  • My parents had a Volvo just like this one along with the Ford Explorer shown in the vid. We would drive the Volvo from Victoria, BC to Michigan/Ontario. Good times

  • wagons forever!!!!

  • always thought the american volvos looked ugly, but so did the american mercs with the park benches attatched at both ends. ive got a -83 240 Diesel Mercedes best car ever built!

  • I feel for you. I just dropped my 93 off for new tires after almost 300,000 miles. This is only the third set of tires. I hope you get another one soon. There is no other car like this car.

  • My 1980 wagon has been in my life for 25 years (since I was 4), and I inherited it 10 years ago from my mother. To this day, it is my daily driver. I have seen it drive with damage no car should endure, and it has outlasted every family member, friend and life situation I have encountered to this day. It is the same color as the wagon in this video, and it is still gorgeous--I have had many offers from admirers. The love you will feel for these cars is like none other. My sympathies...

  • My dad loved his 1992 volvo 940 turbo diesel intercooler. He was driveing home one day and the cam shaft broke on it. To this day he wished he kept it but parts were to dear for it. The car had done 222 thousend miles she was still going strong lovely and comfortable these cars are and made to last

  • '80s light and '70s bumper isn't it ?? but cool!!

    I love old bolvo!!

  • Cool video matey. These cars had soul - I wonder if we'll look back at modern cars in 30 years time and feel as nostalgic about them. I doubt it somehow...

  • :( I had an 86 blue 240 wagon, sim color, I LOVED that car! I have a Matrix now and still go through Craigslist looking for the 240, bec it was the best!!

  • Volvo 200-Series ,

Is My Favourite Volvo , Ever ...

Although I'm Toyota Supporter Now , But I Won't Quit From A Fans Or Volvo ...

  • I Love This!

  • Great video for a great car!

  • Aww man nice tribute! I have an 82 same model that I bought for $650 and it's in great condition. All it needed was an oil change. Lot's of room and it's nice to travel with. I love it so much!

  • that was awesome!!

  • What happened to her? Bette Davis sings this song with more warm.

  • very sad. what happened to it?

  • got myself an 88, and it was the best thing i have ever done, she has 250,000 on her, she's still young. I can see myself with that car for well over 10 years with proper care. I have camping trips planned. The folded down back is my tent with a twin mattress that fits perfectly. It's a hippy camper, that kicks ass on the road and rides like a benz, and cheap to fix, safe, solid, heavy, and good on gas, now this is how a car should be made.

  • my aunt had a '91 240 wagon,but i dont remember much of it

  • Why does no-one make cars with heart and soul anymore? The 240 is a motoring legend.

  • thats the same question that i often think about !

  • hahaha here in sweden they're used for doing donuts in parking places and skidding on frozen lakes :)

  • dude,

I drove a 250 dollar 1979 brown wagaon from Canada to Halfway down Mexico, sold it for 3000 pesos!!!! Im so in love! Im volvo for life now.

Im back in New Zealand now and have bought a bright orange 1973 Volvo 164 and a little caravan. Its an amazing lifestyle with a volvo. wish more people drove them,

you learn to love and respect!!

    Peace

  • I know ... how you feel...

I think that that is car with soul... mine family had one... for 11 years ... he had never give up on us.. now when I am writing this .. I see that hometoker420 knows what I am talking about... I know only one thing... now when/if I get job I am buying one... I can't wait that moment...

My friends tell me that I am crazy ...

once me and my father whent on a trip in other town .. and guess what I saw... our VOLVO...

    VOLVO FOR LIFE!!

  • I have a 81 245 at 175k miles. I fixed everything from the front to the back and from the ground up.

  • I grew up driving Volvoes, or rather; the grownups in my family drove them. Wonderful cars, so i feel for you.

  • Had to pull/coast over tonight to jiggle my ignition controller to get the 87 240 wagon rolling again but I did get home.

  • my dads makin me get one if these. im so glad. i want a wagon. they are total beasts. great car. they deserve mroe credit than they get.

  • You have my deepest sympathy -is that the Gorge?

  • I hate this my every one in my town was jelouse my car it was so beutifull the most amazing volvo 240 ever i mean ever now its dead, the fucking motor wont even start.

  • The other day i was going to pick up my little sister and this old laddy in a toyota coralla we had a front end collision destroyed the front in a way that caused the steel to bend and no longer allow the head lights to fit back into the car casued the hood to bend up you cant even see that a the turn singal housing could ever hold a turn single again riped my whole bumper off. The beautifull VOLVO 245 WAGON RUST FREE FROM CALIFORNIA IS DEAD UNLESS I COME UP WITH THOUSAND OF DOLLARS TO FIX IT.

  • Anyone who hasn't owned a 240 or 242 shouldn't be able to say these things don't have soul. Dude, we've had one in my family for 20 years (my cousin Selena currently owns it) and it's been through Jeremy and Gregory Scarset, my two cousins, and they beat that thing to hell, came home, pounded out the dents, and sold it to the girl cousin. Our lips are sealed until something bad breaks O_o

  • Konnitiwa!245!Very Nice!

  • My first Volvo was an '82 242. I had no idea how to work on cars, but that was about to change. Over the next two years, I learned the 240s inside and out. I can do anything to them but rebuild a transmission. I sold my 242 to some dirty here in town and a year later I got to see her again.. Trashed, full of porn magazines, and ready to be sent to the crusher. It was sad indeed. Here it is, 2008 and I just bought another '92 245. One of the best cars of all time.

  • How many miles on the old gal?

  • I noticed Lil' Jon's restaurant in the background of some of those pics!! Yay for Volvo wagons and Lil' Jon's!

  • What a good old friend, I had a volvo wagon I bought for $125 served me well, then sold it for $200 for parts. RIP old girl.

  • I picked up a priest from Downtown Philadelphia he rode in the back seat of my volvo and we visited the Salvage yard and he he sent all the volvos to be with god.

  • I have found my true passion is working on Volvo I have a 1989 volvo 240 DL wagon I have salvged all my moldings and little things for under 100$ that the dealer wanted to charge me 1,000$ for I even got a third seat for 40$. I have changed my Volvo to look like its brandnew But I found a grave yard for early 1980's Volvos Its a holy ground though

  • I had an 84 245 GL that I bought for 350 bucks, it was beat to hell and had been in a front clip destroying accident, so I fixed him up good, couldnt even tell that it had been in an accident, and it left me with over 320k miles on it running strong.

  • I hope god be whit the beautiful volvo;) i´t was the most beautiful video i ever seen ;) i got a volvo 245 - 76 :( i miss he :/ if you search on volvoraggarna you see him :) it black and yelloe tape on he :/ R.I.P.

  • cool video, i got a 88, 240 GL, black, auto no turbo :(. it has 230,000 mile but it stoped rolling summer of 05 so im guessing it is around 233,500. and it still runs great with no rust. 0 to 60 in 13 seconds

  • It'll go for another 20,000 brother, just make sure you keep on tuning it up and changing the oil, and letting it drink a little Premium now and again. And Castrol GTX I have found, really gives those old 4-bangers a little extra whizz.

  • Beautiful vid. What happened to the poor old girl?

  • Blew a rod while driving to Seattle :(

  • oh the memories :)

  • my volvo is stil running it hit the 200,000 mark but now my fuel pump stays on and drains the battery going to still drive it intill in shits out

  • beutiful, still driving my '85, but its kind of beat up from being past down the family and 250,000 miles lots of fixes but still a tank never the less- nicknamed 'El Crapo' by my second GF for all the body noises it makes and such... don't no how much longer it will last but i plan on piking up a S70 when it finaly hits the dirt

  • I am a proud owner of a MINT 1989 Volvo 240 DL with 153,000 on it got I love it I feel your pain I dont know what I will do one day when its out of my life

  • got mt first volvo a month ago, volvo 244 DL -75..to bad that it drinks to much tho..

  • hahah we both got rid of a 1892 volvo 240 mine lasted 1 month longer... God damn we drive tanks!!!

  • sad i know i own a 86 240 Dl wagon silver i call him SNOOD he has 199 thousand milles still running strong all i had to fix is put a new alternater on and a front windshield whiper motor long live the volvo 240 wagon

  • SNOOF.... dudes. I sincerely feel your pain. I had a 1990 240 DL Wagon, Gracie, whom I LOVED. I sold her to friends of the family here in Florida... said I wanted first right of refusal when they sold her and they effed up. Sold her to someone who I don't know! Gggrrr... anyway... she had only 128,000 miles... ran like a TOP. A lot of good memories driving to Nantucket and back in ol' Gracie.. I wonder where she is now... sniff...

    Nice tribute though....

  • I can imagine your sadness! I have a 240 DL 88 myself and after 209K miles, still running strong,by far the best car for the buck! Good on mileage too! What year was yours? 84? What happened to the car?
