we had to build a bridge out of knexs in one of my classes in school

we failed it

it sucked

Wouldn't the bridge be like twice as strong if on the underside you used the normal half circle (yellow) connectors, instead of the two-piece (purple) connectors, since the underside in in tension, not compression like on the top where either piece works? I say this because the way the purple connectors are designed they are suppose to come apart under tension, i.e. being pulled apart.
