  • Looks excellent!

  • Damn, that looks good!! Great use of a canteen cup.

  • That rice is the best... and doesn't require much water to cook. Nice vid.

  • Not bad at all, after a cold day out in the wood.

  • “Zat-er-ran"

  • not bad i did it abiut the same and works fine for camoing

  • dirty rice mix?? haha

  • I have a secret for , you just use your pinky finger to measure how much rice you have by sticking it it, take a mental note of how high it reaches your finger. THEN add an equal amount of water by not letting the water level go past the level of rice you had. rice turns out peeeeeeeeeeerfect. So again you want equal water to rice. Try it out next time instead of your nucle idea. close it musta got lost in translation whoever taught that to you. I learned this from my asian roomate.

  • That brand of dirty rice is so good. Really a great thing for camping.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing

  • dont own a tv?!

  • @shawnio HAHAHA The Fucker Don't Own A T.V. LOL

  • Lol internet violence...anyway your video made me hungry i am going to cook myself some chicken rice now xD oh i'll sub too.

  • I Got A Little tabasco Bottle In My Millitary MRE But You Dont Need The Tabasco

  • I think those little tabasco bottles do still come in the military MREs, we have one from about five years ago and it has one of the little tabasco bottles in it.

  • Now that is some great lookin chow there,..Thanx, all your vids have great tips...

  • Well that definitely is not a modern military canteen because the ones for a while have been made of hard plastic

  • @greengaurd It's not the canteen itself. It's the cup that fits onto the plastic canteen.

  • @WurledPeas A cup that fits into the plastic canteen????? I dont see one on the military canteens at my house

  • @greengaurd You got ripped off.

  • @WurledPeas Really ripped off by the united states airforce?

  • @greengaurd Especially the chair force. lol. Dude, do you really think the toilet seat in a C-5 cost $10,000?

  • @WurledPeas No i do not, and they are not the chairforce, my dad teaches survival evasion resistence and escape, i dare you to tell him in real life to his face that hes a desk jockey.

  • @greengaurd Ohhhh... your daddy, huh? If all that were true wouldn't he know what a fucking canteen cup was all about? Fail.

  • @WurledPeas

Fuck off little bitch, and i do know what a canteen cup is all about dumb ass, THEY DONT PUT CUPS INSIDE MILITARY CANTEENS ANYMORE FUCKING PANZY. quit being a dumb ass bitch, you act soo tuff behind a keybourd fag fuck

  • @greengaurd Your pencil pusher daddy would be proud of his mouthy spawn. Took you long enough to google the current hydration systems. Who's being the dumbass here? The guy who knows what a canteen cup is for or the little queef who wishes he knew his real dad?

BTW.... they never put the cups inside the canteen.

    More fail.

  • @WurledPeas WOW you really need to get a life and do me a favor FUCK OFF! You probably suck more dick than barry manlow you quir. Have fun getting but fucked smart ass bitch!

  • @greengaurd Let us know how the spelling bee goes at camp little bus.

    Further fail.

  • @greengaurd cool it, both of you. thanks

  • Put in just about a knuckle of water above the rice...

THAT's the way a REAL man measures. No fancy measuring cups for bush cookin!'

  • awesome man reminds me of camping with my dad.

  • Good menu, terrible lighting. thanks for sharing.

  • I love the video. Iv just ordered one of these, so now I know how to use one. Im looking forward to practicing. The rice looked very yummy!

  • @PurdyBear1 thanks, go the cooking playlist, there quite a few canteen cup vids

  • I would have no problem eating that whole thing after a day hike. lol

And i'm a thin little guy!

  • how do you clean the canteen cup in the field.

  • @OregonBackpacker it depends, sometimes its dirt, or gravel from the river, or a bandana, just like any other pot. how do you clean your pots?

  • @beast12101 im usually in east oregon so i usually have access to dry sand or ill use gravel from a creek like you said. I was woundering cause non of my hiking pots are stainless steel. thanks by the way where is a good place to get MRE's

  • @beast12101 take out most of debris then a spoon ful size of common soils or sands with water takes out tough spots . rinse out everything with water then rinse again with clean water. put on the fire for a little while to disinfect it & dry. now you have a canteen that ready to put it back to the case . From the best of the best... a few & proud selfmade U.S. millitary special survival course instructor. ;)

    works great.

  • @OregonBackpacker mu theirs sumin called water maybe thts how they clean em

  • @soul843 no fucking duh i just wanted to hear how he did it.

  • Where did you purchase the lid?

  • @jeordie43 i made it

  • @beast12101 It would be great if you put a video on here about how you made that lid for your canteen cup.

  • Beast, Good Channel. Am from MT. and ur neck of the woods looks similar. Alot of good vids Thanks. Stoked to sip a lil patron and try the Banana nut Krusteaz mix canteen cooking. - @ in MT

  • by alminium pot.

stainless steel pot, titanium pot are safe.

nickel cadnium plated , cooper are best to avoid . good luck.

  • metal poisoning is very very sneaky. makes you crazy ..insne but you can't detact it...because you are the one crazy... get detox NOW.

  • metal poisoning from what? using a stainless steel pot?

  • toxic police are every where !

  • @beast12101 pretty sure he was trying to be funny.

nothing better then well done rice. and on a few oz and several min. defiantly worth it.

  • @beast12101 commonly aluminium. nickel Cadnium is not good also. check your coockware

  • @maxinpains I think your talking about the trace amounts of iron that sometimes comes off when you cook. Since its just a really small amount its safe since your body also needs it - iron helps your blood hold oxygen

  • @kjh081 yeah if it stell or titanium it's great... but if it's made with almnium? forget it. it's hard to chelate it from one's body.

  • instant rice. That's not cookin the rice cheater.

  • Were did u get the heater

  • if you mean the stove I made it

  • o yea i just watched your other video thanks

  • @beast12101 I haven't checked out all your vids yet, but is there one of your stove? I am curious to see more of it and how you built it. What your specs were etc. Cool vid man. Great ideas. ;) Take care.

  • @HollowForm222 yup, its called alcohol stove- gi cook set

  • wat about the bacon vid u said about oh and good vid btw

  • I've got a question. it may sound stupid to you guys. Q:How do can you tell if it's aluminum or stainless steal! because i just bought one similar to yours, and I dont know if mine is stainless stral!

  • Try to scratch it with a nail (not a hardened nail). If it scratches easily it's aluminium. If it doesn't it's stainless.

  • @Aqualiteking when i scratched it, it makes that kind of noise. i hate that kind of noise. like ekkkkk. idk I Im stil not convinced

  • look at the scratch marks. If it is deep enough to feel with your finger or fingernail, it's aluminium. If you see the scratch it but can't feel it, it's stainless. Also try cooking something in it. If the inside discolours e.g goes brown even after youcleaned it, it's aluminium.

  • @akpro13245

There is an easier way! Just use a magnet and see if it sticks to the metal. If it is steel the magnet would stick to it.

You shouldn't cook with aluminum, especially bare aluminum. It is poisonous in high absorption.

You can buy used steel mess kit at an army surplus store along with many other useful items.

  • actually if its real stainless steel its magnetic, but the GI cups arent made from good stainless, its the same as the cheaper china stainless, not magnetic

  • I see. But I tested the Magnet to my Water Canteen. It did not stick at all, is it Stainless?

  • did u ever firgure that out?

  • no =(

  • this is probably the best looking canteen food, great job.

also your muffins are really cool.

thank you for teaching us 2012 survival skills

  • enjoy these Mil. cup cooking videos. tks

  • Yes the military MRE's still come with tobasco, some do come with the crushed red pepper powder packets. I dont want to offend you but it is pronounced

"ZAT-UH-RANS" not "ZATRAINS" lol, I am from south louisiana and eat that rice on a weekly basis. Really good food, anything from zatarains is great, try the jambalaya mix next time! oh and thats pronounced JUMBA-LIE-YA haha. great video!

  • pretty dam good. I'm from the old school, we cooked in our cups and steel pot, for you young guys, that part of your head gear. We did not have MRE'S, C-rat's is what we ate. We made a Son-Of-A-Gun Stew It had ever thing in it that came in a can... Good work good thinking about that lid.

  • the military MREs still come with the little bottles of tabasco, most of them anyway, some now have a dried red pepper packet

  • why do you toast it

  • flavor

  • throw some bugs and dandelions you got some good eating boys

  • Where you get that lid/what you make it out of?

  • add some spam to it hmm

  • cooking in the military 1.0.1 :) cool and u are good at cooking

  • light my fire spork ?? lol......

  • yummy

  • Good video, I do similar but use 5 min flavoured rice which works OK, I add fish or maybe salami or ham

  • darned, im hungry now. :C

  • This is kind of irrelivent but I saw your spork:

What is better a spoon and fork or a fork with rounded edges, Both are called sporks but I think the latter is a true spork.

  • its a Light My Fire Spork, which has both and a serration along the fork for cutting, I like them so much i use them at home.

  • thank goodness, there is such a thing as rice for backpacking... now only if i can make stuff with rice.

  • Zat-uh-ran

    ;)

  • were did you get the cup and lid ? msg me plaese i would love to buy one

  • I made the lid, but the cup is a standard US military canteen cup, you can get them online or at most military surplus stores.

  • Thanks! You inspired me in lots of ways. I'm gonna cook some of recipes and share with you all! You are awesome!

  • excellent , I look forward to your videos.

  • Dude, I like you cup lid. I have an actual canteen cup lid made by a guy in texas back in the 90s.

my total cooking kit consists of Canteen cup w/lid and messkit spoon.

  • Great video. I am experimenting with my canteen cup and also the Heniken can as a pot as well. Trying to decide which one I like the best.

  • good tips, thanks 5/5

  • Great job!

    Bill

  • Great videos, I really enjoy them. I'll give your method a try with my Crusader cup here in the U.K.
