I've been trying for 3 years to learn to use a mouth call, and I've tried every mouth call on the market. I can make the basic "beginner" yelp, but it doesn't sound realistic. I really want to learn this, but after 3 years I'm about ready to throw in the towel. Any ideas?
Yes it is a muscle but even in the medical profession the term air from your diaphragm refers to using the muscle which is your diaphragm to push air out of your lungs. I love the way some people feel the need to prove themselves important.
Please don't ever bend the aluminum frame. The reeds are stretched to a particular tension to help the caller produce certain turkey sounds. Bending the frame changes the tension on the reeds and in doing so, makes the call useless.
While bending the frame does vary the pitch somewhat it does not render the call useless nor does it make it sound bad. We have built thousands of calls. I am sorry but your information is incorrect.
@JKTTV I'm sorry, it doesn't make them useless but less desirable. If a call was intended to be bent then the maker would pre-bend the calls. This is clearly an instructional video which will be viewed by mostly novice mouth callers. Therefore, why had a varible like bending the frames for someone just starting out? Ask any caller at the NWTF Grand Nationals and I bet not a single caller bends their frames. Just saying it's not nessesary, that's all.

I am sorry but fitting the call to ones mouth is VERY important to getting proper tone (as important as reed tension and cut in the call). I have in fact built calls for professional competitive callers and YES many of them DO bend and flex call frames to fit their palettes. Many call makers will tell you the exact same thing. Enjoy the Hunt
Thanks my son is learning for a video he is going in and he wants to do this he is 12 and no other video helped him but this it's a little high in tone but not to bad
Bought one just for fun. Ya get some of the weirdest looks when you're doing it in Walmart. lol, this did help though. I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Haha

You can't take air out of your diaphram. Your diaphram is a muscle that makes you breathe.
