  • they have the ka24de fwd ur car sounds nice but a little rice but still sounds good. i have a obx 4-2-1 header full 2" piping stock cat & obx muffler & sounds good. go look at it.

    Man, I own an identical one of these turds for my Daily. It's slow and absolutely nothing about it hints at performance. It's a family sedan, seriously. This is a super loud obnoxious exhaust system on a very ugly, very slow car. I don't get it. IMO rice is putting race inspired shit on an otherwise far from anything remotely racing car. That sound is the same exact sound you find on anything with a fart can muffler

    It's a KA24DE, but lots of the stuff doesnt interchange with the rwd version from the 240 but there was a KA24E in the older platforms, pre 93 maybe? i think it was called the stanza

  • o and 1 other question, they have 4-2-1 headers on ebay and 4-1, whats the diff. and is there a pipe i need to get to make up for the front cat not being there or do the new headers already take care of that.

  • 4-2-1 headers are more designed to have a broader power curve in the midrange and all throughout the power band, i think 4-1's are more for top end. i could have that backwards..someone correct me if im wrong. the header and mid pipe that come with the header go all the way back to the stock catylitic converter location

  • i hate the EGR valve, but it is connected to the ECM computer. i am going to order my OBX headers and cat back off ebay, i hear they are knock off on there and the headers hit the altinator. o well. i'll order a magnaflow mid or "rear" CAT Converter. DO you know the part # for your mid Cat and did you throw any exhaust codes or know of anyone throwing exhaust codoes on there altimas using this setup? btw, JWT pop chargers are the best for this car. 100$

  • I just cut my egr valve off, also if you want better fitment i would suggest going with the 4-2-1 header as opposed to the 4-1 header trust it was a bitch to install i had to bang one of the primary tubes to make it fit plus i had to caught some of my engine block also. but once that was done it sounded bad ass lol.

  • when you replaced the cat with the magnaflow one did you replace both or did you do the one in the manifold or the one downstream, and did you just use 1 cat in your final setup? From what i know, if youdont use an egr valve the ECM will not adjust correctly and not only will you throw a code but it tampers with a few other things, but i am not an expert so thats not a fact. did you ever notice more performance ith just the OBX system or the New system on yur altima?

  • yeah,i got a header too so the pre cat was eliminated, then re-used my old magnaflow cat that was on my old exhaust. yeah your bang on with what you said about the EGR/ECM, i've tried different resistors but nothing seems to be working. i may just put the EGR back on..but i doubt it. I think I'll be ditching my cat soon, getting all the bugs worked out(egr and a few other codes), throw an safc in and see what happens. Yeah there is a difference, not huge..but definately worth the $300 or w/e imo

  • hey, i have the same car and i am looking to do the same thing and prob will go with this same setup, maybe put a 40 series magnaflow as the muffler instead, is there a mid muffler on these altima's? where is the resonator located? and what did the egr valve deleted system do for to car cause i am very intrested in how thats working out for you.

  • hey, yeah replacing the obx muffler with a magnaflow is pretty popular, lots of altima guys do that. the resonator is pretty much right under where the back seat is if i remember right, and thats the only mid muffler, there are 2 cats, one in the manifold, one downstream. the egr valve didn't really do too much for me performance wise..i think the car runs significantly richer though. i only did it because i wanted to get rid of emissions. fuel economy is down a bit, but its hard to say if its

  • it's directly related to the EGR delete or not, I think i may need a new fuel pressure regulator or maybe injectors. This car sat for like 3 years before I started driving it, and it was only on the road last summer for about 2 weeks then it was in an accident..so it's almost ready to go back on the road now and hopefully i get the fuel economy issues sorted out. Right now, my 4 liter 4x4 ranger gets better gas mileage..so something is definately up.

  • hey, i tinted my taillights using a krylon kandy tint, i got it from a local hobby shop, but you can get it at any automotive paint place..just ask for a dense mix of kandy and clear for tinting glass.

    i left one reverse light unpainted for legality purposes. in my "open header video" you can see where i painted the 2 front corner lights as well.

  • i got a 93 alty with a 97 ka24de with the obx header too. cat is off with jdm injectors with a cold air in take. sounds awesome. faster than i thought it would be. next is a 100k volt ignition system and a bigger maf. what next??

  • what are you talking about? you mean an msd box or something? i would get some cams, safc or emanage..and a tune. probably run you around $600 or so but it would be a noticeable difference..maybe remove some weight, these cars are heavy pigs.

    aside from that, i wouldn't really bother too much with modifications personally on these cars...but...if thats what your into...i know theres a bunch of boosted altimas around that seem to be fairly quick...or you could go further into a N/A build..

  • thanks man. it turns out my "OBX" header was actually a knockoff..i had to drill the holes a little bigger, as well as notch some of my alternator out, but if its a genuine OBX header you shouldn't have much difficulty.

    As for the cat back, it fit great and I have no complaints. I had to make some flanges up because the exhaust had been patched before...but if you have the stock setup it should just bolt right up.

  • Yo dude is it a catback then from what I reading or is it a muffler weld on. Also if it was a Muffler was it round lookin or oval if u remember.

  • true, it is in the title though..yeah its a catback. sorry about the confusion. "OBX PRO-SERIES TYPE-H SUS-304 FULL STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST SYSTEM" that's what the ebay ads describe them as, just search "93 97 altima obx" on ebay, theyre $129 + shipping. the header is also obx, found it for around the same price on ebay as well.

  • yeah its a front wheel drive KA24DE, im not sure what kind of muffler it is, a crappy one i guess would be the best answer lol. 2.25" in/out..not sure on other dimensions. sorry i cant help you out more..its just an ebay special.

  • thanks bud. i got the header and catback off of ebay for around 300 a piece if my memory serves me right. i made a set of flanges for my magnaflow high-flow cat, and ordered an EGR blockoff plug from nissan and deleted my Exhaust Gas Recirculation system when i was at it. It has a nice tone but its just way too loud, you can hear someone's car alarm going off at :32. I may add another resonator in the spring. thanks again.
