such care and devotion, then the couple is closer to finding true love than those who don't behave likewise toward one another.
Do people really know what true love looks like? Will your picture "true love" match mine or anybody else? Most unlikely...a matter of debate.
@sarnserm I want to give you two thumbs way up for the translation, well done! Please allow me to take you to my world of true love, I say, Sarnerm, my true love is most likely alike you. You and I desire similar things when it comes to true and true love. The problem isn't love or true love. True love in and of itself remain infinites, I say, but we human creatures are not. We are evolving like the wind.
@sarnserm True love definitely exists. You'll know it when it happens to you. I believe, like any other feelings, such as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, hence true love is in the heart of the one who feels it.

This song brings back memories of my dear sister who is no longer with us. This was her favorite song. I am glad to have stumbled upon this video. Thank you sincerely.
I LOVE THIS SONG. Thank you so much for the caption and translation! I'm learning to sing this song. It would even more awesome if you could PLEASE send me the instrumental. If you can, I'd appreciate it!
You're welcome. I'm sorry that I don't have the instrumental for it. As far as I know, there's not a karoake version of it, but I'll be sure to send it to you once I come across it. Hope someone out there have it in his/her collection. In the meantime, you can sing along with Sothea. :)
sarnserm, great translation. it's hard to translate from khmer 2 english w/o losing the flavor of the khmer language. the khmer language is more poetic & more romantic than the english language. there4 it's inevitable 2 lose the flavor when translatin'.
however your translation endeavor is as good as a khmer-english translation can be. congrats!!
I couldn't agree with you more. I'm trying to avoid injecting the meaning of each song I translate by paraphrasing, which would have taken rough edges out of the translation, whereever possible. Through transliteration, I believe, original meaning will be kept more intact and learning Khmer will be made easier (I hope) for those who desire to learn, especially for non-Khmers.
You know at filmworks if you know Lead, you don't have to work. Today I'm thinking. How about you all? My fingernails are well trimmed. I will have a hair cut soon. It's getting long now. How about you all?
thank you for posting and i just admire how you translate khmer pronounciation and having it all in english wonderful job.... i just wish you do many more translation for the new songs.
I appreciate that. I'm sorry to tell you and many that are a fan of new songs that I won't be translating any new songs. Preserving Khmer music, mainly those sung by our Mr. Sinn Sisamouth, Ros Serey Sothea, Pen Ron, Pov Vannary, Meas Samoun, and a few other, are the main reason for starting this translation work.
Another reason is to make their works known to the world, which is a way is part, hopefully, of its preservation.
If you're passionate about new songs as I am of Oldies, perhaps, you might consider the work of translating your favorites...who know, your work might inspire other to do the same.
I'm a great fan of oldies too. Will you someday translate Retrei del kyoum pleah min banh, sung by SSS and San chet chit sung by RSS? I'm not sure I fully understand the meaning. Thanks in advance.
Retrei del kyoum pleah min banh => The Night I Can't Forget (Unforgettable Night)by Samouth?
San chet chit sung => Sah-ng Jet Jear Sung (I'll Become a Nun) by Sothea?
Did I understand the above titles correctly?
If so, I'm sorry to tell that I don't believe I have any of those songs. If you have them, could you send them to me, and I'll do my best to fulfill your request.
You've understood very well the first title (unforgettable night) but as for the second, I'm not quite sure. I do have them, I'll be pleased to send it to you if I know your email. Thanks in advance for your hard work.
I got the lyric for the Unforgettable Night written out and translation is near completion.
The second song titles "San Chir Jet ( Rankle) " by RSS. I believe I heard it from a karaoke DVD. Once I've found it, I'll get start working on its translation.
Thanks, malaiss, for the info. I've looking for those Khmer classic movies. I'd like to travel back in time to that era, just to see what was life in Cambodia.
This is the best video with translated English. Thank you sarnserm. I could learn a lot without paying you. You are truly helping out our native people to become more educate. We all need it. I believe you are bright and kind.
I hope to post the "HOW TO READ KHMER" video some time in the near future. For now, hope Khmer-English (Khmer phonic) included in the posted videos will be helpful for those who wants to learn Khmer .

I always wish to see our men and our people reunite with kindness and care for one another. sarnserm I only have my true beautiful smile to share with you ok! Bec people admire my true happy smile all the time.
Thanks for the compliments. As for a good teacher, I don't think I'm qualified. I can learn a lot from someone with such a "true beautiful smile"; it would sure make my-and many others-day. A genuine smile from a genuine heart, who can afford not to admire, or at least return a bright smile. :)

When listening to Sothea, Samouth, and many other Oldies artists, you can't help but wonder or think that they lived out those songs they sang. Perhaps, that's why I love Khmer Oldies, none can do better...not any time soon.
It is said that Sin Sisamouth wrote many songs that were inspired by letters people sent to him, telling him of their broken heart and class struggle.
man this is one of my all time favs...it just brought me back to when i was little falling asleep while this song is playin in the background...so beautiful!!!! thanks for posting it!
You're welcome. My translation needs a lot of work, requiring a lot more time than I could afford. Translation requires a lot of figuring out the intend, the poetry of the song, and informed of expressions of both languages which I fail badly on all counts. :)

Part 1 of 3.
This song is a tale of my love.
This love is grandeur in the scheme of life.
It is not a game, but of true love,
Though, I am suffering in this life time.
This song is the flaming sound of sorrow.
I’d rather suffer silently then utter it.
If I die, my death will be with meaning.
