From the video it looks like this is not a typical 10 string (or 5 course) charango, but is set-up as a 7 string instrument (really 8 strings) with single strings for the 1st,2nd, 4th,5th,6th,and 7th strings and the 2 strings (1 course) for the 3rd string. Is that correct? I think that is how the Federico is able to play certain parts of Guardame Las Vacas (watching the cows) with fast open string arpeggiation.

Qué humillación ver que el mediocrismo culturalmente hablando en méxico cada vez es peor. con todo el respeto mi querido amigo, yo pienso, y solo es mi humilde opinion, que tratar de decir el charango nacio "en tal sitio" o "es de tal sitio" es absurdo, el charango tiene arraigo en muchos lugares de latinoamerica, y en mucho de los casos presenta particularidades segun la zona, en cuanto al instrumento hasta la manera de tocar, asi que yo pienso que el chrango no pertenec a un sitio, si no a muchos y que cada quien le imprime pues la idisincracia de su pueblo... un abrazo

Eso es cierto amigo, el charango no es ni boliviano ni peruano, es latino americano, Andino, y tiene sus origenes en instrumentos de cuerda europeos asi que a los bolivianos seria buenos decirles que se ubiquen y por que no a los peruanos que andan diciendo que es peruano tambien, por siaca yo soy bien peruano.

Quisas tienes razon en alguna forma hacia lo que te refieres de que es Latinoamericano. Pa tal cosa todo en Las Americas de Origen Latinl es Latinoamericano. Entonces no hubiera diferencia entre la musica Peruana y la Mexicana y lo hay. Es sierto que la idea del charango es como la de una Mandolina, pero de todas maneras es instrumento Andino entre los instrumentos Latinoamericanos. Es un instrumento original del centro del Peru. Sientete Orgulloso y lo compartimos con los vecinos.

Fabulous sound - it sounds more appropriate on a charango than a classical guitar, but I do like the way Julian Bream 'swings' the rhythm a bit more on the version I have heard of him playing it. That is not a criticism, just an observation. Great technique and sound on this version. Thanks.
