The less expensive Jaguar XF is much better looking than this more expensive and exclusive XJ. The cheaper XF is the best looking saloon car on the road. Ian Callum did an incredible design with the XF, XFR and the XK, also the Aston Martin.

Jaguar was very bad, and they decided to change all of their cars, the xk, the xf and now the xj. I think they are all fabulous !!!! It has lost hit's traditional touch because they had to. Did you knew that since the new xf, the sales in Portugal have gone up 62 % ?

I was at the premiere at Saatchi in London last year when it debuted on July 9 and having visited both the Browns Lane and Castle Bromwich factories they've said so. Like most European automakers they offer a full domestic range of trim levels compared to N.A. models which come loaded with extra emblems for foreign representation.
@MadDogMeh So do I, my dad has owned both the '00 & '01 VDP S/C X308 sedans and an X350 model, that was back in Texas. All of them came with front leapers, but I have never seen them on any Jaguars on visits to the UK and other parts of the E.U. Even Mexican-market models which follow E.U. specifications, even have front leapers like American ones. I guess they do that like how some Mercedes models in Germany don't them and how some Lexus cars were badged as Toyotas in Japan.

The front of the car is extremely stylish, very maserati. Unfortunately the rear is quite a contrast, it looks pinched and very narrow. In profile the jag is very nice indeed, not far off audi's a6. I would say the front of the car is good enough to forgive the rear, but if only that rear was a bit more stylish and better resolved, this could have been best looking saloon out there today.

Not sold on the new design. I visited a showroom over the weekend. I do love the interior but outside, its too much like everything else on the roads. They pulled one out and parked it next to my black XJR it looked mundane. At a distance it could have been a Lexus for God sake.
Ive always favoured Jags over BMWs and Mercs because I liked the traditional looks. This is not an ugly car, and probably the best car Jaguar has ever built but it just doesnt do it for me looks wise.

This is the most ghastly vehicle I've ever seen. It looks like a badly disfigured whale. How does this monstrosity inherit the Jaguar XJ name? Only because the Indian owners have no respect for the marque.
Well, I sadly find the exterior design of this car pretty common and meaningless. The back lines in particular are a lame mess, specially on the sides, 1:36.
On the contrary, the elegant and bravado styling of the old Jaguars was incomparable to any other contemporary car. The future nothing, I love Jag but they could have come out with something more distinctive.
Well, that's the company's future, they've chosen it and there's nothing you or I can do about it, love it or hate it... Mind you, I'm not contradicting you, I've said it before and I say it again, I love the classic jag design, but I love the new one, too. On this matter, we can agree to disagree, yeah?
This is the production version, I hope not! Look at the panel gaps! You can see a huge 'crevis' at 21 secs and 38 secs into the video when the bonnet meets the nose. I have a Lexus GS300 so maybe that is why I am noticing this so much but even a Ford doesn't have panel gaps this big. This car cannot be a production model!
Jaguar are just adapting to suit modern tastes. Personally I think the new XJ is the best looking car I've ever seen. Try looking at it without comparing it to its predecessors but as a whole new car. Maybe even forget its a Jaguar.
Fantastic front end, interior and engines. However the only reason the rear pillars are painted black is because the designers couldnt resolve the proportions, second rate designers, othewise if painted in the overall body color this car looks like a hatck back!

The Rover Fastback Van den Plas of the 70-ties was the start of the End of Rover! This one, which looks like a Design Study from Bertone out of the 70-ties marks the beginning of the End of the Jaguar Brand! I promise you this!
it is like an english saloon with no fake materials and smells and show off tech. royal , aristocratic. my friend has 2006 7 series and the fake wood imitation is peeling off. not to mention swetty sinthetic leather( it is NOT leather! ) the plastic paint is peeling off next to switches due to use! 52 000 miles and he was 7 times in cervice , each time more than 2 weeks.
i ran my jag 60000 miles and now 160000 with 0 problems. and i drive the jag like would be an M5.
i like it couse it kept the difference and to be above BMW and merc. the front astonish and the back is Lancia Thesis. but overall very original and proportionate. on street i barely observe new BMW 7 or s class. this one and lexus L is taking the sight and jumps out of the image.
i have an xj 6 and i love it . no other car can grow to your heart like these evergreen artsy design and real quality inside.
Hmm! Looks very odd. I think back side is too massive which is produced by a vertical narrow tail lights. From rear view it reminds chines/korean design studio examples or whatever but jaguar british style. C-pillars looks cheap.
In whole XJ seems to be a bit disharmonious.
XF body I like much more in spite of the fact that XF is not that good car that jaguar can build.
the s-class, the 7 series etc. always were the better cars. the only reason to buy a XY was his beauty! but this one is ugly as hell! i don't think jaguar has a future with cars like that

i hav to agree with you. Jaguar of old were very simply styled yet effective e.i the e-type had a huge bonnet and a sloping rear but it still was, and is, one of the most stunning cars of all time. But modern jaguars: XF, XJ etc. look too complicated and... busy. They're a bit different and im not sure i like that
You are right John. I love Jags and the XJ40 is by far the best. I spent a grand on one. Its immaculate, its a 4 litre, so fast and comfortable and still smells of leather inside! F**k BMW and Mercs. My dad has a CLK and its rubbish!
Im not sure about the shape of the lights on the rear end. Thr body shape is fine, its just the lights look too small and sometimes ugly at some angles.
I must say, as a long standing fan of Jaguars, I wasn't sure about this radical change - until I saw one in the flesh 3 days ago! WOW! It looks fabulous on the road, and the controversial back end really works! Reminds me of a Maserati believe it or not!

It's a pity nobody else agreed with you, as they all bought BMW's and Audi's. Sales were diminshing so Jaguar had to do something completely radical. I suggest you reserve your opinions until you get to see one on the road. It looks stunning and the interior is brilliant.
The older XJ at 1:18 catches my eye far more than the new one. The front end of the new XJ is quite nice and an improvement over the XF, but the middle of the car to the rear is an abomination.

Well, I sadly find the exterior design of this car pretty common and meaningless. The back lines in particular are a lame mess, specially on the sides, 1:36.
On the contrary, the elegant and bravado styling of the old Jaguars was incomparable to any other contemporary car. The future nothing, I love Jag but they could have come out with something more distinctive.

This is the production version, I hope not! Look at the panel gaps! You can see a huge 'crevis' at 21 secs and 38 secs into the video when the bonnet meets the nose. I have a Lexus GS300 so maybe that is why I am noticing this so much but even a Ford doesn't have panel gaps this big. This car cannot be a production model!

Jaguar are just adapting to suit modern tastes. Personally I think the new XJ is the best looking car I've ever seen. Try looking at it without comparing it to its predecessors but as a whole new car. Maybe even forget its a Jaguar.

Fantastic front end, interior and engines. However the only reason the rear pillars are painted black is because the designers couldnt resolve the proportions, second rate designers, othewise if painted in the overall body color this car looks like a hatck back!

dont loke the look of the rear end an i dont like the front end of the XF
so on style wise the XF needs a bit of XJ front end and the XJ need a bit of the XF rear end

it is like an english saloon with no fake materials and smells and show off tech. royal , aristocratic. my friend has 2006 7 series and the fake wood imitation is peeling off. not to mention swetty sinthetic leather( it is NOT leather! ) the plastic paint is peeling off next to switches due to use! 52 000 miles and he was 7 times in cervice , each time more than 2 weeks.
i ran my jag 60000 miles and now 160000 with 0 problems. and i drive the jag like would be an M5.

i like it couse it kept the difference and to be above BMW and merc. the front astonish and the back is Lancia Thesis. but overall very original and proportionate. on street i barely observe new BMW 7 or s class. this one and lexus L is taking the sight and jumps out of the image.
i have an xj 6 and i love it . no other car can grow to your heart like these evergreen artsy design and real quality inside.

Hmm! Looks very odd. I think back side is too massive which is produced by a vertical narrow tail lights. From rear view it reminds chines/korean design studio examples or whatever but jaguar british style. C-pillars looks cheap.
In whole XJ seems to be a bit disharmonious.
XF body I like much more in spite of the fact that XF is not that good car that jaguar can build.

i hav to agree with you. Jaguar of old were very simply styled yet effective e.i the e-type had a huge bonnet and a sloping rear but it still was, and is, one of the most stunning cars of all time. But modern jaguars: XF, XJ etc. look too complicated and... busy. They're a bit different and im not sure i like that

You are right John. I love Jags and the XJ40 is by far the best. I spent a grand on one. Its immaculate, its a 4 litre, so fast and comfortable and still smells of leather inside! F**k BMW and Mercs. My dad has a CLK and its rubbish!

Great Front end, it looks awesome.
Im not sure about the shape of the lights on the rear end. Thr body shape is fine, its just the lights look too small and sometimes ugly at some angles.

I must say, as a long standing fan of Jaguars, I wasn't sure about this radical change - until I saw one in the flesh 3 days ago! WOW! It looks fabulous on the road, and the controversial back end really works! Reminds me of a Maserati believe it or not!

The older XJ at 1:18 catches my eye far more than the new one. The front end of the new XJ is quite nice and an improvement over the XF, but the middle of the car to the rear is an abomination.
