I really like the new MLP line. The McDonalds toys weren't well made at all. Personally, I like all the MLP generations except G3. (G1, G2 and G4) They may not be your cup of tea but don't compare a regular G3 MLP to a G4 Happy Meal toy. At least compare it to a regular G4 pony.

I realize where your going but My little pony is a cartoon for children using anthropomorphism. gen4 toy line is directly based off the cartoon unlike the previous generations. I personally didn't like the gen3 (the other one you had) more than gen4 because of how chubby they are. At least gen4 have longer legs in proportion to the body. My little pony is better compared to many other cartoons for anatomy.
Check out My Little Pony Tales. It abuses the non-equine modes of movement far worse than FiM ever does. For that matter watch the series. Yeah, I had a similar reaction at first, but if you actually watch the /show/, you'll see that it has better voice acting, plot, animation, and they don't (usually) magically pick up items with one hoof, velcro-style. I can see your point in this. The reason the characters look different is because Hasbro lost the rights to several characters. The art director is Lauren Faust, who also did the Powerpuff Girls. That kinda explains the big goo-goo eyes. I'm not so much hooked on the character designs as much as the actual show. Once again nothing at all like the original, but entertaining and funny in it's own right. I ran into a few anatomy issues myself, but the style works with the mood of the show.

I grew up on ponies- and understand your anger based on the outlandish look. I did not like these characters until their personalities were portrayed in the show. Most toys and cartoons for girls focus on being a specific way to fit in with societies demands of being female. ( aka. Dress up like a doll, go shop, like pink, look good and get a guy when you are older.) This new show may butcher classic ponies,but the accurate range of female ( and male) personalities and focus on personal aspirat

also, cyra, i do agree the new toy look is a bit rediculas, but, you have to consider the generation we live in now, we live in a generation where 98% (if not 100%) of entertainment comes fron online (social media, gaming, etc)
so, companies get desperate, and come up with some of the most outlandish ways to get attention anymore.

Oh hey, guess what. Its based on the cartoon design, and this is getting more attention on both genders, then it had ever done before.. Sooo umm the correct anatomy of a cartoon character doesn't exactly matter. Thats been proven perfectly in thousands of cartoons, Loony Toons, Anime, Ed Ed, and Eddy. I can see your point in this. The reason the characters look different is because Hasbro lost the rights to several characters. The art director is Lauren Faust, who also did the Powerpuff Girls. That kinda explains the big goo-goo eyes. I'm not so much hooked on the character designs as much as the actual show. Once again nothing at all like the original, but entertaining and funny in it's own right. I ran into a few anatomy issues myself, but the style works with the mood of the show.
