Richard Harris also Oliver Reed legends there are not many guys around like them any more. Also Richard Harris had a great singing voice thanks for posting you can't help just watch and listen to people like him...
Great man & actor, and was supposedly a serious rugby player back in his youth. Could have gone on to play provincial with Munster & international for Ireland, before he got struck with injury. Probably a good thing, or else he would have never have gotten into acting.
Why don't those who are being negitive just admire this man for a great career that went on for decades all the while he really enjoyed all that life had to offer him and us all if we chase it
@RichardElden How is the down syndrome class going PeterFirthFan? Everyone wants you to kill yourself, or at least self harm. Oh how I would love to rip your face apart and shove a stick down your throat.
@MrRozow How are still on this or any other site? You are a filthy, low-minded idiot. No one cares your opinion of Richard Harris or anything else. We DO care about your nasty posts. Leave off and go away.
@RichardElden he was a movie star, easy to get a girl if you're famous and i dont think he was ugly and hes most likely had a better and much more exciting life than any of us will have thats for sure
People like Harris and Oliver Reed were acting power houses and were rock & roll when actors weren't rock & roll ... they don't make men like this anymore .... sadly.
To be honest, when I was about 15 I would have thought of Harris as "Dumbledore" and O'Toole as "that old bloke from Troy", so I can forgive others for doing the same. I just wish people would broaden their horizons and watch some old classics where acting was extraordinary. For instance I just got finished watching The Lion in Winter and was completely blown away despite only stumbling across it by accident.
I met the man about three years before he became sober. The greatest storyteller and drinker I have ever met, along with Ollie. He had everyone in the pub reeling with hysterics and bought drinks only for those who laughed.
m sick & tired of you Harry Potter whores calling Richard Harris "Dumbledore." He's one of the greatest actors to ever live & you chumps only remember him as a wizard in a corny ass movie. If you want to see great acting watch him in Sporting Life, Cry the Beloved Country, The Field, & Unforgiven. WTF ppl "Dumbledore?" Damn, that's like watching Denzel Washington in Traning Day & saying "There's Dudley! King Kong ain't got shit on Dudley" (Character he played in the Preacher's Wife)
@lilze96 I understand completely what you're saying: Richard Harris was a legendary actor who should be remembered for all the work he did in prior films. But, of course he will be remembered as Dumbledore because this generation is too young to have seen his other films!
@lilze96 I understand completely what you're saying: Richard Harris was a legendary actor who should be remembered for all the work he did in prior films. But, of course he will be remembered as Dumbledore because this generation is too young to have seen his other films!
@lilze96 On the other hand, if his performance as Dumbledore encourages people to watch those fantastic movies, that can only be seen as a good thing.
happy birthday to you mate, still dont forget you, your one of my idols, you did what you wanted, had no regrets and lived it up like everyone should, RH you was a tough bastard and thats why i love ya, im sure me and you would have gotten on well here's a vodka and tonic for you mate. Happy Birthday!
He is so awesome - I laughed at the end when he said "I wasn't going to die from an overdose of drugs... I'd rather die from a heart attack on some beautiful blonde or - from alcohol." HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
it's annoying the way harris is remembered by many solely for his harry potter performance,...he was amazin, wish more people would watch his greatest work in classics like This Sporting Life, The Wild Geese, The Field and Unforgiven....Its the same like Alec Guinness being remembered mostly as Obi- Wan Kanobi
That's true, he was good in "A Man Called Horse" too. "Orca - Killer Whale" is probably his worst film, ever seen it? It's a hilariously bad rip-off of Jaws.
@TroyDouglas917 And sadly, as a child, that was my intro to the man....and I still LOVED him! I got to go see him live in a stage production (touring) of Camelot. He was hilarious, too, he broke character to explain that he had the flu at one point! And my mother worried about my taste in men forever more....
@PhillyDippy5 He didn't write the script but he did read it and agree to appear in it, so he has to take some responsibility for doing it. It's one of those "so bad, it's good" movies. Easily his worst film.
i agree, ever since watching him first in the count of monte cristo, well when i watched it, i was sad to hear he had recently died but ever since then ive been a fan, not in anyway for harry potter, only reason i like them is because RH is in them, well the first two. Ive watched sporting life, field and others, whenever there's a RH film on im watching it. He's a legend, a great role model. Makes me proud to have Irish blood in me.
@connaught2008 Agreed. Theres no reason why the younger generations cant see his other films. Its easier than ever to watch classic films today. When I was a teen I watched everything from 60 years previous to current films. Todays teens seem only interested in films 10 years old or newer or their cell phones. Harris was worried about being only remembered for Dumbledore. Sadly he was correct.
He makes a lot of sense - but there must have been pain and demons along the way as a result which he conveniently skips over, but all in all, most people do sleep through life in fear looking for some sort of safe comfort zone. I try not to, I dont want any regrets when Im 80.
Richard Harris also Oliver Reed legends there are not many guys around like them any more. Also Richard Harris had a great singing voice thanks for posting you can't help just watch and listen to people like him...

The Brat were:- Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr, Dean Martin Etc
Just imagine these in a film:- Richard Harris, Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins, Steve Mc Queen and Jimmy Dean.
One Word - PHENOMENAL Pity really that the latter were not all of the same era.
Pity the younger generation of today do not understand the words "Class Actors"
