  • Sometimes it is the delivery that counts the most. Don't you get tired of all the negativity and hateful comments? I do not think he was going to report to anyone on his findings. He was just having fun. If you see something he could improve, by all means do a video on your thoughts and show him. If you can comment of improving a part of his device, do so and explain why and how you think it is so. It takes balls to put up a video and then set back and get crucified for having fun. Cheers

  • I think what you did was cool and what a great way to spend a day with one of your mates having fun. Flash steam takes more engineering, more money, but lots of power. I have a great idea on how to do it and keep the installation small cheap but very powerful. If you are interested email me and I will send you the idea.

  • of course it is possible to build some cind of steam cannon.. mythbusters did that.... so you did not proof anything with this video.. you did not make an Archimedes Steam Cannon. the Archimedes Steam Cannon was about flash boiling water in a confined space,

  • @jizburg Lets see you put something together, video it and put it up. Then you won't look like such an idiot.Anytime one takes the time to build something they are interested in, have fun with their friends, plus learn something, the're millions of light years ahead of a babbling arm chair no-it-all. We speculate and postulate until the experimentation is done and then we learn. Since you're clearly smarter than anyone, put your talent where your mouth is, make a video and prove your worth!

  • @badmoonryzn i dont need to. i know it wont work without serious enginering and a shitload of energy... and frankly.. i dont care what you think of me ;P so i can live without your approval ^^ have a nice day.

  • @jizburg Ain't life a bitch! I can't tell ya how much I love to piss on bully's like you. You can't be happy to let someone have their fun without belittling them to bolster your inflated ego. Can't you just be happy that others are happy too regardless what they are doing? The world does not need fun police. Oh yea, this ain't about me, numb nuts, it is about you and your shitty remarks without ever getting off your ass and proving a damn thing other than your ability to flap your gums

  • @badmoonryzn so... if i se something that is incorect.. i should just ignore it because ignorance is bliss?

  • where is Grommit?

  • omg five year old playing with cannon

    xD

    pretty awesome dad

  • I think some of you missed the point while watching myth busters. The myth was busted because Archimedes did not have the materials available to make a steam powered cannon in his time

  • @rbmaserang but you sir, great show! very cool

  • @rbmaserang at least mythbusters introduce a very basic idea, to put claims to the test, in that way they are doing the world a service.

  • This is merely another form of high pressure vessel fitted with a valve of sorts. That you have a vessel building pressure until it's released by either a valve or in this case the planned failure of the solder, its still not not the sort of design they disproved in mythbusters, which was that a cannon could be made that would instantly flash water to high enough pressure steam to launch a projectile.

  • enjoyed the experiment

  • Great stuff!

    Cheers.

  • YUO ARE TO YOUGN TO BE POSTING STUF

  • Not too young, just too full of douchebaggery. I realise that probably isn't a word, but you get the idea.

  • So what? It was just foam! If you use foam than it doesn't matter if you use steam, gunpowder or plain farts!

  • I like this video it prove mith buster's wrong

  • I think you missed the point when you were watching myth busters. They didn't say it was not possible to build a steam powered cannon such as the one in this video, just that it wasn't possible for Archimedes to build one with the materials available to him in his time.

  • There is nothing like a good British comedy :)

  • I think a pressure cannon would be more powerfull, less dangerous to the shooter and easier to shoot and construct

  • solder: it's pronounced "sodder"

  • no it isn't.

  • Only by Americans...

  • ack... this was supposed to be a reply to "solder is pronounced sodder"

  • you should take a little more precautions next time. I know the plug wont melt untill you heat it. But it could have been weak and blown in your face. You also had your balls in the line of fire a couple times. Good video none the less.

I bet alot of force was lost by having a small nozzle on that thing. either increase the nozzle or decreas the dia of the gun barrel.

  • Water boils at 212 at sea level 14.7 ambient.

In the cylinder the water gets above 212 under higher pressure then when the solder melts and the water leaves the cylinder and expands instantaneously to steam 1700 times its liquid size displacing the rocket as predicted by Archimedes.

  • Correction they did, A steel Rod Heated Red hot, As for the Solder it self, thats been around along time, Lead, Silver, pewter or any other base metal with a low metaling point, all of them wher around and used sense the darkages, So yes the myth is quite plossable, Hate to tell you guys this but Myth busters is in no way sciance, they dont use the proper ways to test theorys they usely do one shot tests.

  • well it it din't exactly recreate what is beleived to be known about the myth, it was not flahing to steam, it was just a boiler with automatic valve. I wanted thias myth to be true as well, but this isn't quite it.

  • well at least the mythbusters can spell

  • well ur wrong

  • The myth was busted, guy. People didn't have saldering irons back then.

  • theres still ways to compress it using hydraulic systems and you can easily melt metal with 200 degrees back then

  • Screw thread?

  • Why don't I have neighbours like this? Though I admit it would be quite tense waiting for the possible deadly explosion.

  • next time, just use a mortar, then, now only will something pop out, that something will blow up.

  • poppoppop9 get lost loser

  • Good one, we did something like this but instead of the solder we used a thin aluminium plate between the boiler and the tube. It fired potatoes about 20 metres with quite a bang.

  • very ingenious

  • Thiswas pretty entertaining :)
