Move over Jimmy Page, Jerry Douglas is the man. Watch and learn. Look at the other musicians, smiling because they recognize genius. They're all thinking "DAMN!"
James Dupre has released his first country studio debut album on CD Baby.
He's the next country music superstar from Louisiana.
His studio debut album, "It's All Happening'", recorded in Nashville's greatest studios and produced by country music legends Kyle Lehning and Jerry Douglas, showcases James' incredible voice and genuine sound. James Dupre "It's All Happening" available on CD Baby.
It's a Bourgeois Slope D. I played one in a shop recently and found it had a very thin tone, for such an expensive guitar. But it was a beautiful guitar to play. Real easy to play fast up the neck. Most guitars are set up for tone and volume. This one was set up for speed with a loss of tone and volume.
for all of the folks who disregard uncle josh: Go back and listen to bootleg flatt & Scruggs from the early 50s...listen to "head over hills in love w/ you" or try to play "just joshin" and getting the roll right... You can't say you're a fan of the dobro w/out realizing the impact josh made on the instrument(he did for the dobro, what scruggs did for the banjo) ...it's impact is beyond anything anyone else has ever brought to the instrument...
Jerrry is the virtuso who brought the resonophonic guitar to its full realization: on par with any other instrument. No other reso player did that before or since, and maybe never. He is on par with Yoyo Ma, Casals, and Rampal on their respetive instruments. And, yes, even Zamfir on pan pipes.
bah...i could do that in my sleep!!! (it's called dreaming). actually, i bought a dobro, and i enjoy dusting it regularly. anybody know of a GOOD instructional download?
I don't know of a good one but I DON'T recommend "Folk of the Woods" DVD. I'm a complete beginner as well and I thought the DVD sucked. I found a good beginner book but can't remember the name right now. I'll look it up and post back in a day or two.
thanks, many k's and many s's. what does your family call you? i'd settle for "hey you" in that instance. i'll wait for your post, and thanks. happy slidin'!
I hope my neighbors like this song.

It sometimes seems that these guys live to play, yet when they are playing, they're just having fun. Damn.
Heh. Great stuff.

i love it when the musicians smile
i just feel so cold sometimes when musicians play such rapturous stuff and just are stone-faced all the way through.
smile on!
