I think you are wrong about this being at Massey Hall. This album was recorded with the Hamilton Philharmonic at Hamilton Place. It was a 2 day gig for him and he liked the Orchestra so much he decided to release this as an album. I was there on the second night.
great song - very underrated - I love the bass and this is one of Chuck's best solos on LP - the cello solo is Cathie Lehr - on of the few songs you will hear a cello solo on- I saw basically this same group with a smaller orchestra at Melody Fair in 1974 or 75 - a summer concert place in Western New York
Haven't had too many claims to fame but attended this LIVE performance at Massey Hall, Toronto in 1973. 4 minutes,17 seconds into the song that's my whistle (and a bit at the end).
This is my all time, favourite song . (So Cool by Santana with Rob Thomas #2 )
One last thing. this entire L.P. is very good. But, one tune can not be heard here on youtube, As Long As We're Together. Chuck, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the vocalist, Esther Satterfield, are so very wonderful on that piece. Please put on youtube! Otherwise, thanks for the great music already here.
I could play this over and over and over again. I could never tire of hearing this, especially after not having heard it in so long. Wow! I can't say enough about this composition and excellent performance. Bravisimo!!
Here's another of the excellent cuts from long ago that I miss so much. this is audio gold, no silk,no,....whatever! It is magnifique! And, oh, thanks to David W. Brenman who first played this for me in a dorm room in 1974.
i would love to hear all the songs off of chuck mangione concert album 'Land of make Believe'. If you could please put them up.. if would mean the world to me ... Thank you.. I just love his music
This is the one that started it for me. I love this song. Thank you Mr. Mangione for you brilliance and talent. I have many years of pleasure listening to you and now my son is a follower.
My High School marching band is doing: El Gato Triste, Echano, Land of Make Believe, Feels so Good, and Children of Sanchez for our show this year it's awesome. When My mom and dad record it at the Home Coming game I'll upload it.
My favorite off this album......no ....one of my favorites.

It seems like the last percussion improv is out of character and it messes with the feel a little. I don't like it! Over-all a brilliant song.

upon performing at the Hollywood Bowl, which is where this is recorded, we discovered that you are not allowed to videotape performances there.
