thats not the wastegate thats the turbo barking. Its not a good thing. Try pushing forward on the shifter at the end of the pull before letting off, then let off. this will put the truck into nuetral and allow the motor to freely slow down eliminating turbo bark.
Thats the waste gate poppin open, Your bro might wanna look into a bigger waste gate, or a PPE boast valve. I may be wrong but it sounded like it was still set at factory specs, which would be around 22-25 PSI, that charger is good for at least 35, which would have got him out closer to 300, rather than poppin off as soon as the sled loaded up on him.
@carpenca the stock wastegate on a lb7 opens at around 18-20psi with the boost valve it keeps it open to about 25-26psi those IHI turbos are only safe up to 30psi after that you risk blowing up your turbo

When it's spolled that high and u let off the throtle it's not gonna pull air in the intake and it has all that boost so it blows off dumbass

@chuckupchuck17 Blow off valve. opens up to let extra boost come out so it doesnt go back into the turbo and grenade it.

also he would have done better but it popped out of third gear and went into drive and you can tell by watching it that it lost a lot of momentum
