  • the last voice at 1:55 sounds familiar.

  • At 0:35 the Possum Net with Mikey, Crusty, and the rest of the gang...they are still on around 3843 LSB on 80m....great to listen to hilarious and informative too.

  • Oh man this video makes me want one of these babies. Actually I'm looking at the Satellit 800, Satellit 750, and the Sangean ATS-909X. Any ideas on these radios? Thanks!

  • Close Call but I'd have to say the Grundig 800 although I did have an EARLY version on the Grundig 750 it was off frequency on AM broadcast!

  • hi

Any opinion, the best Grundig Satellite 800 or Grundig Satellite 750?

    Thank you

  • @bander10000 The 400. :-)

  • I thought the "Bandswitch" button said "Sandwich" at first glance. I say, what does the sandwich function do?!

  • "THE BAND SHORTWAVE RADIO IN Diffusion CONCERN IN AM, SSB, CW and LSB? And WHY? NO INTERFERENCE WITH OTHER ONE? GREETINGS FROM CHILE.

  • I have a satellite 750 being delivered to my house tomorrow. I'm just starting to get into shortwave. Did you get yours yet?

  • Does anyone know what external antennae is best for grundig 750 satellit sw radio ? Both for SW and another antenna for FM. Thanks.

  • There appears to be a man stuck inside this radio!!

  • Pity Grundig doesn't make rig like the Yaesu 8800, something that covers from .500 khz to 3300. Mhz for about the same price as this radio.

Wonder why this guy didn't tune in the 160m. 80m is full of folks chewin the rag at night. Tune in around 1892 and do a swl WAS.

  • @kb4iuj Boy did the point go over your head.

  • Nice rig I had one for years and loved it,it;s the best shortwave rig that I've owned and I had all the different RS rigs that they sold. You can't beat the audio on the Sat 800 it was as good as my $3000.00 Kenwood ham rig!!! My only beef is the meter is very tight on the sat 800

  • Wow no clicking what so ever. I have a TECSUN PL-230 and to DX the SW band I have a click between the frequencies. I love your radio!

  • Interesting chat on this video. Pizza cutters and jalapenos. lol

  • Nice radio i see this one in radioshack all the time. Any way there is allways people talking about somthing interesting out there i can listen to some people for hours :-) 73's Andy (From) Nick

  • I love the face in the window, I have to do this with mine but wear a strange disguise

  • Did you use a long-wire antenna and ground the radio?

    There's too much static.

  • even if he had a resinate antenna , which he migh have been using , the static is normal on the shortwave bands, espically 160, 75, and 40 meters. A ground would eliminate the kind of nouse your hearing.

  • Thanks for your question. Antenna used in this demo was a G5RV antenna, one of the best simple and inexpensive antennas with the most coverage.Static is pretty common on 75 meters especially during the summer!

  • Indeed. Static is common place on that particular band, actually it sounded quieter than normal. Good video.:-) That

antenna you use BTW is a great one, congratulations, you have a pretty bad ass setup IMO.

  • gimmee.

  • O my god I see the face of a little man trap inside a radio....Come out little buddy.

  • the face in the "mirror" is kind a cool effect.

    was it intention?

  • Nope,Rubbing Alcohol and paper towel does an amazing job cleaning doesn't it???? HAHAH

  • hello OM!a great receiver this satellit!!i have the 500!i love grundig receiver!bye

  • nice rig, just wished they make that tuning knob twice the size!

  • Hey do you know what serial number the radio was or if you had any of the reported quality issues with this radio? Thanks

  • I remember it was one of the later serial numbers and don't recall having any problems that I remember people talking about. I have to admit that the AM BROADCAST BAND reception without some sort of external antenna is fair at best. The radio was really too big for my usage as well but you cannot get a better sound then the Grundig 800! I would not recommend it for a portable radio, the built in AM Ferrite Core antenna is very small as I am told. I was usning a G5RV antenna with this Demo.

  • Cool, thanks. I just ordered one so I was just wondering what you thought of your rig.

  • Before I sold it I found the serial number and found how the seriel number showed the date of manuafacture.

  • It's interesting that Grundig is coming out with a Satellit 750 this year. I wonder if it'll be as good as the 800. Thanks for posting ! 73: N2PTF

  • Thanks for the information,Wow,it's nice to see them come out with a new one. I sold the one in this video as AM broadcast with built in antenna reception was fair at best and this unit was just EXTREMELY large! Looks like they might have improved things with the rotatable ferrite core antenna and smaller size! June 2008 it's to come out (Grundig 750)

  • Sounds like the 750 is out now, with a couple of reviews on eham. Not stellar reviews, but there's only 2.

  • @kaiserblade1 just got it and yes it is alot better

  • How come radio hobbies become exciting to the over 50 age brackett, lol

  • aint you got a 10 kc shift on that thing

  • I can see your reflection! :D

My Eton E1 (aka Satellite 900) has no indent on the tuning knob! :( But it's an excellent machine too.

    Yay shortwave! Boo DRM! ;)

  • Good Radio. I like this one and the Drake SW8. The 3919 Khz crowd can be heard in Haiti

  • just as the Grundig S350 (of which, I'm proud to own

one) is the Queen Mother of the portables, I believe

the Grundig Satellit 800 to be The GANGSTER-GODFATHER

of table models. I like that it picks up 'ham radio'

    conversations...As of this very day (9/8/2007), I

do not own a Grundig Satellit 800...yet!

  • I love the 800! It's already a contentious legend - both hated and adored - and will one day be as collectible as the G.E. Superadio II I would bet. I like the big controls panel and treble/bass. Very rich sound with strong sw signals and FM. As you know mediocre BCB out of the box but with a good antenna it can be a decent AM DXer. The synch detector actually works and is a real friend. Unlike on my icom r75. Would never part with mine.

  • That is a BRUTAL rig! It sounds like you live a bit too close to West Virginia to me though! ; )

    73 de Tom

  • Hey Tom,Thanks,Yeah,it was interesting just to hear the short clips of ongoing conversations wasn't it??

As far as West Virginia,I am no more then a couple hours away from the Panhandle of West Virginia-Almost Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!
