This is excellent! I love your playing. I must say though that I don't like the studio reverb chosen for this video...i think i a little more subtle one would be nice..
He just understands the melodic lines in the fugal part greatly, and makes the independent voices of bach's polyphonic technice flower, excellent interpentation!
It is a good tempo, for those complaining that it's not "presto" remember that presto in the 18th century cant be compared to presto from the 19th and 20th centuries, you need to consider the poliphony to be clear. Then again, it's a good tempo.
Every Classical piece I view just amazes me, but they always has these stupid snobs nit picking little things just to make themselves feel important... "The Presto... blah blah... "... I feel very certain these "critics" would have a tough time playing ANYTING on the guitar. So.... if you have nothing nice to say... SHHHH!
I have a really hard time with the tecnique in the presto, especially combining the rythm figure for the right hand, playing sixteenths with the thumb and eights with the index finger, anyone got a tip for practising?feels lke no matter how long or hard i try it seems impossible to get the necessery flow.
@CLASSICBOB4200 Yes the manuscript says "Presto" but what are you going by to claim "that was so not Presto"??! A Metronome click?? from an almost loose free form to something SUDDEN and QUICK? Yes it did, and it does so almost on it's own given the form of the piece. And yes, the section in question IS played "Presto." Especially in Bach's era these markings were for feel and mood NOT how many clicks you can put in a measure.
Did the section marked "Presto" come up quickly, suddenly or in a somewhat hastily felt manner? Did it prick up your ears as it suddenly moved into the new section? Yes it did and it was indeed Presto. Start thinking of Allegro, Presto etc. as adverbs or adjectives and you will play better. Try taking your metronome to a Fisk or Isbin recording of this piece and it is not even close to being "Presto' either if all you define Presto by is a click.
I've heard the Prelude played out of rythm so many times that I'm afraid of listening this piece again. But you did it exactly right. Congratulations!
The first prelude part can be played in various ways and not only one. It comes natural to be "out of tempo" in order to be more expressive and artistic if you want.
Very nice piece. Well done. Would anyone be able to show me where I could purchase the sheet music so that I can play this for PIANO. I dont play guitar so that tableture does not help me much. Thank you.
Cher père Noël, merci d'être descendu par la cheminée pour nous jouer cette très belle pièce ! Dommage que les rennes n'étaient pas là pour faire les choeurs...
where do u keep him? is he behind you? give us jsbach back! supermonster performance... magnificent rendition...in your hands that guitar resembles a clavichord...thank you
I simply love when presto it's played leaving you with the impression that there has to be more than one guitar involved. Great sound, perfect tempo and the impression of 2 guitars - thanks! Sometimes, I feel such a deep pity for those who never understood Bach - such a loss! Like someone took away the cake from you and left you only with plain bread.
Let me just add that I listen and try to play Bach quite a lot but still amazed how I can't grasp his pieces entirely... There is always some hidden detail, a camouflaged cadence, an undercurrent sequence, an implied accent, a deeply veiled thought that I find almost every time. I don't think I'll ever understand his genius completely.
That was really good except the passagio section should really be played at a slower tempo than the preso section. You played them both at pretty much the same tempo. Aside from that, it was amazing.
Amazing job, by the way you got an honorable mention in guitar idol, congrats! I voted with 3 different email adresses but it didnt seem to change much.

As a violinist I get really inspired by Bach's guitar pieces - they are the basis for the violin partitas after all. This is surely a fine rendering.
