The narrative style of the film and the camera shots show you that the film was made for entertainment value rather than for documentary purposes. It's extremely cruel and simple-minded by today's standards, but it's interesting to see how this would have been perceived 60-70 years ago. India was greatly romanticised by the British and films such as this one would have been astonishing to watch.
