i think the point is that it is cheesy. antithesis is essential to true artistic genius. genesis is a fucking g. a fucking brilliant man. i don't idealize him, i just think he is capable of incredible conceptualization. in which case, when i saw this, i was not shocked what-so-ever. psychic tv's music is often filled with a lot of traditionally western pop melodic structures. so what? he gets it. he fucks with it. he takes what you think is perfectly nice and clean and extorts it.
but I'm sorry this is embarrassing and unnecessary - song and video. Why do a note-for-note remake with a bit of spoken word and noise at the end? How can or why would you want to try to duplicate the textures in Brian Wilson's original? And the mugging, cliched, obvious video? Why?

The perfect duplication of the classic song certainly speaks to the talent of the young musicians Gen surrounded himself with back then (where are they all now?). Although I like the song this cover/video is a little cheesy coming from the former Coum/TG front man.
