Maybe in the campaign. But you can see by the markings on the building and by the trucks on the map its a nazi german outpost. At the end of ww2 the nazis that were trapped in the north were the last ones fighting, even when nazi germany surrendered at Berlin.

The servers go down a couple times a day, some server admins are horrible at the game and have "Crouch Only" servers to make it even for them, and 75% of the servers are 24/7 Nuketown. We get updates/patches/map packs later than everyone else and we're treated like red headed step children. Oh! Don't forget the hackers.
