A majority of Canadians oppose the hunt. Since the European ban on seal parts, the economic value of this activity has plummeted. The practice tarnishes Canada's image and international reputation. The Canadian government could easily pay the hunters to stop hunting, and recoup those losses through increased tourism revenue and the enhanced marketability of Canada's international image.

Not sure it is a smart idea. 300,000 seals are killed within 3 weeks of hunt. 500 fake seals, that's 1 for every 600 seals killed (and 1 out of 12,000 seals). How distracting! That's a stupid idea.

I don't think it was meant to stop the seal hunt. From what I've heard europe is just about to ban all seal products so the hunt should stop eventually. I think sea shepherd were just trying to say they won't back down from their anti-sealing position while having a little fun too.

Actually, I don't know. When I heard on the news that seals will be shipped to Asia if Europe boycots them, I just thought "Oh god, the problem won't be over at all even with Europe's boycott". That's all I remember, that the problem won't be over. The only way to stop seal hunt is to stop seal hunt!

You know nothing about animal food industry (maybe because you are too young). It's as crual as seal hunt. I think that all living creatures should be respected and that no one can decide on what they are going to respect or not. That does not mean not to kill them. They can also be killed with respect and without pain. You asked if I ever killed a spider. Of course I did. Before, I did not mind leaving them agonising before dying. Now if I kill an insect (I prefer to just put them back outside my house) I make sure they die fast.
