Rick James wrote plenty of Tina Marias songs #1 and #2 Tina does not have the range of Christina. Sure they were greats in their own time and maybe tina paved the way for more funk and R&B white chicks but where she left off this generation picked up and took it to the next level.
@TheDahkness I'm sorry but Teena will crush Christina vocally even at 55 years old! Rick only wrote and produced most of the song on Teena's "Wild and Peaceful" album which was her debut album but after that, Teena wrote, produced, and arranged her own stuff.

Nothing innovative about her, nothing special either. She does not have the 'IT" factor. Just another little girl trying to be like the original. Sorry, no comparison. Plus, Christina is not a likeable person, too arrogant and lord knows why. She is simply playing 'follow the leader'.

Just saw her in Philly (West Oak Lane Jazz & Arts Festival 2009). IMO she's every bit as electrifying & soulful as ever, but she never gets the equivalent notoriety, fame and "over the top" press of lesser talents.
Let's see if Christina's career spans 30 years like Teena's has!
