  • If only the world was like this

  • amazing

  • I love the beautiful comments on this line on what this song means (except of course the ones that comment about who dislikes the song). I bought this album back in the day and consider it some of the best music of my life. The message, the delivery. I have seen these men perform....they were elegant, beautiful and Levi didn't have that ego to try to put his name out as Levi and the Tops or something. I met his cousin and she says he was a doll. RIP Levi. I miss all of you!

  • Sometimes when i hear this song i think i might see GOD but when i do see GOD i hope i hear this song. PEACE LOVE JOY .

  • rip George rountree

  • The Four Tops! One heck of an incredible group. My buddy Skip and I used to jab back and forth as to which group was better Four Tops...Temptations...Smokey..Little Anthony....They were/are great.

  • love it

  • This song is a full 360 degrees...

The beauty of birth, and on to the last mile walked before we return to the essence. Nothing more beautiful and moving than the good memories of our lives... although some of us have pain, Levi and the Tops were and still ARE medicine for our souls. What would we do if we didn't have such melodic songs that help us heal, and uplift us? Soul music helps us live, and then carries us gently into the atmosphere as we eventually go home.

    Peace and Love

    your Comrade

  • had this dedicated to our parents at their 25 wedding anniversary, no dry eyes, what loving lyrics

  • I gravitate to those of heart and soul..l feel you more than words can ever touch upon. We live with ourselves and others. Who can't touch, that which they hurt. My heart is deep. I can feel the bottom of the lake, the path of the river, but never the depth of the sea. Let darkness be, as you seek the light. e

  • YOU must take from MUSIC what YOU want, what other,s may think is not what you must FEEL,just be yourself, let the SOUL of your HEART,speak for its self.

It's not about who you think you are or how others percieve you, it's about you being yourself and being comfortable with who you are!

  • BORING

  • @oceanbound222 YOUR ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION

  • @oceanbound222 Ignorance is a sad thing!!!

  • @oceanbound222 You are one stupid ass. You really do need hearing aids. I know youtube has all kinds of dumb asses who don't have anything else to do but to criticize and belittle.

  • Only, and I do mean, ONLY, the Four Tops, could do it like this!

Levis Stubbs had an instrument that was as important to the sound of the sixties and seventies, as anything produced by Mozart, or Bach!

What class these gentlemen displayed for a career that has spanned over 6 decades!

I miss all of the members who have passed on, but I thank God, that we have their recordings!

  • Maybe the reason this song is so sweet is because it was written and produced by Smokey Robinson.

  • @mattbayan Frank Wilson had a hand in this, too, and so did Jimmy Roach(Song released in April 1970 as Motown 1170 on Motown's Record Label)

  • Loooooove the 4 Tops.....

  • Some of us don't need an explaination.

We hear the words and say, Dam, this is my story.

Thank You Four Tops for telling it so beautifuly

  • classic good music with meaning never dies and " still waters STILL run deep" :-)

  • Terry Callier done a great version to this...

  • Thank you. without the introduction the song makes no sense.

Just as the did with The Commodores' Just To Be Close to You.

You really don't understand the feeling until you experience Lionel

    Ritchie's introduction.

  • @cwartis Thanks for the tip. I just listened to the long version of "Just to Be Close to You" - yes, I see what you mean.

  • Beautiful

  • Even though we had so many fun times together, you never understood how much I enjoyed those quiet times. For it was in those moments I was telling you how much I loved you. Some us just don't brag or boast, but it was deeper than you ever knew.

    Stll miss you Les

  • This is the Best beautifull songs that I've ever heard and expect to hear.

  • All I can say to this GREAT version and video is "AAAAHHHHH ! !"

  • Great Video , The song really takes me back to the time of innocence and those carefree days ! THANKS !!

  • yes it dont get no better than this

  • Man , The Four Tops when they had a great song ,IMO there hit songs sound better than the Temptations. (I love the Temps, don't get me wrong)

  • Sorry ..dude your right,..Its the right speed....starts slow in the begining of the song and the tempo steps up.....

  • Music really doesn't get much better than this, in any language. Danke.

  • Wrong speed.....

  • @salbella50

    Nope, it's not............

  • To this day, Levi Stubbs stands as one of the top male singers of his day. Motown alone had Marvin, Smokey, David Ruffin, just to name a few. Mr. Stubbs stands amongst them. He may not be the best, but he's always been great.

  • @jabnhook2 The most dramatic. He was as great as any singer.

  • Love the way you played "Still Water Peace" and then "Still Water Love". The same way I use to play it back in the day. Thank-you for posting it....

  • Back in the day, I had this tune on an 8-track. Played it so much the tape broke.

  • What A Song... What A Group... What A Voice !!!!

  • I know Motown has had great songs , however I think they had a great sound in 1970 exhibit A is this song right now, exhibit b is STONED LOVE by the Supremes.

Positive, Love, and well written songs.

  • It was the summer of 1970 living in eastern North Carolina (Rocky Mount) when I first heard this totally beautiful song by the Four Tops. I didn't know that this would be one of my all-time favorite songs after so-so-so many years of living.

The song "Still Water" is a beautiful memory of True "Soul Music" and it's deep meaning of life. Just listen to the vocals over and over a few times and you will truly understand the true meaning of "Love & Peace"

    Four Tops and Motown Forever!

    Sport67

  • AMEN !

  • Pure Genius, I love it. I couls stare at the photos all day long too!

Four Tops please come back and show these 'artists' of today what real musical depth really is, please!!!

  • @rAYsimmon You got that EXACTLY right.

  • Absolutely love it

  • I remember I was visiting a friend on Horton St in Buffalo NY. I had just bought the Still Water lp while it was brand new. The guy who lived upstairs hear me playing Still Water and he came down and asked me who was singing. I told him it was the new Tops song. He thought it was fine. Still Water is still my fave Tops song. I really like this long version and the slide show that goes with it. Thanks.

  • I like the vocal harmonies the most. This was from an era when singers HAD to sing good. There were no digital voice enhancers to cover any flaws.

  • That is true. "Video did kill the radio star." IMHO, looks, today, are more important than voice.

  • @YourMamasHangOut

It was sadly in the 60's also, look at the Supremes for example. Diana Ross was not the best singer of the group.

  • @terrafirma91 yah i love the way they sung this song. this song feels real gud

  • Listened to this on my am radio..during the long hot summers in Chicago..had very little as a kid growing up but this music got me through..dreams kept me going...made millions over my life but none of it brought the happiness that listening to this music did...America was defined by this music...people travelled to this country just to experience it...it was copied, sung and worshipped around the world...just like DEMOCRACY..SOUL/R&B is part of our DNA...

  • It's funny how songs can bring back old memories. Now, you've got me wondering who you are? Are you a former pro basketball player?

  • There was a book written in connection with a movie(HOOPDREAMS) about some kids from Cabrini Green projects in Chicago that played high school basketball..connected through that

  • OK, thanks. . . I Googled it. I came up with three possibilities. You're, possibly, the writer, or Aurthur Agee, or William Gates. My husband's first thought was Isaiah Thomas.

  • @HOOOPDREAM I can't recall the long poor summers in El Paso that I recall that music got me throught ... Very true about the depths of the waters and the character of a man.... God bless music....

  • @HOOOPDREAM that was well said, i give u a thumbs up.

  • @HOOOPDREAM you know, i listened to this music as a teenager in columbus, ohio. this song sort of defined the type of man i wanted to marry; one just like my dad. i wasn't interested in someone with alot of bling, someone flashy, although there are a great many men and women who have all of that and deserve a closer look. i simply wanted a man who would be a challenge, and let his actions speak for themselves. there's something about that kind of man.

  • @HOOOPDREAM, Preach your sermon. I totally agree with every thing you said even though I grew up in the Englewood area, South Side. Ditto! Ditto! Ditto! Oh, except for the Millions part--on the real--still on my way. :)))

  • @HOOOPDREAM Still waters of democracy still running deep...in Tunisia and Egypt lately. :-). Liked your post. Like you, had little other than library books and great music that continues to sustain.

  • Loveland Colorado Rocks. ;-)

    Peace ALL.

  • brill even today
