No, not in the immediate future. But it will happen. So start preparing now while there's time. Build a shelter, stock up. Doing it now will allow you to spread the cost out into nice, easily digestible bits. Don't wait until the last minute when that may be your only minute left.

i would tell the russians to back off or were going to shoot down any aircraft that fly into our interception zones

While I would normally agree with that, there are always those in politics and the military who will look for an excuse for a fight. "See how agressive the Americans are," will go the Russians. "Now we have to defend ourselves by attacking them first."

Not logical, but that's how it would go. Like how the Muslims respond to Israel. When Israel defends itself, the Muslims call it an attack and use it to justify more violence of the Muslims' part.
