@lvboats ---I do not think they ever went into full-production. I find this rather sad because I had tremendous luck with the unit. Others, however, did not like it so much and it had issue of falling, not working on some cars etc.
Now they sell a "super-cup mount"... way different, but many people are having success with those. I have not tried one, nor do I plan on it.
Wish I had one of those before my passport fell from the windshield and cracked the plastic cover off.

i just bought the single cup mount, the mounts in this video and the mount the 8500x50 come with are junk....

I just bought a new ix and it came with the older type....oh well.

I think the suction cups are different they don't hold well in the cold as the older ones. I have just noticed this in the past month.
