I know a couple autistic kids -- nephews of my ex-boyfriend -- and they love music. At church on sundays they're up onstage along with the rest of the praise team (although they don't have mikes, and aren't loud enough to really be heard over the others) -- they're pretty seriously autistic and music is how they've been able to reach out/respond to the world.
To the director - what a wonderful job you're doing! It's truly inspiring!
