Still love Franco but I cannot stand with him on his stance regarding Joe Paterno and the Sandusky scandal. Coach Paterno should have simply done more. I mean, wouldn't YOU if you'd have known what was going on?
Any man of real character would have done the right thing. Those that have taken me to task here, must not have children. What would THEY expect a witness to do, if THEIR child was being abused.
@machiiniiima Paterno didn't report it to the police because he wanted to keep it in house. He knew about it and still let Sandusky have full access to the PSU facilites up until last week where Sandusky was seen working out at the PSU gym. This is a Child Rape cover up and Paterno was part of it.
@godzilla1077 we know joe pa should have contacted police. however he reported to all higher executives and athletic directors and the president who in turn only banned sandusky from the campus.
@machiiniiima That's a cop out of an excuse for both Paterno and the higher ups. It was a simple cover up and inexcusable. Sandusky wasn't banned. He still had the keys and came in and out as he pleased. There are reports now that Sandusky has done recruiting in the spring this year for PSU.
@machiiniiima They are all complicit, all about money 270 million a year, let the children fend for themselves, while we turn a blind eye. Citadel Syracuse and more to come. many college presidents are losing sleep at night.
Looks like these guys read the catholic bishops play book. Priest fondle left, priest fondle right, the bishop runs up the back end. Joepa and the others sold their souls. is cut and dried, that simple. ALL ARE SICK BASTARDS, be nice if theyend up someones bitch njail
Earl Campbell is certainly not in this league and Dickerson might not be either. Sayers was great, but with such a shortened career we can only speculate what he might have done (and that could have been a great deal). Emmitt Smith has the numbers, certainly, and deserves consideration but it isn't just about the yardage. Brown's totals don't come close to today's athletes and he was clearly superior to any of them.
Franco was a very talented and smart football player. Top five of all time in my book. But Brown was the greatest and Sanders an under-rated number two. Walter Payton gets the nod at #3 and the juice at #4. Franco comes in at #5 and that's no sign of disrespect. He was as tough and as fast as any of 'em. Great, great back.
Unfortunately you young whippersnappers never saw let alone heard of Bullet Bill Dudley. He was one of the last of the 60 minute men and best at all levels. I'm not sure, but he may still own Steelers' records from his play in 1946-running, passing, kicking and interceptions. Check him out
@notredamehesamighty Sanders isn't under-rated whatsoever, he's constantly mentioned. Actually it's the opposite, the hype on him is tremendous, and the truth is he never delivered in the playoffs. I'd also put Simpson and Payton ahead of him as halfbacks. Harris isn't in the top 10 all time but was a great back who got it done in the playoffs better than most.
@notredamehesamighty Franco was never even close to being a top 5 back as he refused to get hit or go for extra yards. But today he let the world know his true colors as he surpported Jopa after everything that went down there, what a TOTAL LOSER!! YOu know i always hated steelers fans but after today i hate you that much more, and especially penn state fans. Little trolls is all you are, Go CINCY and ANYONE else who plays the steelers and penn state!!/
I Love Franco and John Facenda (The Voice of God) on these old films. Franco could suit up in any era and tear it up. Probably hit the hole faster than any player i can think of. Lots of guys run the 40 like track stars but Franco got to top speed the second he touched the ball. He was freakin big too! Thrilling to watch back in the day.
I don't think Franco gets nearly enough credit for the kind of running back he was. The 70's Steelers had a lot of offensive weapons, but Franco is the only one of the bunch to statistically be up there with the all-time greats at his position. He was roughly 500 yards from becoming the all-time rusher when he retired. And the critisicm of running out of bounds instead of taking on two or three tacklers is ridiculous. It's not the Wild-Wild West. It's football. Plus, a great big-game runner.
How in the world can you make such a ridiculous comparision. Yes Franco Harris was a stud at the running back postition but Jim Brown is the greatest football player of all time.
He only ran out of bounds in the last couple of years because he basically was done and he still played because he was trying to catch Jim Brown. If you knew football you would know this.
Franco was an all time running back--from 72 thru 76 he was acknowleged second only to OJ. He was a great post season performer. He doesn't get alot of accolades with the greats because he ran out of bounds alot later in his career.
go steelers. and i was dumb enough to marry a cowboys fan. my husband hates franco harris. i just piss him off and talk about jackie smith dropping the ball.
I bet you if someone raped his child, he'd have a different response. He's a fucking scumbag.

What a shame that he should NOW step up and try to support Joe pa. for his sins against the children.
Silence is consent, where was the rage from Joe, and now Franko, for the children, you can not let children be mistreated, RAPED.
