  • @CrazyBeatlesFanatic It is how many times I rewinded the game to a previous savestate to redo a certain section, as little as a frame sometimes.

    Hard to explain,but image that you're almost to another "screen" just a line's partition and you walk to it,pressed the select button for map,and canceled the map.

    Or you could search for "Zelda: Link's Awakening glitches" on google.

    Even the Dragon Ball series was about more than just action. Sadly, the infamous Over 9000 scene will forever humorously make fun of how bad it can be. XD

  • I love how the main theme can be heard echoed during the final boss fight music.

  • When I had this game when I was a kid, it took years to beat this game. {No help to the 7th dungeon}. Now, it's been completely glitched and beat in less than 4 minutes...

    It was really cool to see how you can glitch the game. I didn't really understand how the ladder suddenly appeared at the end without finishing the darkness in the wind egg but I'll figure it out soon enough.

  • You're referring to SDA rules now. This video was made for TASvideos, which has other timing rules. Our timing rules are basically: from power-on until last input needed to finish the game (which usually is get to credits)

  • map screen glitch, what you do is when you go to another area, press select right before you go in the area, this doesnt work in the DX version.

  • Has anyone noticed in the beginning of the game in the starting cutscene you have a rope around your arm. Then in the ending cutscene you're on the same pole with a rope around your arm? I guess that dream happened really fast.

  • If tools are allowed, couldn't you develop/use a tool to take you straight to the final boss or the windfish screen immediately rather than go through all the other screens you visited to get there? I'm not familiar with TAS's, but if tools are fair game in them, wouldn't all of them have times of for example 10 seconds or less by just warping directly to the endgame and skipping everything the player would possibly have to do before then?

  • Any warping like that would require editing the actual game, which is something we NEVER do in TASes - it's strictly prohibited. Anything we do in TASes is theoretically possible on a real console, except it'd be really hard with some of the luck manipulation and frame-perfect timing of the moves. "Tools" only means we slow down the game (and watch (mind you, not edit) memory adresses) to achieve perfection.

  • Actually, the end credits aren't screwed up by the glitching done to the game. They were screwed up by Youtube's insistence on their movies being 30FPS. On the original hardware, the letters flickered to produce a transparency effect of the system's LCD screen. Worked pretty well.

    As far the run, all I have to say is, "What in the..."

  • At 2:48, the boss already realized that you just split him into two weak worthless glitch bosses. So he just let you end the game, rather than prolong his humiliation.

    I also liked you at the beginning of the fight attacking the evil nightmares with the holy charged shovel.

  • TASes take a lot of skill to create, just a different sort of skill than actually playing at full speed. It's kinda like doing math problems vs. playing sports.

  • A, B, Start and Select together brings up the Save & Quit screen. It works in both versions of the game.

  • It's not a cheat, it can be preformed on a real Gameboy too. Though it only works on the first version of the game (must be black&white). To do it, when you walk off a screen to start the scrolling, you press the select button to bring up the map, and then close it. It is very hard to preform in realtime; you only have 1/30th of a second to react on the first press. If the next screen contains any solid walls and you get the press wrong, you'll end up stuck on them, forcing you to restart.

  • It's not just you. The credits get messed up the same way as the nightmare bosses get fucked up.

  • There isn't any real playing skill involved, except maybe knowing the game inside out, which you can only achive by playing through it a lot of times.

  • Marin flies across the screen with big, fly wings at the end? That's probably from all the screen glitch abuse, right?
