  • Who is 1:05?

  • @Himaryous Mary Boleyn, Anne Boleyn's sister.. if I remember correctly :)

  • How heavy was King Henry VIII?

  • Probably 200-250 lbs.Back then so many people were thin that even a little extra weight was 'fat'.His size is likely exagerated.

  • They believe that Henry was around 28 stones (weight of measurement at that time) when he died, which would have been just south of 400 lbs. 200 to 250 at the height of 6'2' would be healthy since the man was a jousting, hunting, boxing, and tennis fiend. That is until his accident.

  • beautiful music

  • Wonderful! 5 Stars!

  • beautiful video thanks

  • You are welcome

  • great video music works well with the paintings can you please tell me who is 55 and 100 the women at 100 looks like princess marry tudor Henry's sister but I think im wrong

  • At 55 Margaret Tudor.

    At 1.00 Mary Tudor

    Both Henry's sisters.

  • thanks I appreciate the reply

  • Catherine Parr

  • Shakespeare did write a play entitled "Henry VIII" but no one really knows about it. The whole Tudor period, I believe, is one of intrigue and betrayal in a sense.

  • very true, i feel a lot of symphathy for her especially as she had done nothing but love him

  • Fugli mach dich bitte aus dem Staub. Heinrich der VIII war entschieden der bessere Komponist!!!

  • feels towards their own beliefs. It's just a matter of opinion. For my own, I think that it doesn't matter who was his wife. We should remember the whose who made English history and respect them for keeping it alive. It's a period in time that should always be remembered.

  • To marry such a tyrant as many historians consider him, would have taken guts to do in itself. The legitimacy of the claim for any of his wives depends on how legitamate each individual

  • God Save the Queen, Catalina de Aragón.

    Catalina de Aragón.

    Not Catherine of Aragon.

The name is Catalina, and the names of persons not translate.

  • She signed herself Katherine, "Katherine the Quene"

  • she signed wherself "Katharine the Quene" it was an "a" not an "E"

  • Catalina De Aragon (Catherien of Aragon)

    Henry VIII's True Wife

  • The six were his true wives during the time they were married to him.

  • that depends on your opinion and interrtrapation(sp?) some people believe catherine of aragon's marriage wasnt legal some people believ anne boleyn's marriage wasnt legal im one of the people who dont think anne's marriage was technically legal

  • That was in XVI Century. We are in XXI Century now and accept these six great women as true Queens. They deserve that

  • well it is still my opinion and the opinion of others some have the opposite opinion, we will just have to agree to disagree

  • Ok. In XVI Century people were quite narrow minded, now we are in better times and can recognize those six brave women married to a man as Henry VIII.

  • wow you really hate Anne Boleyn. Sorry to sound mean since I DO like you, but you need to get a grip if you think everyone has the same opinion of Anne Boleyn as you do!

  • I could say the same to you about Catherine of Aragon, even if you dont hate her it does come across as it a lot of the time, no offence intened btw, i like you too :)

  • I am sorry but I've read some of your posts regarding Katherine Aragon and her daughter Mary Tudor (Queen Mary I) and they just reek of your dislike/hatred for them. I don't see the difference. Pot-kettle-black. Judge not that ye not be judged.

  • you're right. I'm sorry I offended you.

  • For one-she released the Roman Catholics that had been on the brink of death no thanks to Edward's Protectorate "These be my prisoners". If Mary had not been robbed of her youth, her mother, and love she might have had her health and mental well being-and many more years to right her father's wrongs. In my opinion she would have done great things if given half the chance-Elizabeth and her supporters basically trashed Mary after her death. Nice propoganda job too. But Mary now has TBC

  • Thanks audie83 for setting the record straight.

  • She was kept in spinsterhood straight through to middle age as well-no thanks to the Protestants in power through Henry and Edward's reigns. I would have been bitter too. I'm not Catholic-I don't need to be to see the great injustice that was done to this much maligned woman. Her sister had many Catholics FINED if they did not want to go to Protestant services-and then eventually had them put to death not the least which was an ANOINTED QUEEN Mary, Queen of Scots.

  • Mary Queen of Scots was plotting against her.

  • Mary, Queen of Scots was not executed for being Catholic, nor will it ever be truly confirmed whether or not she was plotting, but her execution was strictly political.

  • Blackmore's Night version of this song is amazing!

  • I agree

  • I assume Henry wore those big padded jackets to make him look more masculine but they make him look ridiculous. Also was Cardinal Wolsey really that big? He was a big bloke for those days.

  • Hey Nathan, Don't know how big Wolsey was but King Hal was 6'2". That is very tall by today's standards. Today, the average height for males in the US and Western Europe is

5'10". Also, Henry gets a bad rap, as more often portrayed as big and fat. He was, after age 40 but as a youth, he was supposed to be in fantastic shape, and VERY handsome.

  • so cheesy

  • I've never heard this song sung with a yank accent before! What a way to destroy a beautiful traditional English song!

It's f*$#ing horrible and there should be a law against it!! Henry the 8th is spinning in his grave! ha ha ha!

    Thanks for posting anyway!

    ;)

  • You're welcome

  • So what accent should it be sung in? King Henry wouldn't have spoken with a modern english accent, it was written 500 years ago!

  • ay, there's the rub!

  • Tis the grete classick by Olde Kinge Harry!! He wroteth it they claimeth! Personallie, I liketh the Musica Reservata versione under the goodley Michael Morrow...it be fulle of puissance, and joysannes.

    Must eateth the Syllabub!

    R.Searle

  • Pastyme with good companye by Kynge Henry the 8th. Amazing songe.

  • man the queen were ugly back then that goodness that beauty has evolved :)

  • Not that Henry was any prize.

  • where can I get this song on CD?

  • The performer is Fugli

  • I have another question- when were the portraits of Katharine of Aragon, Catherine Howard, and Katherine Parr painted- the years, I mean? Aragon looks so young- and beautiful!

  • Very difficult to answer, which pics are you referring to?

  • the ones in this vid

  • The picture was done by hans hoblin in her early years at court perhaps right after her marrage to arthur :)

  • I love the music from this era!
