  • Great review, definatley getting that field binder kit. Anyone into long range shooting should consider getting one of these whether military or otherwise. This has great potential to be a log book, and with those punchout print sheets you can even make your own range cards / wind / calc and place / data sheets on your computer for numerous conditions all in a neat package. Those military symbols are for marking maps btw. They even have a symbol for raping/pillaging :S. Thanks for the review!

  • A note: penicils work well in the rain WITH write in the rain notebooks. Pencils are also non-mechanical for reliablity. Which reminds me of a urban legend handed down from the astronautical field. USA space program spent allot of money to develope a pen that would work in space. USSR space program used a pencil. LOL

  • Can you tell me the exact notebook code number for that yellow hard cover notebook that appears first in the video. Thanks!

  • @Kejatz Sure thing!

    Yellow All-Weather Journal

    No. 390F Horz Line-Fab ISBN 978-1-932149-48-7

    Green All-Weather Field Book

    No. 980 ISBN 978-1-932149-28-9

  • @RoscoeBa Thank you very much! :)

I figured on the green one, but info is appreciated. If I'm not mistaken that Green Field Book contains 16 pages of tactical references. If that is so, I don't think I'll be buying it although I prefer the green color over yellow. Those pages are a waste of space for us non-military boys and girls. :) I'm thinking of buying that Yellow Journal to log my trips. But I was afraid it was too big.

  • SOGGYWETNESS LOL

  • fisher bullet space pen is my current edc pen, would pair nicely with the rite in the rain paper.

  • Hey RoscoeBa, I was just thinking that maybe the tiny pocket is there to hold a replacement ink cartridge? If that's not it then I dunno... ;D

  • hey!! a got mine from maxpeditioncom and never see the tactical cards... were you got them???

  • Good idea. Too bad that 'rite in the rain' company doesn't answer emails or return phone calls, it's like they don't want to sell their product.

  • the little pocket where you tried to put the fisher space pen i think is for extra lead for your pencil

  • mol skeena?

i always assumed it was pronounced mole skin

  • @johnmonk66

either way, sounds fancier when she sais it.

  • That is so kool! I always cover my maps in plastic!

  • were do you get you maps of the hikeing trails?

  • I pick them up at the ranger station at the park, or via the mountain hiking club I belong to. There are some online topo sites that might be helpful with free topo maps.

  • Right on brother!! I walked over to my work bag (MaxPed Methuselah...) and pulled out my Apica to see which one I have. 6A10. Actually use two. They are my Special Project notebooks for work and indeed the paper is sweet! They're also the ones I've given mostly as random gifts for folks. Now I have RITR to add to my Gift Arsenal!

  • I figured out a use for that little pocket that you cant fit your pen in. I have my Sandisk Cruzer 16 GB USB memory drive that fits in that little pocket perfectly. I wonder what's it was designed for though?

  • Love the video Roz, I've loved rite-in-the-rain for a while, I used to go through more notepads by leaving them in my jeans and washing them....I washed my first RITR pad 3 times before I finished the notepad. I'm thinking of going with the memo pad next time instead of the spiral notepad because I don't like crushed spirals and I had to keep the book in my front pocket. It wasn't a problem in the winter bcz I put the pad in my jacket pocket but in the summer it was a pain!

  • I think the tiny pocket is meant for pencil/pen refills.

  • i used rite in rain note books while at the ranger school in wanakena, we went out in all weather and had to take pages of notes, these books are the best note books i have ever had, while out on a lab hike we were in a torrential rain storm learning siviculture and we had to take like 12 pages of notes and these books didnt skip a beat, one person drop their book in a muddy swamp and washed the book off and didnt loose anything he wrote. best books ever!

  • Maybe that mystery pocket is for ink refills?

  • As always thanks for your great videos. This is a series I have been waiting for.
