1. No, you don't sound like Darth Vadar, you sound like Hans Solo, :)
2. It always makes me giggle when two people argue in the comments.
3. It made me laugh out loud (literally) when part of the argument stated 'I have sat on the computer for OVER 2 years.'
Yes, some hedgies bite. Sometimes they do it out of being threatened, some do it out of boredom, some do it because you just taste that yummy, and some do it because they can.
@sonicxlover135 oh they would bite. and when they do you instictively pull, but than you have 1 kg shoelike bulldog hanging of your finger. they pierce skin AND nails when they feel threatened
@mizamazor yeah they do bite, but they don't hurt as bad, when you put it into words it sounds as if some one was drilling into you.Trust me I have sat on the computer for OVER 2 years it wont hurt as bad as you think, but their main defense system is to curl up and hiss, click and poke their quills out. They rarely bite,so don't go off saying that hedgehogs ONLY bite and not to get one,so please don't try to sound cool and talk back to me like that.
@sonicxlover135 I was bitten, hurts, leave wild hedgehog in their natural enviroment and don't stick your finger near their teeth, espcially when they're curled
@mizamazor u are a true idiot, what I am saying is that YES THEY DO BITE,but it isn't their first instinct to do that! And I rlly don't hear any reasearch coming from your mouth mr. know-it-all,I for once sat in front of the friggin computer doin reaserch on hedgehogs you retard! So shut up!!!!
@sonicxlover135 moment ago I was rofl cuz here's your little text in my inbox and beneath it "Tobias the angry hedgehog " like you signed it...so funny
I just bought a female 6 month old salt and pepper pinto yesterday. she's crabby, cause shes changed owners. but she hasnt bitten me yet. she is fine with sleeping with me or my husband, but if we move, she gets all huffy for a minute, and then calms down. hasnt bit either of us yet or anointed herself with our taste....she did it with the peanut butter though. lol. i can sometimes pick her up by the belly with both hands, but eventually she squirms and i have to let her down.
@asecreter Mine is REALLY old; and is getting slighly grumpier with her old age, she does this to mess around; because she lets me scratch her back; she's just always been a moody hedgehog, but shes so female looking its cute she even has longer hair then the other two we had.
Hey, guys -- I had no idea anyone had left any comments (I now have notifications turned on to alert me), but I've actually written quite a bit on my blog about owning and socializing hedgehogs -- socialnetworkexile at wordpress -- just select 'hedgehog' from the tag list. Tobias is my sixth hedgehog and I've written about this in great detail, and am happy to answer whatever questions anyone might have.
How odd that youtube won't let me post the direct URL for my blog in comments, but whatever. Suffice to say, Tobias is my sixth hedgehog, I love talking about them and will answer any question anyone has about them or find out what the answer is if I don't know.
@RascalRileyPicturess Just by spending a lot of time with the animal -- what most people don't realize is that this kind of huffing behavior is both a defensive posture AND a greeting. The trick is just to keep in mind that just because your animal behaves this way, it doesn't mean it doesn't like you, just that this is how they interact socially.

for your info,if a hedgehog feels threatened they will not bite, they curl up in their ball and hiss and growl, probably stick you with their quills.

It is a little known fact that hedgehogs keep a nest of bees hidden under their spikes to deter predators.
