  • watching this makes me wanna wear rings while playing too, dunno...

  • Just incredible. A combination of style, form, knowledge and technique unmatched in the guitar world. Playing isn't a contest but YM is still the winner.

  • All I have to say is DAMN

  • This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard Yngwie play ...I mean its JS BACH like everything else he does but so what.

  • No! wait ! I forgot Buckethead. He's infinity.

  • @greywolf271 LOL. Stop being a comedienne.

  • where is the new crop of Malmsteens,Vies Dimeolas, did rap start a downward trend in music?don't get me wrong rap is cool, but not at the same level of musicianship and talent'

  • Delay time in ms(milliseconds) is proportionate to the tempo(bpm), with a little calculating, you can do whatever you want with delay there are endless combinations

  • Mozart, are you alive?

  • @superjarri more like bach, this is classic 18th century baroque harmony, not very mozartian.

  • @iamajibber I wrote "mozart" because he was a genius in music but you can put many others in name of him. Anyways, good point.

  • This is the echo etude from Yngwie's first Instructional video. Its an echo effect at 100% wet mix so you hear 2 same guitar sounds, second one delayed 340ms. In the same video he repeats the parts without the echo so yu can hear what he plays. He also uses his volume pot to make the characteristic violin-ing sound that is also delayed. This is not synced.I can play the exact piece myself in my home....Jesus.

  • @irmasil3 its not that fast since its delayed, u just gotta play in time or else it sounds messed up, i play alotta delay stuff but with way faster and more repeats...and thats on bass...but i dont go as melodical as he goes xD btw thats a cool setting hes got there i think cause i think ppl with guitar dont usually set it that "slow" itss just like always a minor quick 1 repeat

  • @ragnaroksama I agree, its quite slow. The delayed sound just doubles it. The whole thing here to learn though is the vibrato. You have to have a perfect-wide-in tune-rythmic vibrato so when one note falls on another it sound like violins.....Anyway talked too much, played too little.Back to my guitars!!!!

  • @irmasil3 hehe get what u mean! i was playing while reading, i acutaly was thinking about this video a little yesterday, its just just repeating the last note it comes out, its repeating the whoooole thing but like...couple seconds after, i mean he goes kinda fast at some points and i thought..."that should sound messed up" and it was ok so yeah...it's a setting i havent seen yet.

  • @irmasil3 the delay is the same speed as what he's playing, there are other songs that he uses the delay to alternate but not this one. this delay hits on the third above the note at the but not interchanging with the other notes

  • 100 years from now they will be talking about this guy with great reverence.

Love him or hate him, he is a true master.

    I don't think there's a damned thing he can't do with a guitar.

  • wow im sorry but TheLibidoRock's comment is probably the dumbest thing. the song is called echo etude.

  • The rising force was so long ago and people are still trying to play his stuff. THE GUY IS A GENIUS!!!!!!

  • vid doesnt fit to sound...

  • @TheLibidoRock

It's an echo effect he's using....

  • @ItzR3zR4pt0r man look at low and high sound it's doesnt fit...

  • @TheLibidoRock

    Lmao...trust me, its synced

  • GOLD STRATO T.T

  • what if he messed up? Oh wait he's Malmsteen

  • @terminaterjohn

He's part of the trinity. Vai, Roth and Malmsteen

  • so well said, 'bout covers it. He is a genius player. i believe that to be fact.

  • this man knows the guitar so well.. timing finger placement, shape for the next arpeggio, moving from octive to octive seeming so simple, insane

  • @Chevellelover21

it all comes from practice... lots and lots of practice.

Those aren't scalloped frets, just worn down frets.

  • @matt2eadgbe No no malmsteen definitely uses a scalloped fret guitar. I have seen him play live, and have played one of his custom series guitars. All of his stratocaster models have scalloped frets

  • damn.

    that is fucking sick

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • lol at guy writing about "emotion", "soul" in music and "talent"

theres no such thing as emotion in music since its not sentient being and cant feel anything, soul is, ermm... subjective even to humans (not to start religious debate).

Talent COULD be described as picking things up faster than x (no standard in how fast average musician learns) and in any case HARD work and practice beat "talent" any day

  • unfortunately this cant be done on all electric guitars.

  • @popalltheway why not? guitar just needs to have volume pot close to the strings so that the player has no trouble reaching and manipulating it

  • @leaderoflostsouls666 that's what i meant, it needs to have the volume knob close.

  • @popalltheway well it cant be that only strats have it that close, although explorers and LPs have it quite far im sure some superstrat shaped guitar has it close enough. Alternatively volume pedal will do the trick! of course that requires hand-feet coordination, but its well worth it i suppose

  • @popalltheway with a volume pedal and hard work it can be played on any electric guitar, but the stratocaster's volume pot is a different beast to a volume pedal.

  • this must be a soundtrack of a game!!! seriously!!

  • 5 people think the guitar is broken

  • That is no more moving than a computer doing it. BORING!!!

  • @abbyguy thanks for letting us know man, now we all know ur the biggest douche bag

  • Comment removed

  • @ragnaroksama: You are showing your lack of knowledge and age when it comes to seeing what true talent is..you are pitiful! I may be a douchebag but you are what it is meant to clean.

  • @abbyguy i hate when im criticrized casue im 15, so what if ur more inteligent? ur gonna bash on me cause "u know better" ? that makes u a random ignorant, instead of seeing things the other way, i could be those jerks that barely knows the name guitar lol

  • @abbyguy

Your showing your lack of restraint by commenting negatively on a video that obviously shows huge talent.

If you don't like it, FUCK OFF!

And by the way, out of intrest, How many albums have you sold???

  • @georgeoelsnik : Ooooo the littel boy knows how to use bad words!!!

It must make you feel powerful defending a musician you don't know?! Why re you taking it so personally? Did I attack you?

No...what a low life, no talent, dim witted, sycophant, loser you really are! Crawl back to your guitar hero TOY and pretend to be someone your not then come back when you grow up.

    Albums...just like you, none.

  • @abbyguy i'm afraid YOU are what you have called the others so far. i'm not a fan of malmsteen at all but this one is pretty good. and he's using the delay effect brilliantly. if you wanted to bash malmsteen you could have chosen another song of his like blitzcrieg or arpeggios from hell which are just fast and only fast. i'm afraid you're the looser around here.

  • @mkwlord FYI I wasn't commenting on just THIS song...he is in general a very good well rehearsed polished computer er guitar player...sort of.

Why are you all so defensive? All I said was the guy is boring and you start calling me names? Shallow egos? So much so that you have to live vicariously through a so-called musician or is it just small penis syndrome? Whatever it is you are all showing you lack of understanding and immaturity.

  • @abbyguy i used your insults and nothing more. i'm not defending him, i don't give a shit about him. it's your oppinion that i'm adressed to. and boy you have a wild imagination considering all that nonsense you just said for no apparent reason. you don't like him. i don't like him either but there are some songs that give him credit for the remarkable work he's done, such as this one, black star and some others.

  • @abbyguy as i said i don't really like him but he's undenyably one of the most skilled and infuential guitarists around. and he's been around for quite a while now (obviously for a reason). if you don't accept it, that's and entirely different thing. so stop talking shit and giving intellectual BULLSHIT to whoever has a different oppinion than yours. and there are many, can't imagive why...(sarcasm). you can either accept it, or continue being that little whining bitch hating on each video.

  • @abbyguy Firstly, at least if I find a video I feel negatively about, I don't comment on it at all.

Secondly, Don't play guitar hero, or any computer games.

Yes, you didn't attack me (probably the only correct statement in your comment), but you did attack a guitarist (that you don't know either) and, therefore attacked what I'm passionate about, giving me just cause for a rebuttal.

*note; I didn't have to lay down a heap of irrelavant insults to you directly to reply.

  • @Forfucksake1994 He's just improvising in E minor. Learn some E minor modes and scales and then go dick around with the volume knob on the guitar while using a delay effect and you'll be on your way!

  • I'd sign a pact with the Devil to be able to have talent like that!

  • he sure did like purple

  • JAJA In the beginning SEEMs VALLENATO music FROM PERU OF ECUADOR, but yngwie is a god musician

  • This guy is the classic case for talent but no soul. He can play like nobody else but can he put emotion into his work without coming off as looking forced and shallow? No.

Gimme Clapton, Moore, Page, Beck or any number of others that know what it means to plat and feel it. They are not just a technician like Malmsteen.

  • @abbyguy just because he isn't moving on stage like a crazy cow doesn't mean he has no soul

  • @mikakit I has ABSOLUTLE NOTHING to do with movement on stage, it has EVERYTHING to do with feel and interpretation. Malmsteen is a technician nothing more... he plays the notes very well, but couldn't play real blues or jazz to save his life.

  • @abbyguy according to your words, kurt cobain was a great guitarist, and vai, satriani, pettrucci, malmsteen are awful and soul-less guitarists (as they have very good technique). Malmsteen's 70% influence is classical music, and that means you call classical music (but more modern and faster) a music "with no soul"

  • @abbyguy and yeah, of course, he cant play blues, he invented his own genre, and plays his genre great

  • @mikakit: If you want to call playing the scales very fast great, then have at er.

  • @abbyguy his style is not only scales!!! and yes, scales are great

  • @mikakit : Scales are BORING, they show a total lack of imagination. Everyone can do them, it takes someone special to compose something NEW with them. The guy as dull as a rainy day.

  • @abbyguy Many genres are based on scales... yes, raw scales are boring, but I don't think Malmsteen just uses only scales, he uses some riffing and his own interpretations of famous songs...

  • @abbyguy everyone uses scales and he actually has some of the best bends, vibrato, and phrasing.....playing a scale slow doesnt mean u have more soul and playing fast doesnt mean u r only running scales, u should learn some before u try talking.

  • @westjt17 : First, bite me.

You should learn about what it means to have real feeling in a song. He is boring! There's NO character to his music, no passion for the indefinable part of it. It is ALL technical, like a computer playing it, well done but so what!

Music's supposed to move the soul, he just plays notes fast and well, again, so what!!!

Watch Gary Moore doing Redhouse and see what real feeling is like, watch Hendrix, Clapton, BB King or Beck they don't just play scales over and over.

  • @abbyguy just because YOU cant feel it doesnt mean theres no soul there, personally, i love yngwie's playing it makes me feel so much more than guys like hendrix, clapton, or beck and it has little to do with the fact that he has 100 times more technical ability than them....which i like these guys as well, but they are even MORE repetitive than yngwie, THEY USE THREE NOTES OVER AND OVER AGAIN at least yngwie uses the entire scale...he obviously loves his style, hes done it for 35 years.

  • @abbyguy just because YOU cant hear it doesnt mean theres no "soul".....which btw is diff. for everyone, personally i feel more in yngwie's music than hendrix, clapton, and beck...and it has little to do with the fact he has 100 times more technical ability, these guys are even MORE repetitive, they play the same threenotes over and over and over...jus bc they cant do wat yngwie can ppl say ohh well they have soul, thats BS cuz yngwie obviously loves his style he's done it for 35 years!

  • @westjt17 35 years and he's still a nobody cuz he is just that...a nobody technician with a huge amount of tech ability but no feel for what make a true mucsican. Dream on pal, dream on.

  • @abbyguy ok if hes a nobody how come he is one of the most influential guitarists...most metal guitarists play many yngwie licks.....and mainstream music is stupid, you can learn a couple chords and then become "somebody" as u call it....u say he is nobody but hes has sold millions and millions of albums dumbass....he was focused on proving a point and he did just that,

  • @westjt17 Come back with an opinion when you grow up.."dumbass"...what a loser.

You must be very fragile if what I said offended you personally and now feel the need rto defend this guy????

Get a life go play with you Tonka trucks or is it Barbie dolls? Loser.

  • taaaaaabs!

  • from 1:08 OH MY GOOODNES!

  • I think Malmsteen sucks, but this video and what he does with his guitar in this one sounds beautiful.

  • @PattttttoBlackmorexD I think you got confused with names here when you meant to say you suck?

  • wtf 3 dislikes ? this is amazing

  • What people don't realize is this whole song is done in octaves. Every note he plays is an octave for the next.

  • @xCMxMach not every note lol but most, at some point he has to play a different note to change the axis, the sweeps for example

  • whose the sole mofo who disliked this? he is sentenced to death by rap

  • awesome theme, but sadly, this video is completelly desynchronized... :(

  • @nitturo nah it is just delay effect

  • @nitturo way too bad that you fail because you're a nerd and u obviously don't know that it is delayed from when he plays it and he is making it do that on purpose u fucking fagg

  • @252oger top comment? stfu nub? eat shita nd die?

  • woah : O

  • whos the one douche tht thumbs owned this is was definetly justin beiber

  • it sounds like a guitar... not even close to a violin

  • @BigCalm55 it is close to violin, get over it.

  • @BigCalm55 You have obviously mixed up the sounds of stringed instruments. Either way, Yngwie got paid a shit load of money for songs like this, so who cares what it sounds like?

  • He is a musical genious

  • I studied classical guitar for 2 and a half years and if u know anything about classical music u can do this shit all day with swells and a digital delay....still tho huge malmsteen fan here..nice to see this....and he does it really well.

  • I would be sick if Fender did a signature series based on Malmsteen's preferences on a strat.

  • @deepislandboy

    /watch?v=TYz-M6e7t9U

  • @deepislandboy : FYI- Fender does have a Malmsteen signature Strat that was introduced many years ago. It is part of the Fender Strat Artist Series and retails for around US$1700. You can check it out at the Fender website

  • @lydianfreak Actually the cheap model is around 2,500, the real one is about 12,500

  • Comment removed

  • @yjm526 You're right that the MSRP on Fender's website for the "cheap one" is approx $2500, but it retails at most internet retailers like Musician's Friend or guitar stores like Guitar Center at ~$1700. You can check out Guitar Center's website for details. BTW IMHO $1700 is not exactly "cheap"

  • damn!!!!!,,, that was awesome

  • i dont know what to say. that was fantastic. i love the carved fret fender. the song is brilliant the way it sounds like a violin.

  • @252oger they're called "scalloped" frets haha

  • It's called a scalloped fret board.

  • @252oger this is classic music dude !

  • @252oger "Carved frets" are called Scalloped Frets, and its not hard to do, you could do it to your guitar easy!

  • @vynerodron I'm scalloping a cheap strat copy at the minute. It's not hard but it is very slow and boring work... You can get a machine to do it faster, but I don't have one of those :/

  • @vynerodron Yes, and permanently ruin the fingerboard. LOLs.

  • mind blowing...10/5

  • @PrickCriticist that means 2 /:

  • maybe volume pedal + delay and distorsion...

  • @amidfallen no.its a Delay pedal only, and he is using the litlle figer over the volume knob to do this! *Bad english(sorry)

  • @amidfallen

His using his pinky to reduce the attack of the strings with the volume knob

  • how does he do that anyone?

  • @GuitarLover525

Ahm, I think it's just the Volume Knob and Delay ?!

  • @GuitarLover525 put your pinky around the volume knob, volume at 0, then play a note and turn it up a little bit, it takes a lot of skill to do it fast though, and you will need to use a delay pedal if you want to do it the same way as in this video

  • @GuitarLover525 nah he's using a volume pedal

  • I have this Video and I always find this Exremely Beautiful. Yngwie you are The King.

  • Yngwie is awesome I love his

neo-classical way to play the guitar \,,/_!!!!!

  • why arent there more views ???

  • Warf impressionnant !! Surtout dans les graves, en fermant les yeux on y croit vraiment...!
