@kroqgar78 I checked there, but I eventually figured it out. I used the alternate iso installer. :D Apparently my 2 year old laptop can't handle the graphical installer, but the text-only one worked great! Thank you, though. :)
installing as the only operating system on my backup computer (Pentium D 3GHz, 512MB DDR2 533MHz, 80GB HDD) it goes to the screen where it says 'ubuntu 11.10' with the dots underneath and loops. help?
@1Heretic you need to find out what wireless network adapter you have, download the linux drivers for it on another computer or device, put the driver install package thing on your linux computer, and run/install etc.
Got a major problem it gets stuck with! I followed exactly what you did and it went a smoothly for a while then got stuck 100% on checking the file system... Clicking skip does nothing and terminating the install shows up with success message telling me it worked but I'm not convinced...
i ve downloaded ubuntu, burned on cd,and i ve started setup and it says install demo or full ,and i click that and it computer boots and nothing happens...i ve checked the bios and 1-st is CD...help please?
hi i made my ubuntu disk and tryed installing it on my labtop but it eather chrashs or comes up with an error and i really dont want to download it again wat do u think i should do to fix this problum?
I am new to Ubuntu, running it inside of VMware, when ever I try to install an application, it tells me that it isn't authenticated, what do I need to do to be able to install applications?
@Gdayguy36 I've never used Ubuntu through VMware, but you may try installing application from a terminal if there is any permission problem (which appears to be). Try installing applications using the command -
sudo apt-get install [app_name]
Or you can go to User Management section (Top right - > User Accounts) and change the permission settings as you want.
