  • 3:01 that looks like the Firefly was doing a victory dance :)

  • This one of sweetest TV-shows ever made. This episode though makes you shiver due to the scenario - I often say the fucking Terrorists had so much "inspiration" what to do (Armageddon,Godzilla etc.) so maybe Hollywood is a little bit to "blame" if you look at it from this angle.

  • @Bammer2001 This is actually from what Scott says, "The only good publicity is no publicity."

  • Comment removed

  • I asked my dad about this, he also grew up with this back in the 60's, he said at that time they saw the show as something from the very future...but in 1969 a real rocket launched to the moon. What have we become today>?!!!!

  • These episodes are gold. Just pure gold.

  • it ironic that first scene in TERROR IN NEW YORK CITY take place in OIL well (War in Iraq for the oil)

2 disaster scenes in this episode is almost related to 9/11

    1. unidentified aircraft heading to New York

    2. two men trapped in the wreckage of the NYC trademark building, about to be crushed by the falling building next it (watch the fact-based film 'World Trade Center')

  • @renegade202 for being made 40 years before the attacks, it sure makes one think.

  • @renegade202 War in Iraq for the oil? Uh, no. And why should I watch a "fact-based film" that on it's face isn't?

  • you do know Jeff could have sued them, but htat would mean revealing he is part of it

or, he could pretend to be International rescues liason to the government or something like that

  • @quizmaster85 true but how come he is always the one they piss off and they never seem to annoy virgil, gordon or alan, or john on the rare occasion he is in a mission

  • wait.. why is it that thunderbirds 1 and 2 are shot down at some point in the series, and thunderbird 3 never has any trouble- except for being in a airless vacum,

i think that it's not fair the most used thunderbirds are always attacked

  • i used to watch this episode so much i knew it nearly off by heart lol

  • HELP THUNDERBIRD 2!

  • Does anyone remember the video of this episode called 'Countdown to Disaster', with 'Atlantic Inferno' attatched to the end? That had an awesome intro, and I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone upload it, or post a link as to where I can watch it please?

  • PS Scott looks like a puppet version of Matt Damon. With dark hair :P

  • Amazing soundtrack xD

  • With any gerry anderson series you were near guaranteed something was gonna blow real good ^^

  • 5:14 - NEVER piss Scott Tracy off!

  • crazy fools ;)

  • 7:03

lol he just drops the tape on him :D

  • what i love about this begging scene in this episode is Scott very easily wiped the film clean, now Why did'nt they do that in Martain Invasion, with the Hood, they could of wiped the film clean rather than chase him for the majority of the episode.

  • @DAN44100 I remember that scene for some reason, they couldn't wipe it because there was something different about the recording. So they had to give chase. Not much of an episode otherwise. ;-)

  • @LittleAngel1977 I know Thunderbirds like the back of my hand, My favrouite is the episode is the one with The CrabLogger marvolous machine, in fact im doing my own series of Thunderbirds next year

  • @DAN44100 Haha, I'm glad you said that. Me too, although its been a long time since I've watched the episodes themselves having watched them so many times as a kid. I've forgotten a lot of the plots. I don't think I ever had a favourite episode but my favourite character was always (and still is!) Virgil. :-) Good luck with your series. I shall look out for it.

  • Im very surprised to find this episode on here, given its theme and all. But thanks so much for uploading, my fave show as a child and my eight year old niece loves it.

  • When I met Gerry Anderson, he said that in today's money, Thunderbirds would cost a million pounds per episode. That's just awesome.

  • @VGRetro Worth every penny though!

  • @LittleAngel1977 Absolutely.

  • Duuuude...this episode... wow... this is the real good stuff. Unlike the crap they have these days.

  • if i ever have mulitmillions, i am building myself a tracy island.

  • firefly is awesome

  • hmm, camera car vs a state of the art hypersonic aircraft. what made them think they could outrun that, i wonder xD

  • @RS14988 "What made them think they could outrun that?" That's the arrogance of some media types for you.

  • 2 people were born in the naghties.

  • NTSB

    Kamakazi News-service Division

  • THEY STRUCK OIL!!!!!

  • They shoud've called IR to fix the gulf oil well imo.

  • Wasn't that tower the petroleum/oil well? How can it extinguish that burning fire?

  • red adaer,s got nothing in these guys

  • aah The Hood and General X voted 'Dislike' again.

  • Thnaks for posting!

  • Virgil, the blast already turned you about 180 degrees and now you are doing another 180 and you are going straight towards the oil well.

  • Does anyone have any idea what 'F.A.B.' stands for?

  • @Ereldor Full Acknowledgement of Braodcast

  • @Fussinated Thank you SO much! One of the questions I never thought I'd find the answer!

  • @Ereldor you are welcome

  • @Ereldor it stands for: Full Acknowledgement of Broadcast. Gerry Anderson, the producer of "Thunderbirds" was known for these obscure catch phrases. its meaning is close to 'roger that' or 'I copy that'

  • @FlippieX Many other people have actually seemed to think that FAB was actually Fabioulous or however you spell it

  • yeah Scott stands around posing but he is very good at it ^-^

  • This looks scary much on 9/11 . Remeber the oil platform episode? The same shit is happening right now with BP in the Gulf of Mexico !!

  • @barthoedemaker

    Totally agree

Dont forget Mighty Atom( Tchernobyl disaster)

  • camera detector??? how would it work?

  • what a stupid man you can run but not for long

  • I still love it today as I did when I was a kid, think that says something...

  • Why try and drive away from a thunderbird's aircraft? They are like 1,000 times faster and will soon catch up with you and stop you from filming or photographing!

  • wow... i remember this episode... i probably saw it when i was only 6

  • i used to watch this when when i was a kid i still like it.

  • 5:27 - 6:43 Thunderbird 1 takes off and a chase ensues then TB 1 gets alongside the truck and shoots an EM beam at the reporter's videocamera making that video recording to go blank

  • it's weird to think that if scott had left first, he'd have been shot down

  • I bet thunderbird 1 could out run a missle.....

  • I have a book here, let me get it...

ok ok, the speed of TB 2 at full speed is: 8,000 KPH roughly

    5,000 miles and 4,300 knots

  • what's f.a.b.?

  • Short for fabulous. That's all.

  • @srtgrayfrance FIRE ALL BIRDS!

  • @Gilgamesh1106 When the original VHS tapes were released in the UK, "Parker" was interviewed on the chat show Wogan. "Parker" was asked the self-same question, and gave the exact reply.

  • Fully Acnowledged Broadcast

  • @Valkyrie116 Nope. Srtgrayfrance is right. Only means Fabulous.

  • No actuallly...

Thundrebird 1's top speed is 15,000 MPH

Thunderbird 2 is larger and heavier... it's top speed is only 5,000

  • @DakariKingMykan thunderbird 1 can indeed do 15000mph. but thunderbird 2 reaches a maximum of 6250 mph not 5000

  • @Firemarioflower unless it turns the safety off. In the comics they managed to blast themselves into space by overloading the reactor.

    /nerd

  • @DarkKnightBob1o1 yeah so what?? nothing against nerds, okay???

    it simply can do 10000kph

  • @Firemarioflower l2read

  • My favourite moment:

    Joe: Ned! Stop the truck!

Ned: No deal Joe! This is the best news story we've ever had, I'm not gunna loose it now.

    About a minute later:

Ned: He's just bluffing! It's not possible!

Joe: He wasn't bluffing & it is possible! There goes your story Ned.

    :L 5/5

    Classic (y)

  • @danielhanlon19 wa wa waaaaaaa , such a funny scene: D

  • Typical Scott just standing around posing doing sod all.

  • Absolutely correct. Virgil does most of the work himself

  • apparently to the book Jefff tracy was born on 2nd jan 2009

  • YEAH I know, hes not even ONE year old yet XD

  • @guppybreeder64

    Which book?

  • i used to love the crash, i got all the DVDs and i kept watching this one!
