Rather than use other artists' music, I create my own and use it on my videos. I even try to avoid doing cover songs nowadays. I guess you really have to go the full 9 yards to make sure you're not infringing a copyright, however, it seems so frivolous for them to come after non-commercial use. I guess some labels demand exclusive rights and some jackasses just have to rock the boat with nice grandmas like you. I deeply protest that!
what the hey... using a snippet of a great lyric to illuminate an otherwise entirely original work, how can that be considered property theft?" it's only love, and that is all" and good illustrating! a common device in modern poetry, to use things we all recognize, our shared cultural references.
dylan lyrics, it seems to me, are so famous and well known only someone who's spent the last half century on a desert isle would not immediately know their source. why must beaurocrats be so damn petty?
I find it bizarre how strict censorship is getting on youtube. It's almost hysterical.
The problem is we're listening to the music/words out of reverence, and sharing them amongst ourselves out of life for the copyrighted work. Not out of plagiarism.
hhmm I guess u could look for a suitable cover of Times they are a'changing on youtube perhaps?
I'm sorry but I thought I'd read ferlinghetti.... but "Poetry as Insurgent Art [I am signaling you through the flames] " is MASTEFUL.... I've judged too quickly. That's a great title. I need to check out his stuff again... and be more serious.
Re Shelley's thoughts....well , the good poet's words will last down thru time...as long as time lasts !!
The copyright thing is what got me into Garage Band and collaging my onw music/sound...whatever you wish to call it..

I love what you are doing, Protester, it seems very important. I like to praise the creative commons, too.
