Honestly, I like DMC1 more then the others. In DMC4, the demons DO NOT put up a fight like they do in the first. I highly recommend DMC1 to everybody. Well thought out, amazing designs, and great creativity.
@xXxja196xXx DMC 2 is considered a complete failure by most fans, but I haven't played it myself, so I don't really know. I haven't played the original either, for that matter.
As for DMC 3, it's got its pros and cons. I personally prefer DMC 4 because I love playing as Nero, but apart from that DMC 3 is mostly better than 4, yes. Better atmosphere, unlockable costumes, more styles for Dante,... And let's not forget: a (very basic) form of multiplayer. :D

You can feel the force and heaviness behind them..I love that game,best atmosphere/Dante character.In one point of the game things literally became dark and nightmarish.DMC3 was my second favorite,so yeah I'm DMC1&3 fan,4 was not half bad...

@TheCincala For me, it has this nostalgic touch to it that makes me want to play it every once in a while. Objectively though, dmc3 is far superior. It's faster, bigger, has a better story, more weapons, moves and style. The only thing that kind of bugged me in dmc3 was that the demon-form was not very strong, it was just faster and you regenerated health. With dmc1, it felt really powerful.

I'd advise you buy it as soon as possible and while your at it pick up devil may cry 3: special edition (the special edition is easier and also lets you play as the games antagonist vergil, dantes identical twin brother) The best game in the series and the best action game on the planet.

DMC1 is the hardest out of the lot, it has the best and most challenging bosses, DMC2 doesnt exist, DMC3 is combo crazy and DMC4 is looking back at DMC1 in terms of enemy and level design but the gameplay is really satisfying if u mastered the crap out of it.

DMC 1's bosses are hard to kill, and they don't have a special pattern of attacks like in 3 and 4, making it hard to be stylish. So, all you can do in dmc, is just attack, dodge, run to boss and repeat process. Whereas dmc 3 and 4, you start to have more options of attacking, and countering. That weapon that dante was using in this video reminded me of Beowulf and Gilgamesh from 3 and 4. Too bad they didn't add Real Impact's high dmg in dmc 1. That would own.
Oh, and about the boss fight itself, where the developers high when they decided Sargossos would be in Dante's darkest nightmare??? The cat or lizards I can understand, but not giant skulls.
Isn't DMD in DMC3 one hit one kill? That'd make it theoretically 3x as difficult as DMC1, am I right?
I will agree that DMC1 has a cooler Dante, and cooler enemies, that much is certian, imo. Especially with the cat, the puppets, and the lizards.
But DMC3's average boss is cooler than DMC1's, and DMC3 also has more bosses. And while DMC3 is "more stylish", it could also be said that DMC1 is just more limiting.
But for their time, I would put 1 ahead of 3, though I still like 3 more.
Though I'd put Spidey 1 for the PSX above Spider-Man 2: the movie, regardless of taking console limitations into account, but that is a whole other story. :P
nah don't let this guy fool you, DMD is pretty dam hard, i can tell hes played for quite a bit and went through lots of trial and error. The boss in this vid along with 3rd vergil took me so long to beat but this guy took them out like nothing. but ya, if you get hit its pretty much over anyway, think its like 3 hits and dead
Depends if you are looking for a great combat system that has to do with style or if your looking for a Resident Evil feel where you always have to be on your toes because the enemy takes away a ton of life I like DMC1 better because I have to be ready at all times. On DMC3 I just kick back and throw some random combos together and the enemies are gone.
DMC 3 is diffrent then DMC1 it was meant to be along the lines of a survival horror. Except well that you where a devil but the game made you feel human cause a hit took a large amount of your life bar.DMC2 and 3 went ahead and left that feel and then focused on style.I like DMC3 and all but the first game had a better story had style and didn't let you feel invincble in DMC3 and 4 I know for a fact that on DMD I am not going to die at all but then DMC1 kicks my ass.

Each enemy brought a warped action to the game that really tested you, pushed your buttons to a sense of "alarm" where any hit would ruin ur rank, combo, or just simply kill you. @megadomonic I think it is. That's probably not because of the moves or the gameplay, but because of the game design. You can literally kill *anything* by just shooting at it a little with your guns. That's what ruined the most fun for me. Other than that, it's OK, but nothing more.
that was amazing, i haven't played this game in years. I remember when I went to buy my first ps2 way back not too long after it was first released, it was budled with DMC and I played this game only for 5 months straight, ahaahah and never played it after that. Did play DMC2,3 and 4 but i HAVE to say hands down DMC1 is by far the best DMC ever, i can possibly call it the best gothic action game ever made.

DMC 1's bosses are hard to kill, and they don't have a special pattern of attacks like in 3 and 4, making it hard to be stylish. So, all you can do in dmc, is just attack, dodge, run to boss and repeat process. Whereas dmc 3 and 4, you start to have more options of attacking, and countering. That weapon that dante was using in this video reminded me of Beowulf and Gilgamesh from 3 and 4. Too bad they didn't add Real Impact's high dmg in dmc 1. That would own.

Isn't DMD in DMC3 one hit one kill? That'd make it theoretically 3x as difficult as DMC1, am I right?
I will agree that DMC1 has a cooler Dante, and cooler enemies, that much is certian, imo. Especially with the cat, the puppets, and the lizards.
But DMC3's average boss is cooler than DMC1's, and DMC3 also has more bosses. And while DMC3 is "more stylish", it could also be said that DMC1 is just more limiting.
But for their time, I would put 1 ahead of 3, though I still like 3 more.

nah don't let this guy fool you, DMD is pretty dam hard, i can tell hes played for quite a bit and went through lots of trial and error. The boss in this vid along with 3rd vergil took me so long to beat but this guy took them out like nothing. but ya, if you get hit its pretty much over anyway, think its like 3 hits and dead

Depends if you are looking for a great combat system that has to do with style or if your looking for a Resident Evil feel where you always have to be on your toes because the enemy takes away a ton of life I like DMC1 better because I have to be ready at all times. On DMC3 I just kick back and throw some random combos together and the enemies are gone.

DMC 3 is diffrent then DMC1 it was meant to be along the lines of a survival horror. Except well that you where a devil but the game made you feel human cause a hit took a large amount of your life bar.DMC2 and 3 went ahead and left that feel and then focused on style.I like DMC3 and all but the first game had a better story had style and didn't let you feel invincble in DMC3 and 4 I know for a fact that on DMD I am not going to die at all but then DMC1 kicks my ass.

@megadomonic I think it is. That's probably not because of the moves or the gameplay, but because of the game design. You can literally kill *anything* by just shooting at it a little with your guns. That's what ruined the most fun for me. Other than that, it's OK, but nothing more.

that was amazing, i haven't played this game in years. I remember when I went to buy my first ps2 way back not too long after it was first released, it was budled with DMC and I played this game only for 5 months straight, ahaahah and never played it after that. Did play DMC2,3 and 4 but i HAVE to say hands down DMC1 is by far the best DMC ever, i can possibly call it the best gothic action game ever made.
