  • The girl is probably a 5.0. Quit it with the troll comments.

  • 3.5 because my mother is 3.0 and she would lose to them. Joking lol. 2.5

  • I think 2.0

  • 2.5-3.0

  • the ntpr scale is tupid. its either beginner, intermidiate, advanced, college level or pro. they are intermidiate

  • @TeppTennis no it's even worse now that they want people to self rate...so many cheaters

  • I've been playing tennis for about 10 years now, and the one thing I don't understand is why there are SO MANY girls with backhands better than their forehands. For one example, I played a 5.5 girl the other day who's forehand I could beat, but who's backhand was a bullet. Is it something about the female physique?

Oh wait... I also don't understand why Roddick uses a backhand slice approach shot against Federer. When'll that guy learn?

  • @maddcow12 roddick question is easier==the textbook shot is the slice as it stays low and they have to hit up. on girls, i think they use their hips better than men, but their forehands are often weaker because physically their arms are weaker. also girls have wider hips than men so that might be something but also men tend to arm things--use their muscles

  • @maddcow12 In addition to what hi10spro said about strength, the forehand benefits differently from wrist action than the backhand. Many players, not just women, have "better" (your word) backhands because they keep it flat and simple and they dont (try) to put topspin on it or swing super hard. Their forehands are the exact opposite--huge hard swings, lots of misc. movement and they try (unsuccessfully) to put as much topspin as possible leaving them with a weaker shot.

  • @neosquid oh goood one... and if the wrist is essential, the wrist is a beneficiary of the forearm...and most...girls... don't have big forearms. so it comes down to strength

  • 2.5

  • 5.0 at least maybe 5.5

  • @HW2800 hahahaha i don't want to play in your league

  • @hi10spro ,

You mean the ATP tour? Why not? It open to all and it a fun bunch of guys! They will not give you a point that you do not earn. The more the merrier! Come and join us - guys like Rafael, Novak and Roger.

  • @HW2800 AHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @HW2800 LOL

  • What a joke! If you're 6'10 you're automatically a 7.0! You'd serve like Ivo Karlovic.

  • @thisislaser hmmm that could be valid although I've played tall guys with serves and nothing else. BUT what has Ivo won. kay i checked 7 titles...one was Queens

  • @thisislaser im 6ft6 what does that make me

  • @KN10SKILLED you're really tall... but you must have a BIG serve so that makes you at least 4.0

  • @hi10spro im nationally ranked in uk , i would be at least a 6.0 or 6.5 im a 3.2 in lta which is equivalent to a 6.0 or 6.5

  • @KN10SKILLED oh for sure dude, you're legit

  • @hi10spro if you ever are in England we could play maybe winner buys the beer?

  • @KN10SKILLED aw i'm bummed, i was in scotland in dundee in sept...but for sure, but it's cold there...

  • @hi10spro dundee is horrible , scotland is too cold england is not much better though

  • @KN10SKILLED they told me it was summer... FREEZING!!!!!!!!!! terrible...i don't know how murray came up there...

  • The girl has a higher rating than the guy. She is a high 3.5 and the guy is a low to mid 3.5. Watch how she strokes the ball when the guys comes to the net. That is not a 3.0 female player.

  • @archibot in doubles the guy on the other side is awesome, great lob, great attacks, real consistent, and he's 58

  • ... I have to say I would rate her a 3.5 at most and the guy... a 3.0 honestly. I hit with a few women who would probably be rated 4.5 in my area and I don't see this woman taking more than a game. As for the guy...I really don't find him better than her, and generally a guy will be ranked .5 lower at the same ability. I could see the guys that I can beat 1 and 0 beating him probably 2 and 1.

  • I find it odd that most everyone thinks this guys NTRP is higher than the lady's. Her ground strokes appear to be more sound than his and they appear to be hitting with similar pace from the baseline. His volleys are terrible even though she's putting the ball at mid-chest with very good pace. His overheads are not much better. I play in the very competive LCTA in the "Best Tennis Town in America" (Charleston SC) where he'd be at best a mid to low level 3.0 but she could compete at 3.5.

  • LOL is she grunting

  • With the way ratings are deflated right now id say the girl is 2.5 and the guy is 3.0

I'm not saying that to be mean, im saying that so they can be competitive. Right now in HTL im playing N3 (NTRP 2.5) and i've been carrying my partner. By the way some of these people are over-rating, i'd should be a 5.0+ open player, lol.

I dont dump (intentionally lose), but I do "take it easy" so I dont hurt anyone . I've beaned people with big serves into the body in the past.

  • @neosquid HTL--you know i was a C-league, B-league, and A-league representative, and played in those leagues...when I finally made A-league, took 9 years (played since h.s.), there were several...SEVERAL people who were still in c league 9 years later. use the leagues to improve, don't camp out--but if you know you have family/work and are seasonal...it's okay to be a big fish in a SMALL pond

  • @neosquid There's no way the girl is only a 2.5, if she played there she would win nationals. The top players in each division are allways playing a half level down but why would you want to be a bully and cheat your way to victory? I mean you can't really improve unless you play people who are at least your level or better, I'm a 4.0 and win about half my usta matches, That's where I know I belong. So play up and you'll improve

  • @alloneword154 HEAR HEAR!! i hate guys that stay down forever...but to be fair, the guys i know that are 3.0...don't have any time to practice, can't get better... you can't get better unless you play minimum 3 times a week for 2 hours a pop. end of story. there are no shortcuts to 4.5

  • From what I see, the girl is high 3.0 and the guy is low 3.5.

  • 1.0

  • easily 6.5+

  • You know, I was hoping that by watching these people play I could sort of establish what level I play at, but the responses vary from "2.5 at most" to "strong 3.5," so unfortunately, this does not help at all. Either the rating system is pretty vague, or people don't really know how to distinguish between them. Or both.

  • @12OclockLow 1) The Internet makes people say mean things. 2) The rating system is vague and varies state to state. The girl should be solid 4.0 in Hawaii. The guy is hard to rate because he hits a bit unorthodox but in matchplay, he's a STUD--very consistent, doesn't miss often--i would make him low 4.5 or high 5.0--he is 56 or so so that's a consideration also

  • @hi10spro Ok i am a teaching pro and can help you out... your ground strokes are around 3.5 possible 4.0 based on one area in particular, you have the ability to hit the ball crosscourt consistantly. Now how you play in a match i dont know... but thats the level you hit at.

  • @joemcc84 oh homes. i'm not in the video

  • 2.5 - 3.0. Since people usually like to play in a lower level in tournament to get more win. I'll say 2.5.

  • she needs to use her whole body, not just her arms.

  • somewhere between 2.5 ~ 3.0 and no more?

  • 0.1

  • @r0baa AHAHHAHAHA kay cool

  • Based on the ground strokes (w/out serve), they are both strong 3.5 players.

  • @casinowiz007 thats what i was thinking. i mean at some shots the girl swing looks pretty bad when its up high on her. but if you can take a ground stroke and smoke the ball clean over the net with some good top spin at a good pace consistently then you're at least 3.0-3.5. 2.0 players don't hit like that they just focus on getting it over the net and in play.

  • @blues3531 nah she's pretty solid so is the guy--the girl can take a pretty high level of power on the serve and get it back solid, she gets a lot of balls back in play--she's kind of defensive when she plays, but at least 4.0. the dude is 56 or so and he's solid...he gets tons of balls back in play and gets you to beat him easy 4.5

  • @hi10spro I guess but my point still stands that 2.0 and 2.5 players don't generally put that amount of power and spin into a ground stroke consistently. they just kinda hit it over the net and in play and let gravity bring it down. looking at 1:03 and 1:05.........2.0 players can't do that.

  • @blues3531 From what i see , the girl is high 3.0 and the guy law 3.5.

  • no splitstep.......

  • hittting like 3.5's question is if you play the same way in a match. a lot players hit well in practice but when point starts they play different. not being negative just being realistic.

  • @gabe9873 DUDE--I actually think she's better in matches than practices--she's solid--she got a great return and a high tolerance for power--I've slammed balls at her and she can LOB it back. Can you imagine? That's the perfect partner, i'm at net, she's lobbing the hell out of the ball. Plus she can put balls away

  • really rare :O Her backhand is better than her forehand

  • Oh come on, those lobs cannot land in: that is impossible!

  • pretty good for a hit and giggle session. she could win at 3.5 and with proper training 4.0. The depth she keeps on her 2hbh would give me trouble.

  • @faultyservice you know she's very, very deceptive because I've played her--she has an okay power level, BUT she can handle a lot of power at her. she's much more vulnerable to soft shots away from her than power shots at her.

  • 3.5

  • 2's

  • I would say 3's, I'm sure she can hang with 4.0's but I don't really think she'll beat any 4.0's out there. So I'm just reducing her down to the 3's.

  • she's like a 2.0 2.5 at most, u are prob a 3.5 at most

  • HAHAHAHAHA i'll take that

  • ntrp is not only how you hit. it's how you play...

  • solid 3.0 in Florida, but can be a 3.5 in most other states

  • i give here a 3, she really isn't controlling the ball, kinda just trying to make contact.

  • eh i'd maybe give her a 3.5-4.0, when she started hittin, havent seen her serve and stuff tho and match play skills. ect. Here footwork was iffy.. maybe just cause warming up tho'

  • NTRP 1.0

  • I would guess she is 2.5. Once I thought I was 3.5 based on the self rating chart from the USTA website. I joined USTA 3.5 league and lost most of the matches. hehe...

Now I am between 3.5 and 4.0. True rating can be measured by outcome of the matches.

  • yeah. it really matters where you are...she's actually probably 4.0 ish in Hawaii...or 3.5 take that back...

  • Ok, I watched the clip again. I will give her 3.0.

One can argue for 3.5 but 4.0? Come on...

  • HAHAHA but i've played her... she can return serve okay, has a solid backhand, and is pretty consistent--she can get a lot pace/spin back that normal 3.5's can't. her serve is so so though... but she's a girl... :P AHHAHA

  • @hi10spro Definitely not a 4.0 .. she's about a 3.5 in this warm-up video. Although it's really hard to tell `til we see her play a match. People tend to show their true game once they start keeping score.

  • Looks like 3.0, that lady has no spin whasoever.

  • most girls dont...

  • self rating ntrp is a joke. ntrp is measured by what you are able to do consistently while under pressure.

  • pretty smart though, self rating--it's the law of averages. it's like a golf handicap, given enough time, it puts people in the right places--assuming you got guys who are not losing on purpose. back home, i got friends who played high school varsity and chose to be 3.0 BECAUSE they can win there and not practice

  • :D wow my friend gave me a score of 2.0 and I play somewhat like you guys. And people are giving you guys 3.5s. ROFL.

Well I was curious on how you guys were playing :]

    Teehee then I'm about 4.0-4.5 :D

lol no offense I play a bit better than you.

Was just curious on what people would say for you guys ._.

  • homes... these are my friends. i'm not in this video :D

  • oh their pretty good :D

    hehe XD

is there a video with you in it?

  • hehehe I got a few. click my channel and take your pick

  • sigh...i would be happy to be 4.0 :D i just want to play leagues you know, but I'm not in the US right now so it doesn't matter. here tournaments are all by age. there are no ntrps

  • Lol yeah I know. gahh the tourneys are harder than I thought. So much people with more experience than me play .. dam. haha .. hate that.

  • 2.0 rating without seeing serving.

    2.0 if serve matches groundies.

2.5-3.5 if serves are really good with placement and pace at 65+mph.

  • 2.0? AHAHAHHAHAHAHAH dude. what state are you in? either you guys are the biggest sand baggers ever. or you never ever see Nationals.

  • Well, you asked the question and your get various answers. Why put up a question that you already know?

I'm in the West LA Area.

Sure, ntrp is a local computer based on wins.

But, I totally think that your 5.0 Hawaii Vs. 5.0 LA would get killed in matches.

  • nah. I'm was on Hawaii 5.0--the guys at Nationals are like 5.5 Open... but our 4.5 guys are UNREAL--ex college guys in their prime... we won Nationals in 2005--Maui...and that team was ridiculous. guys that were on my 5.0 team were on that 4.5 team... wtf

  • 3.5 looks abt right.

  • the girl is pretty good. she handles power pretty well. moves pretty well, can volley, has a forehand and backhand, and a serve. if she's 3.5 then, she's my mixed partner and i'll play anyone in the nation 8.0

  • oh the reason I said that is when i played 9.0 Nationals--we were 3-1? and 8.0 Nationals my partner and I were 3-0... our team came in third. 1991 LA... you can probably look it up if you want to :D that's 8.0 Nationals Mixed; Hawaii

  • hmm looks like atleast high 6.5 - 7.0 :)

  • ur kiddin right?

  • looks like about 4.0 to me....

  • they kind of look bad in the warm up, but go to the match and watch. not bad in the match

  • I'm going by east coast ratings:

    She's a women's 3.5 and he's a men's 3.5

  • east coast is tough. people are intense when they play there

  • i really think it varies from state to state. is it cold in Minnesota?

  • whoa what state are you in?

  • wats NTRP?

  • national tennis rating program, it's in the USA. you give a player a number--it starts with 2.5 and goes up by .5 up to 7.0 (Agassi)

  • oo i c so how is it rated?

  • 2.5 is the lowest, 7.0 is the highest. you go up by .5. I'm supposed to be a 5.0. so 2.5 you got a forehand and a serve. 3.0 you kind of have strokes. 3.5 you got strokes, but you can't attack. 4.0 you can attack but you have a weakness. 4.5 you can attack and have weapons and small weaknesses 5.0..well me.

  • ooo i c that helps alot!! lol thxx

  • what state are you from?

  • I live in Chicago, Illinois just started Tennis last June i think, been playing almost every single day, not including the winter tho, my legs hurtt alot but o welll its fun, and ive been improving quick, just beat 2 random ppl in da park yesterday =D dey werent tat bad tho

  • CHICAGO! Sweet. so what do you do in the winter? are there like free indoor courts? or is it all memberships?

  • lol i couldnt play in the winter because my parents said it was too expensive to join a club =( so i played till bout november even tho it was cold outside, and then started again about march or april. O and there arent free indoor courts lol i have 2 go 2 the tennis courts at the park kinda close to my house

  • 3.0 or low 3.5. for the girl in orange.

  • she played kind of bad in this one, she's a lot better in the next video I'm putting up

  • 3.0

looks like the backhand is starting to develop, awkard form, but looks like its working. But what do i know, im only a junior player

  • OH now i get it... i thought this was the match. she looks junk but when she plays, she doesn't miss much, backhand is solid, moves well, and has a pretty good volley and overhead

  • thats why. K, also why is 2.5 worst, i thought 1.0 was worst? also, i hate watching these kinds of videos because the balls always move so slow, but than in matches, the person looks like beast.

  • 1.0 is the worst, but they don't give that rating. although I have met a 2.0. but there's no league for them

  • looks like 3.5 to me :]

  • If that's 3.5, I am taking the title from Federer's hands at Flushing Meadows.

  • don't be hard on zootyler...he's cool. and he's joking. he wanted me to coach him...then, he realized i'm not in Hawaii anymore... BUT zoo is going to the school where my brother went to

  • How does NTRP work in America? In the UK our ranking system goes from 10 being the worst and 1.0 being the best.

  • 2.5 is the worst and 7.0 is the best. i would rate the guy at net a 4.5 while the girl would be close to 5.0 (with sexes, the girls ratings are like .5 behind the men or ahead. if the girl is the same as a 4.0 guy, she's a 4.5) I'm supposed to be a 5.0 based on my wins/losses over the years, but I think I'm more of a 4.5 now. our system is self rate--like golf. it kind of corrects itself over time as your rating is affected by win/loss. uk is that the ITF system?

  • is that other person your wife?

  • dude. i'm a tennis player. you can't marry another tennis player...when will you ever have time away from your wife? what does love means to a tennis player (nothing)... so no, she's not my wife and ironically, i'm very protective of pictures of her so she's hardly on my internet stuff. are you married to a tennis player? if you are, sorry dude...

  • 8.5

  • um..what system is that?

  • The guy's around a 3.0-3.5, but the girl hits a little too flat to be anything above a 2.5.

That's just my evaluation based on the NTRP website guide (since its self rated). Its hard to tell without seeing serves, offensive volleys, or point play.

  • true that, the guy LOOKS REALLY CRAPPY IN THE WARM UP...but he's pretty damn consistent in the points...check the doubles match after

  • 3.5 or 4.0

  • check the doubles matches I have up with her and him in it... then tell me again :D

  • He's about a 4.5 and she is either a 4.0 or 4.5
