  • "Sam, dear Sam, for the rest of the way, we shall...crawl." Kills me every time

  • The way that Sam says "GAWD HELP US!" is just priceless.

  • Poor Gollum, he looks so confused and sad. Why's the Ring opening up to Frodo?

  • @ElleRoni Poor Gollum? Poor Frodo!

  • 4:40 when Gollum trips he just takes it like a champ. lol

  • 5:37 Gollum looks funny

  • Um... how can Sam hit mr. Frodo at all? Can't he just strike at Gollum?

  • The CGI Gollum is LOTR is okay, but this is just a cooler scene

A-Gollum throwing a big rock to take down the hobbits(TAKE THIS, WICKED MASTER).

B-Did you notice he called Frodo "wicked MASTER". Too bad no one ever animated the whole Shelob thing.

C-The Ring has awesome powers in the cartoon.

  • yes i guess you are correct about the frog thing cause it was like that in the book... But i still love the gollum in peter jackson lotr. he had more personality you felt sorry for him but disliked hime at the same time.... i guess we are not gonna agree are we :)

  • The eye in this is way creepier.

  • why does the Eye of Sauron look like a rotten onion?

  • this part NEVER fails to make me rofl.

  • Away you, SCUM!

  • @stitch99 Oh yeah?My friend came over while I was watching LOTR and asked me to split an oz. of cocaine with him and go to S.Beach.I had just been shreddin my biceps in the gym and was down, considering the twin Brazilian Bombshells I met last night were blowin up my I-Phone and wanted to chill. So me and my bro-ski hit one more round at the gym to wail on our pecs and wash board abs. After my protien shake I hit the showers, and a couple of lines after 3 Johnny Walker Blues.Woke up smellin like RIO

  • @rush1er

    At least mine was on-topic.

  • @stitch99 I call my ex-girlfriend Cracks of Doom... cuz I got syphllis from her vagina and her butthole gave me poop-dick.

  • gollum is a frog?

  • That door is incredibly small...

  • @Parklout

How did Sauron fit inside it?

  • @KATTALNUVA3 Exactly my thought :)

  • HOLY SHIT ITS A GIANT APE-FROG

  • Lmao Sam was just insulting Gollum the whole time I couldn't stop laughing "you DIRTY mothafucka gollum you are"

  • gollum is a frog?

  • GOLLUM LOOKS LIKE A FREAKIN' FROG THING WITH EARS O.O

    God help us

  • @ROOKI3LINKX

When Gollum first appears in The Hobbit, he is described as "a small slimy creature [with] two big round pale eyes in his thin face". Later, it's mentioned that Gollum had "long fingers", "large flat feet", and six teeth (including fangs). That's all the description we ever get of him. So, actually, Gollum looks exactly like he's supposed to.

  • @zvermilyer3 I know, I read the book. But he's green and furry here. He looks like a furry frog thing, you can't deny it. I'm not sure he looked like that in The Hobbit. I reread it last week, so I know.

  • @ROOKI3LINKX

I'm glad to know that you actually read the book. I don't see any fur on this version of Gollum, although he certainly does look very frog-like. Still, given how he was described in the book, I think you can at least understand where the filmmakers got that idea.

  • @zvermilyer3 Or is that his loin cloth? Cuz it sorta looks like fur or something. And yes I read the book :D When I heard that The Hobbit was being made into a movie, I asked my mom if I could borrow her copy of it, and read it's heart out :)

  • this was terrible lol. peter jackson's version is 20X better lol

  • @grechyweiners Yeah, I'm pretty sure the animated movie fails at life too.

  • @ROOKI3LINKX Glad somone agrees :)

  • @grechyweiners Yeah :) I mean, I know it's animated, and it was in the 80's but the 80's had great movies going on that this one turned out like a pile of awful. And Gollum looks like some weird furry frog thing with ears on top of that.

  • @ROOKI3LINKX Sam and frodo also sound really stupid and the whole "doom song"??? whats up with that

  • @grechyweiners Ugh, I know. After I saw this on TV a few years ago, all I could say was "Good lord, it hath begun." then I wanted to kill myself. How could you make a bad Lord of the Rings movie. Even a low budget piece of crap would be a LOT better than this.

  • @ROOKI3LINKX I agree :)

  • @grechyweiners However, nothing can beat the masterpiece trilogy that was made by Peter Jackson :)

  • @grechyweiners Its a sin to lie.

  • @Visser0x what do you mean its a sin to lie???..

  • @grechyweiners Nothin' nothin' I just wound't go around any pizza places any time soon if I were you, the real zealots for this movie hang around there alot.

  • @Visser0x Hey!! i was just saying what i thought about it.... peter jackson gollum was much better the this one ( it did not look like a frog fish thing but an actual distorted hobbit) and. the song was just plan pointless. Don't like it too bad buddy... :)

  • @grechyweiners Gollum was supposed to look like a frog though, and he looked more like a starved hobbit than a distorted one.

  • @Visser0x He wasn't supposed to look like a frog, he was just colloquially described as one in the book. He was one of the river folk and was distorted through long life and complete darkness. Ugly and pasty, basically.

  • @GameBeard the ring distorted him , giving him a frog like apperince and judging from the fact he mainly eats fish that would work to his advantage.

  • if Ralph Bakshi made a sequel to the 78 lotr cartoon, how retarded sam would threat gollum?

  • When Sam says God shouldn't he be saying

    VALAR HELP US

  • @glorfindelthebadass nononono. GOOOOOOOOD HEEELPASS

  • Gollum is the end road of addiction and sin.

"Whoever sins is a slave to sin"

Gollum is a great example of this. He barely thinks of anything besides his precious ring, addiction drives him to go to great lengths get the ring while his health is reduced to near zero. He is a crawling, emaciated creature when he found them who only had strength due to his all-consuming craving for the Ring.

His life was miserable, like Sam said he was wretched and pathetic but extremely pitiable.

  • I feel kinda bad for Gollum.

  • Wow, John Huston as a narrator sucks. "...the ACCURSED... Mt. Doom! :D"

  • i love when Frodo goes all Ring Bearer on Gollum and Samwise is just like....."well, i guess Mr. Frodo's got it...i'll just chill here" at 5:43

  • dooooooooooom

  • 1:53 soin this version of ROTK the eye of Sauron is in the dark clouds over Mordor, not atop the dark tower of Barad Dur.

  • The words: "wicked master cheat us, Gollum" should've been used PJ' version of ROTK.

  • Gollum does 2 barrel rolls in this vid.

  • the part where he scares the hell out of Gollum while holding the ring is epic

  • Gollum looks scarier in this one than he does in The Hobbit. Lol!

  • I mean, really. This was the folcrum of the entire story, and Peter Jackson didn't quite get it... but this animation studio did.

  • Strangely enough, the segment between 5:00 and 7:00 min is the most faithful adaptation of Tolkien ever attempted on film.

  • @acates1976 The words between 7:14-7:42 were accurately said in this ROTK cartoon, but not PJ's movie.

  • One of the most profound moments of the entire series. It's too bad Peter Jackson's narrative never quite caught onto the importance of this moment, like the cartoon did.

  • Thank you disembodied, deep voiced choir for describing everything that's going on!

  • 5:20 - 5:58 KICKS ASS

  • "GOD help us" lol

  • Also:

Frodo: "If you touch me ever again, you shall be cast yourSELF into the fire of doom!"

Golem: "When Precious goes, we will die!"

And, in the end, he was right: Golem touched him, and was cast into the fire of doom, thus dying with his Precious!

  • Charisma: Frodo with ring HAS IT!

Seriously, every time I see that scene with Frodo grabbing the ring, I get chills. The power of the scene. The AWESOME use of the music (which itself is already great). The sheer spectacle of watching Frodo transform from a tired, beaten-up little Hobbit into He Who's Steps Make Gods Tremble. Hearing him threaten Golem as the thing cowers down, where seconds ago it was full of murderous hatred. Hell, even Sam lowering his sword with a look that says "HolyS***".

  • Comment removed

  • After just re-watching the Movies recently and now watching this clip.... I think I like froggy-Gollum more than movie Gollum. O.o Though, I've always loved frogs so....

  • Why the hell don't they use swords on Gollum? If he's getting ready to attack/rape them, I would stab the hell out of him.

  • 5:27

    Frodo goes super sayian

  • Gollum scares me :D

  • gollum looks like a deranged frog

  • @WeaslysWizardWeezes

Actually, Gollum's description in the books does make him sound pretty frog-like: In The Hobbit, he is called "a small slimy creature" with "two big round pale eyes in his thin face", "large feet" and "flat hands", and in the prologue to The Fellowship of the Ring, he is said to have "long fingers", his eyes are described as "luminous" and his feet as "flat". So the depiction of him in this film is actually pretty faithful to the book.

  • @zvermilyer3

Hah! Really? I knew there was a reason I always liked froggy Gollum. :D

  • @WeaslysWizardWeezes He was described as frog-like in the book as well.

  • 4:42 wtf?...

  • "Begon and trouble me no more. If you touch me ever again, you shall be cast yourself into the fire of Mount Doom..."

  • Doom... the cracks of doom... the chambers of fire... the fires of doom!

  • Doom... the cracks of doom... the chambers of fire... the fires of doom!

  • Why does Gollum look like the down syndrome crack baby of prince charles and kermit the frog?

  • 2:30 Did you see...when the clouds FARTED! LOL

  • @granpapi29 Parted

  • is this fake? is this a fake movie?

  • @213Corndog No, this is real, I used to own it on VHS.

  • @Flapjack484 thats unfortunate

  • @213Corndog no. it's official.

  • @MagicalKirbyGal that too is unfortunate

  • @ 5:25.....yeah. that's just awesome.

  • I think in both versions Frodo should've grabbed Sting and stabbed Gollum

  • HAHAHAHA! I can't stop laughing at Gollum! That's one of the funniest things I have seen in my life! XD

  • A boulder throwing frog :L Nice.

  • 5:44 Sam's like...woah Mr. Frodo.

  • Man... that's a great song.... The Bearer of the Ring, the Wearing of the Ring!

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperSaiyanAl -- I quote the book: "But remember what Gandalf said, even Gollum may have a part to play? But for him, Sam, I could not have destroyed the Ring... so let us forgive him! I'm glad you're here with me, here at the end of all things." (Mt. Doom blows up)

Also, there is a credible argument that the Ring speaks thru Frodo (or vice versa) and condemns Gollum to fall in the fire if he attacks Frodo. This proves to be the Ring's undoing.

  • "Doooooooom...The cracks of DOOOOM.

  • Comment removed

  • oh come on, they just got beaned with a fucking boulder XD how are they still living after that!?

  • For those who don't like this particular scene probably haven't read the book, since it's straight from the book (and the live action version was twisted to make Gollum the villain!)

  • The hell kind of book were you reading? Gollum WAS the villain. Regardless of how his actions panned out, he still attacked and tried to kill Sam and Frodo for selfish reasons. Sounds pretty villainous to me.

  • @SuperSaiyanAl Agreed! Gollums definately full of Villany! Lets also never forget that: He stalked Bilbos family for over 50 years Attempted stranglings Lured them to Shelobs den Lived by Murder & Foul play Vengeful Through a BOULDER at them and plotted against them even before biting off Frodo;s finger. Yep, Gollums one tough villan indeed!.....even if he did save Middle Earth.
  • And of course "Where there's a Whip There's a Way" makes the whole thing worthwhile.

  • OK, much of this movie is cheesy filler because they had to improvise on top of Bakshi's clusterf** of a movie. But the actual scenes they had with dialogue in this were straight from the book, mostly scenes PJ's ROTK cut altogether. (PJ said he didn't want to spend a whole movie showing hobbits crawling thru Mordor.) Plus the voice and animation of the lead characters is really good. Too bad about all that cheesy filler to make it kid-friendly.

  • Wow, this version of Frodo can really act. Forgot about this. Where were the scenes like this in the live action film?

  • gollum in this reminds me of a kappa

  • Ah yes...Green Gollum used to give me the creeps as a kid but is STILL a beloved animated character. One of the highlights of watching Rankin/Bass' ROTK wasGOLLUM Scenes! Brother Theodore did a phenominal job revoicing such an awesome villan! He made him more threatening and angry than his Hobbit counterpart!

Sure, alot of people do give him a bad rep for his Green appearance; but hey, its to be dramatic and point out that hes middle-eartgs 1st mutant!

Hell, he could be Slythes Great Granpa!

  • Uau, If i were 8 y.old again, that would really really impress me.

  • Where the f--- is the eye of Sauron?!!

  • Sam seems braver than Bakshi's Sam, "Ohohohohoho Mr. Frodoooo! I want my bottle!"

  • This movie sucks, especially when you compare it to The Hobbit.

  • then why watch it and leave a stupid comment on it?

  • The movie, The Return of the King (direct sequel to the animated Hobbit) sucks. I wasn't referring to this clip specifically.

  • At some points...yeah it does suck compared to The masterpiece of "The Hobbit". But if Rankin/Bass were allowed to do The Fellowship and The Two Towers...ROTK probably would have been handled differently. But hey, its not all bad! All the voice actors returned! And who wouldnt want to see Gollum back in action! I mean... He got WAY MORE screen time and got revenge on Bilbo...by biting the finger off his nephew! So sure, its ok compared to THe Hobbit, but ROTK still rules! Yay Green Gollum!

  • Gollum here reminds me of Slythe from Thundercats - another Rankin-Bass creation but not for another 5 or 6 years :)

  • Some people complain a lot about Gollum. In Rankin/Bass' defense, when Tolkien wrote "the hobbit", Gollum was not well described. So, when Rankin/Bass' made "the hobbit" they used only that description. Therefore explaining why Gollum looks the way he does. And if they'd changed Gollum's appearance, that would have confused a lot of "the hobbit"-fans.

I always liked how they run in this movie, and the main voice-actors (like Gandalf, Frodo). But I never liked that they use"God"...

  • if you could see ralph bakshi's "gollum" in his attempt at LOTR you would think this one was great.

  • Yeah, hobbits don't necessarily believe in divine beings. They acknowledge the existence of elves, but as a distance, uninfluential race.

  • the hobbits gollum is grey

this gollum is green weird an't it why is that do you know?

  • that rock must have been made of plastic prop material, otherwise theyde have beeen squished or at least got thier feet hurt

  • I cracked up when Frodo went all Bearer of the Ring on Gollum.

  • @emperorIng360 that was epic!

  • lol, I think Gollums' condition has worsened since the Hobbit .

  • lol sam is the first christian in middle earth lol =P if gollum hanged around any longer samd probly become a phrophet.

  • gollum looks like a frog lol

  • :43 DOOOOOMMM :) Love that song.

  • YAY! Frodo not being frustratingly angsty :D

    AND caring for Sam :D

hehe, Gollum sound even crazier in this version xD

  • "Gooood help us!" Does that crack anyone else up?

Gollum looks like he came from a bad 60s monster movie.

  • omg i cant stop laughing i think i'm going to die of laughter

  • i like it when the r rolling down the mountain at 4:23

  • It pisses me off on how they make Barad-dur look like Cinderella's castle.

  • Barad-dur looked pretty scary to me when I watched it. I thought the Barad-dur in this ROTK cartoon was even scarier looking than in Peter Jackson's version.

  • How is that scarier? If I put a pleasant environment around it, with birds chirping and merry villagers singing, then it would be a nice castle that you wouldn't mind living in. Barad-Dur in Peter Jackson's masterpiece, there's no way you could do that. It would still look like Satan's Tower, just not as much in a depressing environment.

  • I guess you're right. Perhaps the fact that the Barad-dur in this cartoon was in a desolate environment and a very dark grim sky that made it look so scary. I don't know about you but I thought the Rankin-Bass RETURN OF THE KING was alot scarier than Peter Jackson's version. It gave me nightmares and it still gives me the creeps a little bit even to this day.

  • eew! Gollum is a fishy thing!

  • When Frodo starts glowing it looks like he is about to go super sayin or something.

  • gollum looks like a frog.

  • lmao its kind of gay how there is a narrator

  • this is so cute!

  • Someone should post the cartoon version of the Fellowship of the Ring. I can't find it.

  • Why the heck don't I remember this part?

  • oh, see I couldn't kill him either if he was begging like that. Even though I know what would've happened, I still couldn't do it.

  • This is like Flight of Dragons but Gollum sounds like Count Duckula lol

  • John Huston is the best Gandalf of them all! His voice is great, it fits The Wandering Wizard perfectly!

  • Absolutely! This movie has the definitive Gandalf.

  • I totally agree 100%:)

  • Even though it's your opinion, it is incorrect. Sir Ian McKellen is Gandalf.

  • Sir Ian McKellen did an absolutely incredible, oscar-worthy job. He was amazing as Gandalf. But I believe that John Huston captured the character's personality better.

  • I respectfully disagree.

  • I agree. John Huston's voice stands out in my mind as Gandalf.

  • gollum looks retarded

  • good upload, novuso! i miss this movie!

  • Wah!!! I love this movie! I saw this last when I was 5 or 6 yrs old. I just saw Flight of Dragons last night on youtube in 13 segments and it was awesome! This makes me so happy!Do you think you could upload the whole LOTR animation? That would be soooo great!
