  • I'm still thorn between the 4.10 & 3.73s in my auto 2008 GT .. can't decide what to get.

  • @marc12marc 4.10s. Don't fear the gear! :)

  • @TroutButter I got the 4.10s this week ! best upgrade to my stang yet! Love the gear !

  • Is it bad to drive an automatic 08' mustang in 2nd, i do it all the time. just want to know if it'll mess up the engine. i drive it in 2nd because its fast and responsive.

  • Thanx for this vid! Strongly considering... any word on mpg with a light foot?

  • @robsolf I average 19 MPG daily. Mix of city & highway. My daily MPG didn't change any, but the MPG I get on trips did! I used to get ~27 on road trips, and now I get around 23. Worth it though. Car is a beast out of the hole!

  • @ChrissGT Thanks, again! Sounds like you get slightly less than I do, now, bone stock. I drive about 60% highway, though, so 4.10's may be a bigger sacrifice for me. Maybe when I get a tuner I could get a tune that can compensate.

  • @ChrissGT dunno what happened to your your reply to me. 23-24 MPG is significant on the highway, but I still can't help but assume that your foot will let off earlier in city driving... it's a very tempting upgrade, so long as they adjust the MPH. And keep in mind, MPH is ALWAYS off.

  • Hmmm... I must not know how Youtube does replies... thought your reply to mine didn't show up. to repeat what I'd already said, unless you're all highway, this sounds like a mod to consider, and I appreciate chrissgt for running video of it!

  • The theoretical top speed of these cars is around 200 MPH. Since we don't live in a vacuum you will never reach it, no matter how much power you have. These cars seem to be limited aerodynamically to around 155 - 160 MPH. Even with 4:10 gears you won't be able to reach redline in 5th. Some people get too hung up on potential loss of top speed with 4:10s. Top speed is somewhat useless on public roadways. Having a vehicle that is geared properly to the speeds we normally drive is more important.

  • 4.10,s on my auto as well. Got a few boring vids on my page. Love those gears though!

  • are 4.10s better for a dig and 3.73 are better for a roll?

  • wait so is it possible to put 4.10 gears on an automatic v6??

  • hey your on E

  • you running some high rpms like that and u aint got no gas

  • 3.73's are the best of both worlds.

  • every mustang video i watch the fuel guage is so friken low, kinda funny cuz i drive mine till its empty then on put a 20 in the tank lol

  • @macus1305 you should stop doing that, cause if you run the tank close to empty, it will start sucking dirt which will mess up your car and feul tank after a while, always leave a quarter, or even a half before filling.

  • @pkidro doesnt matter man you act like the car doesn't have a fuel filter nothing is gonna happen besides some fuel starvation if the tank is really empty...my dad runs his ford expedition (2001) to empty and nothing bad happens

  • Comment removed

  • "fuel level low" hahaha!

    I just ordered 4.10s for my '11 automatic V6 pony :)

  • I have a 05 GT and trying to decide between 3:73's or 4:10's... ?? I don't do a lot of hwy driving, mainly in town driving, and my car is a auto. I sometimes go to our local 1/8 th mile drag strip so I think 4:10's would help more with my times. What do you think? How is your gas mileage now?

  • Even going 80, he didn't appear to be gaining on the cars ahead. Cool video.

  • xxbal1inxx- if all other variables are the same then yes. it is possible to go faster too with them

  • dont feel bad, my 84 stang only has a 3 speed so i cruise around like that AND im slow off the line!

  • do the higher gears, like 4:10 have a faster 0-60 then like 3:73's?

  • @xxbal1inxx yes the 4.10's should get you off the line faster

  • @rlmud-it's hp that'll push your top end

@boosted05stang-I've seen 1/4 slips that go from mid 10s-12s. suspention, tires, track and driver make that up. 60ft should be high 1 seconds

  • Now you cruise at 80 at the same RPM as a 1970 with an FMX piece of crap.

  • up top ???

    its torque not hp

  • ive got a 05 gt supercharged and i was in love with my 3.90 gears but you know how it is when you get used to it and you want more. at 80mph i do 2700rpm and i hit 130mph with ease but starts to struggle to accelerate past 140mph. whats your top end look like? do you have a idea about your quarter mile 60foot?

  • yes sir bro 2800 rpms at 70. that is well worth the shot out of the hole.

we call 410s neck snappers. and not a hole hell of a difference with the 373s as far as rpms go but the 410s out of the hole rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i remember my old 4.10's not good for highway trips high rpm at 70-80 mph

  • I'm not sure about an auto but mine is a manual and from 3.55s to 4.10 shift points are the same:

    1-2:25ish

    2-3:55-60ish

    3-4:100ish

4-5:with 3.55s at 140 and with 4.10s I didn't have enough of a stretch of road to get to 5th(I was aerodynamically limited I think)

each shift is at 6k rpm

  • What are your shift points?

  • thats gotta be awesome for bottom end, but 3 grand at 80 is to much for my taste scince i usually go 85-90 on the free way , gas would be to shitty, ill probly get 3:73 gears

  • I know a stock 5 speed GT at 75-80 would be sitting at ~2k

  • What is ur shift points set too?

  • you should try 5:13 gears you will take off quick as a mofo they are quicker than 410 speed will kill you my guy.. thats what porsches, and lamborghinis are made for.. speed.

  • @woodsmith9: Unfortunately, that would limit your top end..............and with a 5 speed? You'll make maybe 120, at the very MOST.

  • Hey, thanks for posting. I was just wondering this today as a matter of fact. It's not as bad an increase as I thought when comparing it to my '07's 3:31's.

  • lol auto, manual its all the same really it all comes down to whos faster on the track and whats your numbers??

its kinda like disagreeing with people who use nos when your just goin straight motor lol i got 03 gt auto ive got friends who have all manual and its always great races between eachother. just a personal prefrence and a damn good price on the car. lol

  • @MoOkstErChOokSteR06 you are right. A lot of people bad mouth Automatics but the forget that a "Stalled" Automatic and for those who don't know what stalled means..one with a torque converter can be a monster. But i'm with you on what you are saying

  • @MrUnKnOwNM4 loll dont cry dickhead dont cry

  • @ericsyutubeaccount loll on the way, a Tko 6 speed tranny is around 3000$. A C4 SuperComp is like 1200$. On the way, drag racing and laping isnt same thing. I know some people that replaced their Tremec 2 times. I drove a hell of foxbody's when I shopped them and manual ones runs like shit. Freakin cheap rebuilt non syncro jobs. Drag : you dont have any negative point of having it auto Laping : yes manual is better, but dude,

  • @ericsyutubeaccount loll and he got the same BS comments on each video pages that dude is so much retarded. It's like if a young boy would say, my dad's stronger than yours, shut your freakin mouth eric and post some bright answers :)

  • @MrUnKnOwNM4 cause posers with autos piss me off

  • I wont spend 50 000$ on a Mustang to do some laping, ill go buy a fuckin M5 before that. And if your happy to shift your high rpm like you said, well im happy for you, but a 0-100 or a rool 20-150 on the highway, quite close to a drag course right??? Gears, stall converter, 5R55S like biffnacid said, and a great shifter's gonna do the job perfetly. Even a stock tranny with AOD kit is awsome, " got one" with a stall converter for crazy starts.

  • @ericsyutubeaccount cause posers with manual and BS comments piss me off also

  • @MrUnKnOwNM4 you dont know anything do you

  • why on earth would you buy an auto mustang

  • why not, with the right tuning it can shift faster than most manual drivers can, the 5R55S is one of the best autos out there, id take it over the manual any day.

  • @biffnacid but you cant throw it in the right gear when going around corners and you cant decide wether you want to drive gas conservatively or if you want it to shift at high rpms, plus with the tons of money you save from trying to tune up your auto tranny you could be spending on other stuff like engine work

  • yes this is true, but what i was trying to get out was that the automatic transmission in mustangs, and buying a stang with an auto doesnt isnt bad and doesnt make you a home or pussy or what ever it is that someone would want to say about it, i wasnt trying to start a fight or anything like that

  • I have a 5 speed in my 2010....my wife can't drive a stick so...BONUS!

  • . if somebody has an auto and their wife wants to drive it, just be a man and say no. is it "real men drive stick" or "real men drive stick to avoid revealing the fact that they're a little bitch?"

  • @jbriggs1966 is she hot?

  • my gt has a 5 speed do you think it would be the same

  • I should have enough money soon for a tuner and cai. Really will wake up the gears even more. I plan on setting my redline to 7000rpms since the gears wind up so fast now.

  • damm that high. im running about 88 mph in my versa at 3000 rpm

  • can u really tell the differens on the mpg

  • Runnin a little low on gas there

  • so honestly, what is best for an Automatic? the 3.73 or the 4.10 on a daily driver?

  • I can tell you this, most guys I have talked to love the 4.10s and would never consider pulling them and going any lower. IMO, the gas mileage difference with the 4.10s is minimal. The tune is key to calibrating all of your mods and making the car fuel efficient to an extent at the same time.

  • 4.10. Do you see alot of city or highway?

  • i know dudes running 4.30s on the freeway. just go slower.

  • 3.73

  • that thing revs as high at 70 as my civic hx haha. im sure the gears were worth it though.

  • Ok Im new to the Mustang GT Community and was recommended the 4:10 gears. Is it really worth the money?

  • for acceleration... hell yeah, the 4.10 will be amazing. you wont have as much top end but how often are you gonna be goin over 160 mph? i think they are a good investment. but thats my opinion

  • Its one of the best upgrades for the money, and noticable, its very good.

  • powerband has changed and when my speedo hits 145 my car is only doing 110 or 120. The car thinks its doing 145 so it cuts out on me. Ford could only calibrate up to 373 gears.

  • Can't you get a tune and that will fix that?

  • alright i got he 410s in and i do notice a difference from a dig. my speed is not calibrated. so im wondering what is the top speed on the automatics in overdrive.

  • what year is this mustang?

  • 2007

  • thanks

  • if u punch it at 70mph do you still get hard kick and does it keep going or does it fall on its face at 100mph

  • It'll keep going, but it doesn't seem to be all that impressive. The aerodynamics really limit it over 100. It doesn't feel any faster up top with the 4.10's, but from a dig it is a HUGE difference.

  • @ChrissGT ....Thsnks for the video. So a 4.10 gear is ok for a every day.

I have a 2005 Gt 5 speed would 373 or 4.10 be better. For off the line

highy way & top speed/ What do you fellow mustang guys recomend for me?

  • @benzguylv 4.10's is fine for everyday, because I have them. If its auto go with 4.10's and 3.73's for a manual and you will be fine. 4.10's are amazing off the line, I would say gives you almost like an AWD like launch.

  • @ChrissGT if you lower the gear ratio you loose top speed but you gain acceleration and vice versa

  • @jrodthegreat1 irrelevant unless you are pushing like 500+hp you wont be able to reach the top speed of the car anyway. (redline in 5th gear)

  • @ChrissGT I noticed with my 4.10 gears it sort of has a weak spot if you kick it down at about 70 mph. You're pretty much limited to turning the o/d off at that speed because doing a second gear drop will hit the rev limiter. Once it starts approaching about 95 mph though it really starts picking up the momentum pretty quickly. With the 4.30s I'm putting in, it may get rid of this "dead spot" in the shift schedule but moreso giving it one hell of a holeshot. :-)

  • You shouldve got the 5 speed. Ive got a 06 GT (intake, headers, x-pipe, exaust, tuned) and its a blast!!! Funest car Ive ever owned. Top speed so far with it is 146mph. Came up on traffic so I laid off.

  • Just to add up some specs. I hit 2300rpm at 80mph with 3.73 gear ratio on my 2010 gt

  • Thats a bit higher than my 04 GT with 4.10 gears. At 70mph I am turning 2500rpm's and at 80mph, about 2750.

  • I really appreciate you putting up this video. My 07 GT with 3:32 gears runs 4500 rpm at 155 mph (when the governor stops it). And its totally stock. I would love to know what it will do without the limiter and if adding 4:10 gears would help or hurt the top end. What type of gas mileage are you getting on the highway with the 4:10 gears? Thanks again.

  • man why u lie?

  • I have read the top speed of a 07 stang is 147 mph. I have an 06 GT. I have never toped it out but I have gone 136 mph and backed off due to traffic.

  • The standard gears of the 07 GT is 3:08, Mine came stock with 3:32 and it does 155mph at 4500 rpm. What you're probably reading are test results in the back of the magazine, like Road and Track does. But if you have an 06 GT with the 3:32 gears, it will do 155 at 4500 rpm. I promise you that. The ONLY thing I have done to it is change out the air filter with a factory replacement K&N filter and I use full synthetic Mobil 1 oil. Other than that, it is totally bone stock. You will hit 155.

  • Also, the rev limiter is at 6250 rpm. A mustang gt is drag limited, not rev limited.

  • if you're dropping from 3:32's to 4:10's, you're definitely going to lose top end, but you'll accelerate a LOT faster.

  • i did 145mph at 4000rpms on stock gt. What does your car do at same speed?

  • is your powerband still there at 70mph to 80mph?

  • What did you mpg do after you put in the 4.10 gears?

  • dude u rock.lol.ive been looking for something like this.thanks man
