y'know after seeing all the hidden blades on youtube, they aren't that hard to make, it's the locking mechanism that's the hard part.

i like this design, but idk if ur old locking mechanism would work well here. When I made mine, I went to the dollar store and bought an umbrella and used the upper "locking" portion of the umbrella, attached a string on a ring, then mounted it under the blade and cut a hole so that the "lock" portion would catch on the inner slide. that might work here.

@rememberthecreed i could use that for the retraction but i don't know how much force would be needed for the extension. also, i don't know if it would take up too much space. I'm trying to make this one compact

@TheBserk true, he has too many springs, the locking mechanism is the only thing i took away from it...and I have to say dude, the more i watch this vid, the more impressed i am, u are one of the first people i've seen on youtube to successfully incorporate the scissor jack into the hidden blade design. I'd go so far as to say that with enough tweaking and fine tuning, u could be the first person to successfully replicate the full design of the hidden blade.
