I shared this on my blog last year when I wrote my post for BlogBlast for Peace... it was and always will be one of the best songs about Peace out there. Thank you for sharing this wonderful version with us along with the story Arlo tells about his dad. Peace!
This song is a very simple and powerful one. Nobody writes lyrics like Woody, and Arlo's musical setting is just so perfect for it. When I do my CD of Peace Songs, I am going to want to cover this one for sure.
The song and the words are so gentle and beautiful, thank you for sharing. Something beautiful also happens at 4:33: "Something happens. Gets inside of you. Fixes things you didn't even know was wrong.". This is how I feel whenever I listen to Arlo. Things feel fixed and I feel good. Looking forward to the day the road brings you back to Minneapolis.
Thanks. Great dialogue. Excellent song. Wish I was there. A concert like that can keep you smiling for days, and thats the whole point. Don't see many call and response sing-alongs anymore. To my knowledge, Only Pete Seeger and Arlo used it in modern times.
PS. That's the most unusual looking acoustic guitar I've ever seen. It that a custom guitar?
Nobody tells a story like Arlo! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time, and I sure did need it! It was also interesting to hear a Woody Guthrie story, and I was always amazed that Woody was still writing songs right up until his death. And these songs are still coming to light now.

L O L *****s! I love the way Arlo mixes humorous story telling with song.
Thanks for sharing this video, Jackie...
The story I wrote for children is what got me to writing songs. The rewards are bringing me peace that I never had before.
God bless you and yours...

Gotta love Arlo when he tells stories, especially about his father.
