@sonsofromance I'd guess that the title comes from time that he spent with Elizabeth Fraser there. That's who this song is about. Possibly he spent time in Vancouver with her?
@delic619: Already talked about that. Actually, I have not found a correct letter for that song. I do not know what is written in the booklet of the album. I've seen two different versions on the Internet. What is correct: 1) "We're where we belong, It should end here, until the end of time", or 2) "Below this we'll end here until the end of time"? I think the first option is correct. See the correction of the lyrics on the side.
@dhadson: REVIEW THE COMMENTS. Corrections have been fixed to the side. See the video posted as a response. You can point to some other errors in the lyrics?
Thank you, amtrotec2, for uploading this gem. So tragic knowing that he had left us so soon, so senselessly. And thank you, Melissa, for posting this @ the other place. There's an all Jeff Buckley tribute project, Possessed By Elves. Get it ~ (•8-D
Jeff Buckley, I've promised myself I will find myself someone exactly like you later on in my life (since you are my ideal husband) Then we will both shift over to Vancouver and live happily ever after!
He seriously gave us more to live for, more than we'll ever know..
Seriously, i'm an avid Jeff Buckley fan from ages ago, and i think this is his best song, followed by Mojo Pin, then Grace. That voice just fucks with your head, it's so good. Just wish there were some other live versions out there than the instrumental. Its instru-MENTAL.
No clue...but damn I will argue this is one of the greatest songs ever...I mean, how can you contend with a lyric like "as if we are pure in the rain of our contentment"? Magick, my friends, Magick!
I was hoping so. I love Vancouver very much, and I also love Jeff Buckley's music very much. I'm delighted that the two have sort of overlapped in this way, even if the song isn't directly about Vancouver.
"Vancouver is a song we wrote while on tour. It was recorded in a studio in Vancouver, Canada. I am good friends with a couple of the players on their hockey team. This song is basically a thank you note to them and the wild nights we shared on the gondola."
Haha, that would have made me look pretty gullible if I believed it. Even so, it has made me question Jeff Buckley's sexuality, so it was a worthwhile experience. Thanks bunches! :D
Yea, his voice was like and instrument. I did'nt hear of his music until after he died. I really wish I had because It would have been awesome to see him live. What a musical genious he was.
What an awesome voice? His album Grace is one of the most unique I've heard in the last 20 years. He mixes hard rock songs with softer covers of old Brit songs from centuries ago.
your lyrics are WAY off

@amtrotec2 Could be Jeff sang different lyrics on different occasions. He would improvise not only in compostion but in lyrics.

Your lyrics are incorrect... in too many places to discuss here. Please check, just by listening to the song you can see they are wrong.

@TomHooligan2007 There are actually.
I'm listening to a not fully developed version of it from his concert in Liquid room in Tokyo Japan right now where he sings.
He also plays the song live at Arlenes Gorcery in 97.

Anyone have any insight in to why the song is called Vancouver? Does it reference Vancouver BC CAN or Vancouver Washington... perhaps the explorer?
questioninghearts 3 years ago
Jeff and the band recorded it in Vancouver, British Columbia while on tour. Hence the title.

Actually the song is about his sexual relationship with Pavel Bure and Kirk McLean. It was recorded during the Canucks Stanley Cup run in '94.
