  • very nice! absolutely beautiful!

  • i love the music the choreography is more expressed i think veryyy nice

  • THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! SHE LOOKS SO HAPPY AND STRONG, VIBRANT!!

  • Beautiful motion!!! Dancing is different than any other art - because it with dance the person is covered in fire. FIRE + SPIRIT. Whereas with singing - the person is filled with spirit. Dancing is volatile because FIRE fills the soul.

  • @kemz1969

I love how you express dance and music. Although a music major with two degrees and grew up in a family that considered dance a "sin", the passion that I feel for dance, not only survived, but is an undeniable necessity to feel joy and vibrantly alive AND a way to dance the life in me.

  • Beautiful motion!!!

  • <3

  • she so happi. absolutley beaut. <3 :0

  • YEEEEEESSSSSSS! WOW! Very Powerful !

  • cool we r doing this as an opening for ailey camp! lol

just not this song.. the moves.. ailey rocks!

  • I was fortunate enough to see Jamison when she danced this part. She was astounding!

  • wow; great dance :)

  • I love that skirt so much.

  • Dwana is great! I wish i could dance like that.

  • Simply Beautiful! I'm saving my money, I have always wanted to see an Alvin Ailey production and bring my two daughters who dance as well.....I can't wait!!!

  • I love Dwanna she is beautiful, but the video with Donna Wood is stunning, legend has it that Wood learned th 14 minute solo with Jamison the night before her performance in the late 80's

  • This was clearly not about the music! That was a BEAUTIFUL dance! I am literally crying. Dwana was amazing and served Ailey very well!

  • anybody knows where i can get the video where jamison dance? please

  • Dwana danced her face off. I really liked the addition of the younger dancers... Keeping the tradition of Alvin Ailey's dream alive...

    Eng from Philly

  • I agree.. I was looking for Jamison dancing to VOEH, but they took it down. She looks good and on point. Wonderful to watch.

  • Nice but it would have been nicer with the original music.

  • Youtube didn't allow me to use the original music. I tried. But youtube removed the sound and made it silent. I considered leaving it up with no music at all.

  • you were close with the music...the music for this section is actually "Right on, Be Free by The Voices of East Harlem"

  • Thank you for the song's and perfor mers' names.

I got my information at tech dot. mit dot. edu

Here is an excerpt from the link:

"... 'Cry' is dedicated to 'all black women everywhere -- especially our mothers,' and takes place in three movements to music by Alice Coltrane, Laura Nyro, and Chuck Griffin."

I presume from this that Coltrane, Nyro and Griffin are the composers. So I was crediting the composers.

  • your welcome.....they're correct in terms of the entire solo...Cry is a 3 part solo... with the third part of the solo being sung by Chuck Griffin's choir "The Voices of East Harlem"...the first part was by alice coltrane and the second by Laura Nyro....truly a beautiful piece...could only wish that someone post the entire thing
