  • anybody know the name of the beautiful girl in the video

  • como k la melodia se parece a una cancion de modern talking.

  • great band , great album , a must have in any collection ( so do your self a favour people )

  • Awesome Pop music from a band that knew it's stuff.. Not unheard of . Just not as well known . I've owned this CD since the first week of it's release here in the States . Unfortunately the only airplay it received was "Strange Kind Of Love" I blame the marketers for not promoting it. This Album should have outsold nearly everything else that was produced that year...

  • @kbdevo1962 if you like this, get a listen to Hipsway - from the same era in Glasgow and just as good.

  • @sooperdoopershedboy Thank you very much for the heads up : ) Never heard them before . listening now . and I'm definitely liking what I'm hearing.... Good stuff for sure !

  • Respond to this video... Get a listen to Hipsway, out of the same Glasgow era in the 80's, up there with love and Money

  • Love the album "Strange kind of love" If ever there's an album to chill out to it's this one. Another under-rated band thanks to Radio One not giving these bands more airplay. Love and Money, Blue Nile, The Adventures from Ireland, Goodbye Mr McKenzie and a good few more. More interested in american rubbish like New Kids on the Block and other awful pap.

  • Could someone PLEASE explain why the 80's are so amazing?! I mean honestly, I just can't even believe that a decade could be this good!!!!!!!!!!! What the heck ever happened to music like this that was actually good?! <3

  • @bottle23 I agree

  • The lead singer is James Grant

  • What's the name of the lead singer? This album is great!! What else has he sung, and what are they calling themselves now? I'd like to get all of his work!! His voice still gives me goosebumps.

  • Comment removed

  • @CameoWalkin His name is James Grant and he has a couple of solo albums out as well. He has a few videos on here, but not many

  • @CameoWalkin have a listen to his solo album - My Thrawn Glory, it's superb. He has more but that's the only one I've got beside Love and Money's "Strange Kind of love"

  • Amazing song, happy memories for this Geordie lad working in Glasgow back in the late 80s when this came out. Great people, great city. This tune and Up Escalator were their best for me

  • Wow!! These guys are unknown classics. The music is well played & produced, the lyrics & vocals are classy. These guys have smooth & natural feel to their music. Awesome!!

  • WAAAH !!! Listen to this music, what a voice and hear the Bass, those guys are killers, real artists, come back men and kick ass to all the singers today where the real music goes.

FANTASTIC Artists, music like this is eternel, thanck you LOVE & MONEY

  • One of my favourite song of this band.... I'm proud still have the original vinyl

thanks for posting this wonderful video

  • The album "Strange Kind Of Love" by Love And Money is brilliant. It's one of the most incredible albuns that i heard in my life . The James Grant voice is beautiful. The musics arrangements give us the 80's sensations. I close my eyes and i almost feel the wind of that time. I never saw anything like this in music after. It''s a masterpiece. I'm a collector from Brazil, cause my english is not good, but i have all the original Cds by Love and Money, Support the artist please!

  • brilliant band brilliant song

  • wicked tune great voice.

  • Beautiful voice. Sexy, can sell you anything.

  • What a band. One of the most underated scottish bands along with The Blue Nile and Hipsway. Glad to hear they're back together.

  • Fantastic album -- I still have the original vinyl! Today's music just doesn't seem to measure up anymore.

  • This whole album is AMAZING.

  • L&M just announced gig in Glasgow Armadillo December

  • What a band. Why do we not have class like this today? We have to suffer that mass produced media friendly shit !!! Give me this anyday.

  • great song,so much better than todays rubbish!

  • Always loved this (and Jocelyn Square) - have both on vinyl and they sound superb - sound just seems to ooze out of the speakers (much better than if digitally stored!)

  • man i got so laid to this song backinthe day lol

  • This is real true pop-rock from the 80's. just great

  • Spent 2 fantastic hours at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall last night watching these guys perform all songs from Strange Kind of Love and Dogs in The Traffic albums. What a blast from the past and they sound as good as they always did. First gig in 16 years and lets hope its not the last. Nice one James and the boys!

  • tremendous song.doesn,t get better than that!

  • ...or buy the original CD..:-)

  • i wish that there would be some kind of real twilight zone were i could walk into the 80's whenever i would love to. And when something would go wrong with the

gate to the present, so that i would would be stuck in the 80's, i wouldn't mind

that at all, because i would have no problem to do my life over again.

  • a classic 80s song

  • A right arrogant bastard that lead singer but these lot were brilliant! Their reign was too short! A shame really.

  • superb

  • absouloutly great band and an amizing soulfull voice.

  • wonderful to hear these guys again. Rated them very highly back in the late 80's.

Vey hard to finf their stuff today. Thank you so much for posting this. Respect.

  • What a privilage to be alive when this song was made

  • up escalator anyone??

  • AHHH YES BEST GUITAR SOUND EVER

  • more than 20 years old and how good is this?? I only got this album recently and it's magnificent.

  • should *HAVE* been MASSIVE!

  • This band should been MASSIVE!

  • great musicians better than dross 2day

  • @amy1510 These days there aren't musicians - more programmers!

  • RIP Bobby Paterson.

  • @dirkbogarde44 he was a great bassist

  • these simple minds and the blue nile all great scottish groups

  • Yep pure class.....

  • Great. Good memories :-)

  • brilliant underated band. great memories

  • classic tune.

  • i remember them doin this on WOGAN.

  • The best song, the best singer, the best bassist, best production. When I think of the late eighties; this is my soundtrack. My song of the decade (not the greatest video) I just wish I could rewind - start again. Same people - done differently.

Pardon me as I lose myself in time for 5 minutes.I will return in a melancholy dream

  • @ghk1857 God bless your comment,

  • @ghk1857 ..love that input min..of course you missed out hipsway..botany 5..very very..and after eight mince

  • Muy buenos love & Money, que recuerdos en Barcelona, pub Layer.

  • all my faverouite groups are scottish simple minds the blue nile h20 these guys and deacon blue.

  • would go with alot of these lol

  • and forgot to mention altered images and gallagher and lyle

  • Totally agree!!! Also Wet Wet Wet!

  • @44madhatter you missed out the big dish! Awesome band too.

  • @44madhatter Simple Minds are amazing & under-appreciated by American ears... I would suggest other bands but Simple Minds are un-touchable. Check out Japan's last 2 albums though. Cheers to having good taste my friend!!

  • They bring back so many forbidden memories. The soundtrack to a turbulent time in my life. The soundtrack to my forbidden love.

  • Saw James Grant at the Tollbooth in stirling a couple of weeks ago, and he's still as good as ever. Some of his new stuff is pretty good, although you can tell he is a little bitter how they didn't make it bigger back in the 80's/90's. I quite agree!

  • sure....its a strange kinda

  • its a strange kind of love

  • I was fortunate enough to see them live many many times. I was never disappointed!

  • If it hadn't been for SAW songs clogging up the charts in 1989 this would have probably made the Top 40 (it made #45) and they'd have appeared on Top Of The Pops.

  • They at least appeared on Wogan! It was after this the record went into the top 50. I'm glad I bought it.

  • Brilliant....out at the same time as Hipsway,Fruits of Passion,Simple Minds,Aztec Camera,Strawberry switchblade and the Bluebell...Great growing up in Glasgow in the mid 80's

  • damn right. I spent 7 years in Aberdeen in the 80's and all of these bands got so much attention up there... still think these bands are criminally under recognised. A soundtrack to a sometimes mis-spent youth. Timeless.

Not forgetting the Big Dish as well!

  • You missed out hue and cry and deacon blue.

  • Comment removed

  • still in love with this band! timeless and beautiful

  • Saw them in Kansas City in 1988 for $1.02. Great show and James Grant had already attended the Jim Kerr school of dance.

  • Amazing feeling, tight production, great sound.

  • Such an incredible band, this was the soundtrack of my youth and its still has the best production I have ever heard from a Scottish band

  • Album was produced by Gary Katz over in NYC, who did all the Steely Dan albums, also features Jeff Porcaro drumming on all tracks, and a sneaky clavinet cameo by Donald Fagen.

  • I always thought they were a great band, but never had the success they deserved.

  • Wonderfully crafted song.

  • penso che nessuna band al mondo possa vantare la stessa pienezza di suono di questo meraviglioso album

  • Do check out James Grant solo work..........simply wonderful!

  • They deserved so much more success,i met James Grant a couple of times at gigs he was great to talk to and Bobby patterson( RIP)

  • can anyone out there remember a track around the same era as this (great) track? seem to remember the title was" obsession just like calvin klein" ...... would welcome any pointers as to the artist . thanks

  • the track was by the duo Act called ' Snobbery And Decay"- featuring that lyric. Wrongly -only reached no. 60 in May 87. featuring Claudia Brucken from the legandary Propaganda.

  • thanks martin for your spot on answer, many thanks

  • no probs at all.

  • animotion was the group who did obsession but that was in 1985

  • I forgot to add Dr. Robert to the list!

  • How can you not love James' voice? So suave, so smooth, so resonant! Those low tones are just amazing--the aural equivalent of dark coffee and warm maple syrup... He's right up there with the best: Martin Fry, Iva Davies, Tony Hadley, Bryan Ferry--the classic purveyors of swank 80s pop.

This band's sound changed quite a bit from album to album--funk rock, then jazzy pop, then finally alt-country. I think their best work is in that middle phase, represented by this album.

  • I'm one of the few dutch people who did know love and money, and it's a shame that they mever made it here in holland, because i think that they are just as great as level 42, simple minds, and more great bands from ther eighties.

Anyway, i only had the song Halleluiah man, and thanks to the internet and youtube i finaly found more stuf of these guy's after way more than 20 years.

Man, they should release their music again, because i'm sure that even today lot's of people would love it!

  • Superb!!!!!

  • I love this CD so much I bought TWO!

  • So did I ! !

  • Simply awesome...

  • This was a studio recording with Jeffrey Porcaro on drums (Toto) and that's what making it groove so hard...

  • ....and dont forget Bobby Patterson's [R.I.P] excellent bass playing! That man a funky funky ass grove! Rest in peace Bobby!

  • Isn't that just magnificent. And he plays it like it's easy. Brilliant finger style. I could never do that but then again I'm just an old punk. That back pickup sound is just to die for. What kind of amp are you using my friend?

  • 5minutes of bliss.

  • @bareerse -Un commento meraviglioso!,sublime!!!

  • Superb song -- one of my all-time favourites. Lyrically and musically this is pure genius. Thanks so much for posting this :)

  • I saw themin concert in London in 1989. I love this song

  • i am genuinely jelous! Bet they were ace to bass

  • They were really. really good

  • By the way, this album has Jeff Porcaro (TOTO) that is gone, too. RIP...

  • Sadly the bassist is dead. Bobby Paterson is gone since 2006.

  • this sounds brilliant with the bass cranked to 11.

  • Top,top song.Manythanks for posting this. Awesome!!

  • What class! The 80's is where the Music was played not like the media friendly mass produced shit of today!

  • Oh yes. A pearl in 80s music history. Great pop album!

  • 20 years ago, and compared to todays' predictable music sounds like made in the future. Great sophisticated music back then: don't miss Prefab Sprout, Blue Nile, Danny Wilson...

  • Brilliant find. Many thanks for posting.

  • Classic song. Brings me back to my teenage years in the 1980's. Thanks for the upload.

  • @kevinhogan1 JUST FOUND THEM ON YOU TUBE ...ONE OF TEH BEST ALBUMS EVER 1988 ..I WAS IN ITALY THEN

  • @cmmarino24 Yes, one of the BEST bands of their day. This is timeless music.
