BTW,this was right around the time when we had the huge savings and loan scandals in this country. Billions of dollars went missing and no one seems to know where it went. It's not about age, it's about the intellectual merit of the content of his speeches. As of now, while I've heard hum make brilliant talking points in his public appearances, it's somewhat shallow and rather retetive in points made. This is the only piece of evidence I've seen where he actually discusses the monetary policy behind having an objective standard of value, (i.e. precious medals), and the morality behind capitalism itself.

The rights of blacks to vote were never "up for renewal" as you claim.

Ron Paul voted no for the renewal of the Voting Rights Act in 2006 because of the federal madates that are imposed on the states from the federal level in regards to how state elections have to be run.

No states were ever considering taking the voting rights away from blacks and it certainly wasn't up for vote in the House.
