  • There are lots of people who never played before and it would be nice to have an explanation as if you were talking to a beginner who has never played before. What happens if you go over the total by accident? There are things about scoring that you didn't explain and some that was not clear to a total novice. I think you could start from the very beginning, by explaining the objectives and some examples of strategies and common examples of mistakes that beginners make. Thanks!

  • keep hitting 0:13 look at his face

  • What do you do if you have to close on a double and there's only one point left?

  • @BDRSeth your bust

  • @BDRSeth Each time you miss double one and hit the single one you must start again and try hit double one.

  • Also, is there no score at all in the black ring on the outside (with the numbers in it)?In other words - do you score from the 'double' ring inwards, only? Sorry for my ignorance; but I'm not REALLY stupid, I know and play many games - golf, Aussie Rules, Snooker, Bridge etc etc etc. But darts?......nup!

  • Thankyou!! You explained it well. Short simple and sweet. BTW, what is your opinion of 'magnetic' darts? I know of some neighbours who play Aussie Rules Footy (darts) with them, but I'd like to know if they're O.K. for ordinary games like 301 etc. I'm going to try to organise some physically handicapped kids to play - and regular darts are just too dangerous for them. (We won't EVER be playing competition games, of course! - I just need to know some basics about it.)

    Thanks,

    Luka

  • good i understand it with first!:)

  • I posted part of the ADO rules if anyone would like to learn more about darts just Google ADO (American Darts Org.) You can also Google BDO. What I would like to know is what League or tournaments this guy (stewartx5) has played in that does not use the "Bust Rule"?

  • I made two other posts yesterday that have since been removed as well as my 1st post. Stewartx5 is giving bad info when he says if you leave 1 in a game of darts you loose.

    ADDITIONAL ADO 01 COMPETITION RULES

    40.

    41.

    42. The BUST RULE will apply. If the player scores one less,

    equal, or more points than needed to reach zero, he has

    busted. His score reverts to the score required prior to the

    beginning of his turn.

  • waffle waffle waffle......!

  • i want to know how to hit the dart board let alone the single 20

  • for example, my remaining points is 2. when trying to hit double-1, I accidentally hit single-1 or any number which will add up to more than 501?

  • lcabasug > ".. my remaining points is 2 .."

    Darts is a game of strategy as well. Adjust scoring earlier to avoid small numbers. If you leave yourself 40 at the end (for example), you can go for double 20. If you hit single 20 instead, you can still go out with a double 10. And if you hit a single 20 and a single 10, you can still finish with double 5. Three chances of getting a double. If you need more than that, practice. :)

  • yeah but happens when you are left with one.. was the original question. i wanna know too

  • victorsasami > '.. yeah but happens ..'

    Sorry, thought my previous comment made the answer fairly obvious - you must end in a double. In other words, if you end up with a one, and thus cannot possibly hit a double, you lose. The remaining players play out the rest of the game until one wins.

  • @stewartx5 Wrong Its called busting. You only lose the remainder of that turn not the game. Your score reverts back to what it was before you busted. If your opponent does not win the game on a double you get to try for the out ( Double) again.

  • @MrMfreeze '.. Wrong Its called busting ..'

    Read the question and my prior comment again. If the player ends up with a one, he cannot possibly ever get a double. Under most rules (and as a courtesy), a player with a one leaves the game to avoid delaying the other players.

  • @stewartx5 Wrong wrong wrong, I have played darts competitively for over 20 years. Until this post I have never heard of this. I pasted the following from the ADO rules:

    ADDITIONAL ADO 01 COMPETITION RULES

    40. Errors........

    41. A Leg/Match ....

    42. The BUST RULE will apply. If the player scores one less,

    equal, or more points than needed to reach zero, he has

    busted. His score reverts to the score required prior to the

    beginning of his turn.

  • @MrMfreeze

    The BDO rules read:

    11.03The Bust rule shall apply, IE: if a player scores more than the number required then that score shall not count, and the players score shall revert back to the score the player required prior to the opponents last throw.

    Do I need to look up the PDC rules for you? The will read about the same.

    ADO = American Darts Org.

    BDO = British Darts Org.

    PDC = Professional Dart Corporation

    Look it up

  • @stewartx5 I read your post and it seems to me that you must be talking about some local pub rules. Darts; when played in a sanctioned competition, only envoles 2 scores. Most leagues play doubles and team games,but these still only have 2 scores, 1 for each team. What describe sounds like a large group, 3 or more, playing a game at the pub. Each player having his own score.

  • @MrMfreeze > '.. it seems to me ..'

    Perhaps I've not been clear enough. After answering lcabasug's question (about busting), victorsasami then asked what happens "when you are left with one" - a slight variation on lcabasug's question. Again, if you end with a score of one (1) after the last throw of your turn, you lose since there's no way to get a double afterwards. Not aware of another rule dealing with this.

  • @MrMfreeze

    I'll cut you some slack, you did put a Smiley after the commit, but you need to be careful what you say to someone just learning the game. This game can be very frustrating. I have seen too many people quit the game out of frustration.

  • @MrMfreeze > '.. I'll cut you some slack ..'

    And, beyond this, I'll cut you some slack by simply ignoring your last two comments.

  • thanks alot

  • thank you monkeyseevideos. this helps me a lot.
