I made it to the Destrau...how ever you spell it but I didn't tour it ...it was too early that day. Next time.

  • love the video i was in louisiana many times but never got to tour a plantation it is on my to do list.

  • I feel the presence of my ancestors as I watch this, it inspires me so

  • MustHaveKandy I believe that actually was the house used in Gone with the Wind, the Oak Alley plantation, it is gorgeous!!! I saw the house up close, in person!!! Wowww!!! That's all I have to say!!!

  • @dreamofgenie55 I'm sorry, but,Oak Alley plantation was not in the film "Gone With The Wind." All of the scenes were filmed by props.Tara was built on the backlot of MGM.

  • I would love to vist Louisiana :( It looks so nice - And i would love to visit a Plantation like the ones on this video :)

  • Plantations have so much history.. it's incredible that some are still standing.

I couldn't help but think that the first plantation shown reminded me very much of Twelve Oaks in Gone With the Wind.

  • Such beautiful history--the homes that is. It's amazing how long they've stood through time, the slave quarters too. Great video.

  • Your videos are wonderful and your singing is magnificent. Thanks for putting those videos on you tube.

  • wow - thanks so much for the tours.

beautiful home! I love the old tree towards the end of the video. if that tree could talk ....

  • great video ! I was born and raised in New Orleans, and I have been up and down the river seeing all of these plantations you have on here ! Nothing like the old moss trees !!

  • beautiful video.

  • I'm Really enjoying your historical videos, I think American history is fasinating. Thankyou for this, All the Best!

  • It's great.Had a definate antebellum or Civil War era feel to it.

  • Your choice of music is perfect.Nothing mournful, just nostalgic. What was it?

  • It is called "American Classic" in the royalty free Stack Trax library.

  • Nostalgis definition: a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time:??!

who wants to yearn to go back to that?

plantations were horrific places, a mournful song would have been entirely much more appropriate.

  • Maybe. That's YOUR opinion and you're entitled to it.I'm not arguing history or morals, just commenting on music here.
