It's wonderful - remember seeing it on TV. I also saw this production and met her after the show - the final show. She was warm, kind, and gracious - signed autographs, hugged, kissed, talked - down to earth. I'm sorry the unions can't all agree so that more of these original stage productions can be shown on TV and bought on DVDs. These are great examples to show future show biz actors, actresses, musicians, composers, lyricists, anyone interested in theater.
Anyone know where the announcer was standing at the beginning? Was it across the street? I could see Florsheim Shoes at 2:01 when it briefly cuts to him.
There is now here on youtube Sandy Duncans WHOLE Peter Pan production. :-) I LOVED this production. Theatrical Maria/Tiger Lily caused my jaw to drop (her makeup alone was stunningly dramatic) along with amzg Sandy Duncan who was no doubt the BEST Peter Pan. That feather Maria/Tiger Lily is wearing is hilariously tall. I wonder if she ever busted one with too dramatic of a head sweep. I can also only imagine the backstage clearing that had to be maneuvered for it! LOL.
I remember auditioning for Rob Iscove several times for this show. He seemed to like me and always greeted me by name, never cut me but for some reason I never got the job :(. Maybe I was too Italian looking. I loved the choreography, so much fun! I think that the clapping and definitely the isolations at the end were part of the auditions...again FUN FUN FUN!!!!
GREAT video of Sandy showing more of her GREAT singing & dancing ability!! But I'll bet it was probably Cold! You should watch her appearance on "The Muppet Show" singing "a Girl Like me" in a bar setting with people in muppet type costumes on this website!!!!
What a delight to find this video! I loved this show - saw it many times at the Pantages in LA. Sandy is so talented - wish she did more performing now. Thank you for posting this.
Gosh, what great memories. Seeing so many friends again, and one of the loves of my life, the late Michael Estes. He was one of the older lost boys, and we were very much in love at that time. I miss him and think about him often.
He did. Ron did a major overhaul before we opened in NY. Rob's work was lovely and thoughtful but the producers thought it lacked punch. One thing he cut was an underwater dance with mermaids and pirates after being thrown overboard from the the ship.
@jodygreeneyes There's a version of Mary Martin's original take from the 60's that they played repeatedly on NBC over the years. That's the one I remember from when I was little. :)
Sandy Duncan sucked

That is talent, when it sounds and looks professional in the middle of the fucking street.

this was my favorite scene on stage when they were banging on the stage floor and the clapping really echoed through the theater.

I bet their hands were dying after this, with all that clapping they were doing.

This was bretty awsome. Wasn't nearly as simple as Mary's production, but mot as difficult as cathy's. The really high energy made it work perfectly.

He did. Ron did a major overhaul before we opened in NY. Rob's work was lovely and thoughtful but the producers thought it lacked punch. One thing he cut was an underwater dance with mermaids and pirates after being thrown overboard from the the ship.
