  • Great Khmer Song !

  • it is our soul and spirit ...never give up....

  • im a khmer kid; if i was an mma fighter, this would be my entrance song!!

  • i love this song omg ive been searching for a long time lol yeeeesssss one of his best song

  • proud to be a khmer.. blessed all!

  • I like the added beat, it hits pretty hard on my speakers lol.

  • This song was adapted from a Chinese song called 為了你. The Chinese song title means "Because of You".

  • @LouisLeeKH yeah thats the original, but i think samouth only uses the melody of the song and most of the lyrics are quiet different.

  • Can someone tell me what is the name of the song that goes something like

"Snae nis kuh snae pet, snae nis pet jea snae pikdey"

sorry if I have the lyrics wrong.

But it is a duet. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

  • wow 4 dislikes...how do u not like this song?

  • wow my favorite song, sank q

  • when i listen to these songs it reminds of my childhood when my parents would blast it and clean the house khmer kids these days just dont understand this khmer music

  • It suck and overload Chlangden does not understand music.

  • very good song!

  • I don't usually listen to Khmer music, but this song is PIMP! *

  • I usually don't like listening to Khmer music, but song is PIMP! Lol

  • nice beat

  • @Pkving Lol, He's everywhere stalking everyone! :) Technically Pking, if you know how to say "I love you" and "How are you?", that's knowing more than just a few words, lol. It would be correct to say you know a few sentences since they have complete thoughts. "I love you" is a declarative sentence, and "How are you?" is an interrogative sentence. I'm proud of you for falling inlove with the Beatles's music after having learned how to express yourself. I hope u can take this like a man, lol.

  • @RoxZie212

what the fuck are you talkin`about?? fuck off!! i ain't stalkin' fuckin' you!!` i may be stalkin`others, but not fuckin' smelly you!! d'ohh!!

so you're an english-language professor ehh!! d'ohh!! but "professor", some chinese elders here in english canada who live here 4 more than 30 years can say only "thank you" or "how are you??", and can't say anythin' else. They even get lost if you just ask: "how's your daughter??", d'ohh!!

ok ok sweetheart just jokin'. i love you.

  • @RoxZie212

darlin', i'm deeply sorry 4 my previous reply 2 you. it was 2 harsh. i was drunk when i wrote it, d'ohh!! i thought of removin' it, but if i do, people may not understand clearly what it was like. so i keep it but i withdraw the following words & phrases from it: "fuck off!!", "fuckin'" in "fuckin' you", & "fuckin' smelly" in "fuckin' smelly you".

  • Did u get this song from Chlangden cos I got this song from that and sound the same.

  • @09Bora

I believe this is the Chlangden version with an added beat. To hear the unedited song from a cassette tape, watch my reply to this video.

  • ali71282This is a very good song!!!! I love it so much....!!!!!

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wanna to Cambodia back when i heard Sinn Sisamouth

  • such a wonderful song <3

    Thanks yoouuuu :D

  • whoa! great quality!!!

  • that was cool as.... go the king!!!

  • Wow ! wow ! wow ! Athireach samleng tep !..I want to sing , I want to dance , I want to party ... when I hear sir Sinn sisamouth song it brings everything alive ! Thank U for posting this song, You help keep khmer music alive in khmer hearts.

  • love this song. wonder why cambodian now can not made our own song.

  • excuse what i said earlier about supremescream having the original version without the added beat. i didn't see his response before until after i posted my comment tonight.

  • wow, over ninety thousand people have watched this video! i think supremescream has the original version (w/out the added beat????) xd

  • ohh yea thanks for the Enlish lyrics :)

  • wow love this song so much! sin sisamouth is the greatest.

  • Jeff, could also upload the lyrics for this song? That would be very helpful for those who would like to learn to sing it.

  • woah.. this is good stuff! hope to cover his songs soon

  • this song brings back memories when my mom first let me listen to his music.....good ol' days GREAT artist

  • xkurs,

" ... when my mom first let me listen to his music"??!! so, did she earlier on ban you from listenin' 2 his music?? d'ohh!!

  • this song rocks so hard. the king!!!!!!

  • sounds like a breakdancing song

  • lol...i like jeff's definition of the Khmer word 'oun' in the context of this song. 'Oun' in general means 'you', but referring to someone of a younger person, whereas 'bong', is referring to an older person. i personally prefer to be called by name, especially if the other person doesn't know me; otherwise, it's a little insulting...and really, there is no need to get all mushy with someone you don't know...lol.

  • @RoxZie212 that is what being khmer is about, respect differences of culture lol i rather be warm towards someone rather than cold

  • I'm from NZ and am not Cambodian - but listening to this music I get a deep sense of nostalgia - I cannot translate the words but I fully understand the feeling and emotion in this song. Long live Cambodia - I hope the nation throws up many more artists as great as Sisamouth. Thanks for posting this on YouTube.

  • kiwiduncan,

rite rite you arent cambodian. you simply were cambodian, d'ohh!!

  • @kiwiduncan I took my vacation to Australia a month ago and planned to visit NZ but run short on money, next time I'll have to check out NZ.

  • @kiwiduncan Thank you for fully supporting Cambodia

  • @kiwiduncan

people who believe in re-incarnation would believe that you lived in Cambodia in the 1960s &/or the 1st half of the 1970s in your previous life.

or, are you a cambodian livin' in new zealand?? or are you a new zealander of cambodian origin??

  • @pkving Actually I'm a white guy, 55, New Zealand born. in my country in the 1960s we had artists like the fine Samoan singer, Herma Keil who had a similar vocal presence as Sinn Sisamouth - and local bands had a similar sound to those posted here. So musically perhaps the same influences were at work - a mixture of traditional nuance meets foreign styles. I do visit Cambodia and helped build a school in Bakong district, SR. I can't quite explain - there's just an affinity.

  • @kiwiduncan

    i see, thank you.

  • @kiwiduncan cambodia will never ever produce another sin sisamouth, if you truly love the old stuff you will be absolutely heart broken to hear the facile rubbish that is being made today

  • @SnakyShaker For sure, young Khmer I know in Siem Reap are ALL into hip hop and artists like Chris Brown. I don't know if my reaction to that is because of my age or not. I do think one advantage artists had in the 1960s was that there were fewer radio stations - so when Sisamouth released a new song, it had to appeal widely...and when it did, absolutely everybody was humming it: parents loved it, and their kids did. Now, music is aimed so narrowly. It doesn't bring us together.

  • good sing...

  • this is the man. the greatest cambodian singer ever!! damn pol pot to hell

  • Jeff, if the same song ("Prous Teh Oun") you posted 8 months ago was the original, then who perfected this same song? I like this version more than the original. (By the way, I thought its title was "Perouh Teh Oun"? a while back when I listened to it). Who ever remastered it did a very good job. Congrats! Thanks for posting!

  • this version has an added beat, but the recording is more clear than in the original/unedited version

  • @jeffmagic32 thank you for your response, jeff. great job to the person who altered this song. i love the added beat. it's the same version like the one i favorited from somnearntmey's video.

  • This song is indescribable. With so much we went through as a people and a race, this song makes me feel happy proud to be Cambodian. Thank you for posting this. I remember listening to this when I was a child, while me and my parents were driving around Long Beach.

  • One of my dad's favorite songs. May his soul Rest In Peace.

  • Peace to you and your family you Father had great taste in music.

  • Thank you.

  • i love this song so much, i wish i knew what he was saying though!

  • @beezified He's saying that there's this girl and she's his everything like smile and laughter. Its mainly about love.

  • beezified,

you aint know what he's sayin' & yet you love the song so much ehh!! d'ohh!! well well that's not surprisin'. when i was a kid in phnom penh who didnt understand english at all except a few words like "how are you??" or "i love you", i fell in love with the beatles music.

4 the cambodian soul, samouth is like the beatles & elvis combined 4 the english-speakin' soul.

  • its too bad he was killed during the Khmer Rouge what a loss. such an icon, the greatest Cambodian singer of all time.

  • makes me so sad Khmer Rouge such an upsetting part of history

  • Oooh! I love this song. Love it, love it. Just love it. ;)))))) Thanks for this song jeffmagic32.

  • Hey, why not a radio station over here on the East Coast? There's Cambodians here too. : )

  • Anyone know where I can hear some proper khmer rock? The Hendrix copying type shit?

  • Tantalizing song, brings back childhood memory of Cambodia.

  • yea i will put songs of his on myspace

  • Regardless of his national origion, he was born in Cambodia, married Cambodian woman, spoke only in Cambodian, wrote the song better than all of us put together, please give him a chance and let's honor Mr. Sin Sisamouth in the best way possible.

  • aye..i got a idea..lets invest our money and create a cambodian radio station for southern cali..

  • Count me in. Let's honor Mr. Sinn Sisamouth and let's him reach the pinnacle in music history. If Elvis is the king of rock'n roll then Sinn Sisamouth is the King of Music. I hope his music, his voice will be in the Hall of Fame. Why in California? Why not in Indiana? Please don't tell me that Cambodian only settled in California! You build a platform/stage they will come. Midwest is the grassroot of America. Let's make it happen!

  • dude! thats prime idea. LONG BEACH well be up on that station. haha

  • @stuntnwidhammerz I don't want to pay can I just listen for free?

  • love it... love it!!!

  • LeHuyAnh,

    i believe your'e a female vietnamese. good you're curious.

the cambodian word "teh" has 2 uses. the 1st means "tea". 4 the 2nd, it would take a page 2 describe it. so let's just deal with it in the name of this song.

the word "pruos", the short form of

"pipruos", means "because", & "pruos teh" means "because of". the word "oun" means "you" in english, & its EXACT vietnamese equivalent is "em".

so it's "because of you". ahh, the english "you" aint sentimental, d'ohh!!

  • thanks for uploading! this is one of my favorite song that my husband used to play so often when we were dating!

  • lol that my last name sisamouth but am laos lol

  • he acturally mix with khmer and laos sisamouth that his first name ...

  • "Bong jong rouhs prouhs tae srey. Jet bong smos pheakdey tae oun."

    Cuteee; & favorite part.

  • good song

  • i use to always listen to this song when i was a lilttle kid

  • loool me too!!! brings lots of memories....

  • Just curious, does "Teh" mean "you" in Khmer? If so, then that's a cognate word from Sanskrit.

  • nope - khmer has many words for "you" - in this song its "oun", which is the word "you" for a guy talking to a girl he likes.

  • The title of this song translates to "Because of You". Word for word, "Teh" = "Because of". Whereas "Oun" means "You" referring to a girl or someone of a younger age.

  • "Prous Teh Oun" in English translation is "Because of You" or "For You" So, I would think that "teh" means "of" or "for." Correct me if I'm wrong though. :) Side note FACT: The Asian language in general (unlike any other European language) not cannot be fully translated into English without loosing the quality of meaning.

  • Yes it should be translated to as because of you.

  • LeHuyAnh,

    i believe your'e a female vietnamese. good you're curious.

  • My ultimate favorite song! Thank You!!

  • Me too.

  • thanks for the download. I'm loving this song.

  • Thanks Jeffmagic32, really appreciate that.

In the last part of verse 2 there's one word missing. It should be "janh taing klen TAING kloun sros pisey".

At the beginning of verse 3, "bong sou ah-phorp chenda" I think it should be "bong sou KOM PKORP" which means TRYING TO PLEASE, and rightly so because one line before this he said he does everything for love. I might be totally wrong.

  • Does anyone know the lyrics to this song? I can only get 50% of the words, the rest are unclear.

  • My friend helped me with some lyrics, which I have posted in the 'more info' section off to the right. If anyone thinks there are any errors, let me know and I will correct them.

  • Hey I have the Chinese Version Of this Song!

  • sorry dude. we don't need chinese. we are pround Khmer.

  • Cheethavea Neah! Im Not Chin, I'm Khmer!!

  • This is originally a Mandarin Chinese pop from Hongkong in around 1968. The title is "Because of You".

Sisamouth have recorded many cover versions of foreign songs, he did a great job in broadening the horizon of Khmer pop music scene. You may be proud to be Khmer, but please be humble to appreciate foreign masterpieces and what Sisamouth had done.

  • what good are you doing with stating that fact. what part of your ego is being filled by redirecting khmer people's enjoyment in Sisamouth's songs into an historical observation of the music?

  • dude whats that got to do wit anything?

  • oh yeah? cant you show me?
