  • Jumping spiders are awesome..the hunting stealth of a cat!

  • looks like a female hyllus semicurpeus to me... they are pretty sure footed

  • NINJA SPIDER

  • no meesing with this fella ... jump kill eat

  • i blinked what happened

  • good video, you can almost hear the fly singing "la de- da" as the spider approaches. =P

What impressed me was that the spider nabbed that fly without even falling of the wall! Typically it will make a flying leap and they'll both roll around struggling on the floor for a minute. But he just grabbed it ha ha, he's got skills. ;-D

  • yes.. this one was like a mastered jumping skilled spider

  • I've seen most jumping spiders use that retracting motion. My guess is it's tethered to a web it lays down before striking and just gives it a quick yank back.

  • Well, I've had quite a number of jumping spiders as pets over the years (one on my desk right now ;-P ) and although they do put out a safety line, nearly always when the spider attacks *vertically* on a wall like that it winds up on the ground with it's prize. I don't recall seeing one grab a fly and keep it's footing so adeptly before on a vertical wall.

Of course if it's catching a bug on a flat horizontal surface, sure.

    Regardless, amazingly designed little creatures

  • and that is why I love spiders....

  • nice idea putting it upside down!!

  • yeah :) so the fly won't escape..

  • hahah super awesome!~

  • Impresive spider. Poor fly. xD
